Mercedes launched a new variant of its new ML SUV, the 250CDi for Rs. 46.5 lakhs Ex showroom Delhi. This makes it cheaper than the 350 by around Rs. 10.4 lakhs. This makes it go directly against the X3 from BMW and Audi's Q5. Mercedes has lost out big time against its rivals in recent times. Can this new variant grab a slice of the big German pie?

Whats your pick of the three SUVs?

It's very intelligent move to make up the lost ground . Space wise it's winner ,need to wait for a test drive  and depends on the how well the gearbox is tuned ,However we aren't racing with this , Maintainence cost are  lower for Mercedes than Audi & BMW .

The ML is from a completely higher segment and has better interiors. It also looks better than the Q5 and has an adequate engine(50 kg torque)

Mercedes is in hurry to fill up the voids in their portfolio.
But it will take almost 1.5-2 years for them to bring in real competition in volume segment like A-class, GLK, GLS.
So for now ML 250 CDI at the price of 45 lakhs makes sense.
It will bring back some volumes for Merc.
With ML you'll better space and features than Q5 and X3

Very clever move by Mercedes. The new M- Class has newer tech, better looks and interiors and afterall its a segment above the Q5 and X3.

Rs 50 lakh for the Audi and BMW does sound a bit pricey.
Name says it all.. AMG1
