Maruti xa alpha concept suv9.jpg

.Now in India most of the customers upgrade from one class to another like the other international markets.Percentage of such customers have increased a lot.Now Maruti is developing 3 new sedan for India.Next generation SX4 is bigger and wider than the current one.So with is model Maruti will enter the entry level D segment. This model will compete against Toyota Corolla,Chevrolet Cruze and Renault Fluence.
The second sedan will be a new sedan which will be placed between SX4 and swift Dzire. This sedan will be based on the extended swift platform. Most of underpinnings will be shared between Swift. So Maruti can save lot of money in it.Then the third sedan will be compact sedan which is a Sub 4 meter car. This will be based on the A-star.Basically an A-star with some modifications attached with a boot on it.Like This will make the Maruti range a bigger one.
There is a small compact SUV coming from Maruti based on the XA-Alpha platform.Maruti is also working on a Cross over based on the next generation SX4.Maruti is also developing new compact Diesel engine for the entry level hatch backs. Also there will be more powerful Fiat sourced diesel engines will debut in Maruti Cars.New sedan will be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo and also later they will be Launched.

As per my knowledge, XA-Alpha is scheduel to launch in 2017 & it'll do a remarkable job! & extended swift sedan or C segment car will grab decent no.s in it's early age! But new SX4 is sureshot failure, if it's placed in D segment! Maruti simply can't handle 10 lakh plus models & this this is earlier experienced by Grand Vitara & kizashi!

Maruti is a big brand when it comes to India, as It is often being called as 'Desi Company'. But this desi company can only occupy the middle and lower segments. I dont know why the company is not growing and making a remarkable increase by doing some extra stuff and get into the price bracket of 15-25 lacs(assumption :P )
Happy Driving :) :D

Getting XA Alpha in 2017 will be a suicide of the money invested to develop it. With Duster already here and Ecosport coming in, this segment is going to see a lot of interest being shown. A late entry will only diminish the excitement of this product.. it would be just like any other product then!!
On SX4 facelift, I don't think Maruti is going anywhere with that car. They should have scrapped it and come out with a new design altogether! It will sure soar in this market with a new design. The current one is too roundy and bulgy for its competition which is much more sleek with sharp lines.

woudnt it be much easier for them to make a sedan our of the Ertiga and save time.

why so many sedans now ? xalpha should have been their priority all along , why to make a fool of yourself by showcasing it ,when it comes 5 years hence,as if people would be willing to wait for that long.

I have never met a car that i did not like.

It's not MS's fault, but is of indian customers'! If Indian customers are ready to wait almost 3-4 months for dezire, then they can wait for 5 years also, this is what MS officials would have thought!

XA Alpha based Mini SUV will be coming by 2013-2014, powered with Multijet Diesel & VVT petrol engines.

For a fact, a car from Concept stage to Production version takes almost 15-20 months time, remember Ertiga which was R-III concept displayed at Auto Expo 2010 & production version was unveiled at AE 2012 & launch 2-3 months later.

Well said & well founded.

One sedan: SX4 facelift, coming very soon in Petrol & Diesel.

2nd sedan: Based on Ertiga dimensions(extended Swift platform), wheelbase & will be placed in between DZire & New SX4. Petrol & Diesel engine options.

3rd sedan: A-star based sedan to in a new micro-sedan segment. Petrol for sure, Diesel engine option still unclear.
