  1. Hello all My job location is changing for next 10 to 12 months and I cannot take my car (Hyundai Accent) there. There is no one to drive the car. I will be back home once a month and the car will run only then for a day or two. The car is 2011 model and recently serviced. Could you please advice how to best handle this situation? Remove battery? Any impact expected on central locking, AC, tyres and any other device? I would highly appreciate guidence on this based on your knowledge or past experience. Many thanks - Vinay

  3. Dear all, Please help me in deciding the regular servicing frequency for Hyundai Accent car. First three services are done now. The service center suggests every 4 months which I feel is a bit too short. Should it be 6 months or 1 year. I used to have yearly servicing for my previous car and that worked very well. Thanks for your suggestions, Vinay
  4. Reserve fuel capacity in Hyundai accent

Thanks for the reply. Information by Durango Dude was really helpful and that is what I was looking for. Basically, by reserve capacity I meant fuel left in the tank when LOW FUEL indicator lights up. I will check the above site for more inputs on this. Thanks again for the replies- Vinay
  5. Can anyone tell me how many liters of petrol is available in reserve capacity of Hyundai Accent? Thanks,
  6. Starting trouble

Maruti 800 2004 make. Starts alright on cold engine. But does not start when engine is hot. Even if it stalls after 2 mins from starting, it fails to start. Needs cranking 5 to 10 times after some time (5 to 10 mins) is allowed to cool it down. Guess this is fairly common problem. Any ideas on that? Thanks,
  7. Advice needed

Please help me decide buy a petrol sedan below 6 lakhs. Shortlisted are Swift Dezire, Hyundai Accent and Tata Indigo eCS. Running is not much- hardly 100 km a month- so mileage is not a criteria (but desirable of course from fuel conservation standpoint) Value for money (comfort, features, maintenance cost and price) is important consideration for the selection. Thanks in advance for your help
  8. Starting trouble with M800

Thanks guys for all your help. I got the car repaired at Maruti service center. Just for your information, the trouble was completely different. Even the mechanic in my area thought the problem to be with Spark plug head or spark plugs. But actually it was with idle control valve (which is just below the throttle valve). That was cleaned, fuel injector and throttle body was cleaned and the problem seems to be resolved now. In the retrospect, I realized that the engine was stalling when it was idling- e.g. when clutched or most of the times waiting for traffic lights. Another curious thing is music system now does not work when engine is idling. Any ideas on that?- Thanks once again for all your answers- Vinay

  10. Starting trouble with M800

....... Deleted I have started seeing starting trouble with my Maruti 800 (2007 make) in this monsoon. Battery is OK which was replaced just 10 months back. Ignition has to be tried 5-10 times for engine to fire. The worst part is during running, the engine stalls (loses the current according to mechanic) and I have a diffucult time in traffic. My question is is this something normal? Especially, the second part? Anyone who has experienced this before? Is it some serious problem or just a monsoon time trouble? Would appreciate if someone can answer these questions. Thanks a lot for your time and understanding... ........ DeletedNo salutations or sign off please. mods sgiitk2011-07-13 06:44:46
  11. Looking for an Economy Bike

Hi everyone, I am looking for a new bike for my daily commutation to office, which is around 20 km to and fro in City conditions. I am looking for an economy bike with a good fuel efficiency (in 100 and 125 cc segment). (Fuel efficiency takes priority over price) Please help me decide among the following- 1. Bajaj Platina 2. Hero Honda Passion plus 3. TVS Flame Thanks, Vinay
  12. Right Braking Habit

Hi, I would like to know the right braking method. Initially I was given to understand that use of clutch while braking helps in preventing unnecessary reverse load on the engine and enhances its life. However, now many have advised me to avoid use of clutch while braking saying that it will unnecessarily increase fuel consumption and will not have any adverse impact on engine life. So, in short, braking should be used only to avoid engine stalling after braking, Is that right?. Please adivice. Thanks, Vinay
