  1. Alternatives?

Our country's economy is on a rise now. Its evident because of the fact that, now a days we get to see cars on the roads that were absent till a few years ago like the Audis and the BMWs, well the BMWs and the Mercs were always there but not many in numbers like we get to see today. We also have a few high performance cars here too, occasionally we can spot a Lamborghini or a Porsche and if you are lucky you just might see an awesome blood red Ferrari too. And who doesn't want one of these? As a matter of fact most of us have a Ferrari or a Lamborghini as our dream cars and I am no exception to that. But there s a small problem, these cars cost a fortune. the price tag is like an ISD phone number, and if we want to buy 1 now we
  2. Curtain Call

As kids , we all have had our fair share of liking for super heroes. Initially almost everyone likes Superman may be because of the reason, he is perfect, no mere earthly object can harm him, he is, bullet-proof , can fly, faster than a speeding locomotive(the last phrase is actually there in the cartoon) etc, and then, we start to grow up. And one fine day we find the X-men, and in there we find Wolverine. But we never could figure out why we like him. He's brash, short tempered, bad mouthed, impossible to control and he can't even fly(therefore more earthly). But we think he's 'cool' in a very wildly "wicked" way. Now keeping that in mind lets come to cars. Every little boy loves toy cars, at least till his 10th birthday he wants nothing but cars(an, and I know most us would've had the little red pushback action Ferrari or a scale model with doors that could open when we were kids. Remember it now? We would play with superman on the Ferrari and drive the car around the house like a maniac, thinking to ourselves "I'm going to buy this car when I grow up." And grow up we did. Around the time we come across Wolverine we also come across, LAMBORGHINI. The tables turn, we don't want the invincible, balanced and perfect, red caped hero any more . We want some one who is brash, deranged and egoistic. This is where we fall head over heals for Lamborghinis, and Lamborghini has had a reputation of making the most brash, wildly styled and notoriously fast cars on this planet, that could make even the most experienced drivers wet their pants. Lamborghini becomes an icon for us, everybody is buying Lambo posters left, right and centre. First its the Countach with its massive air intakes, futuristic styling and tyres so wide that if flattened they could be used as a carpet for your living room. then in the 90s came the Diablo, appropriate name for that beast it really was the 'devil', with 4 wheels. It had a plenty of Countachness about it. But it was every petrolhead
  3. A Simple Question

A Simple Question. We as Indians have knack of criticising. We practically criticise everything, if the house is dirty, the maid is criticised for not cleaning properly. If the kid

  5. the greenest car

note: just a hypothetical review, this car doesn't exist, plz feel free to give your opinion on this article. The Greenest car<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Sometime ago I got some e-mails n some people went as far as calling me to say that we should feature and review some green cars in our column. So I passed the message on to my superiors about the
  6. Alternatives??

the initial investment is high no doubt but the return is lucrative as well.
  7. Alternatives??

yes agreed that we lack the infrastructure and the roads, but dont you think that these things will improve in 2-3 years time? plus lamborghini and ferrari cars r far more expensive to buy and equally expensive to run. but these cars are not. all i m trying to say is that if tata can buy out Land Rover and Jaguar plus a collaboration with Fiat and Mahindra has a collaboration with Renault and now mr Tata is planning to get Ferrari here too. if we can roll in the biggies then why not the smaller companies? coz lets face it not every one can shell out 2.5cr 4 a car. majority of the indian population is middle class and the std. of living is growing so if even 5% of the entire class can buy these cars, which i have no doubt they can or will bw able to in 3 yrs time these companies can make fortune. Plus the collaborators will benefit as well in other words our economy will benifit too
  8. GUYS I WANT SERIOUS HELP !!!

the honda unicorn would be without a doubt the best option for you because of 2 more reasons: 1: better after purchase services 2: availability of spare parts in both these areas suzuki lacks terribly
  9. Alternatives??

Our country's economy is on a rise now. The evidence is all around us, now a days we get to see cars on the roads that were absent till a few years ago like the audis and the bmw s, well the bmws and the mercs were always there but not many in numbers like we get to see these days. We also have a few few high performance cars here too ,occasionally we can spot a rare lamborghini or a porsche and if you are lucky you just might see a blood red awesome ferrari too.And who doesn't want one of these? as a matter of fact most of us have a ferrari or a lamborghini as our dream cars n i m no exception to that. But there s a small problem these cars cost a freaking fortune. the price tag is like an isd phone number, and if we wanna buy 1 now we ll probably have to sell our households including our families .It doesn't just end there, to run n maintain these beasts we'll have to either con our neighbours into selling themselves too, or join the mafia n make money the wrong way. Either way the run is going to be pretty short lived. By the time we, youngsters of today can afford one we ll probably be in that stage of our lives where every high speed turn will send us to the hospital for a neck concussion or a slipped disk. And therefore we can completely forget about picking up hot girls with the help of these superfast beauties while we are still young . People who do drive around in these cars either have super rich dads or maybe they struck oil someplace. Or maybe they are already married, have kids old enough to be married but are uneducated because daddy decided to buy a lambo. The worst part is that these cars are even more expensive in india because of the import duties. so the price almost doubles So its its pretty feasible to think that our dream of a high performance car is done for.....not quite. see thats the thing, there exist high performance cars that are relatively cheaper to buy and relatively cheaper to run and perhaps can be bought without unfair means and i m not talking about the porsche boxter. The cars i m talking about are the TVRs and the lotuses. These car makers have been making affordable performance cars for over 40 years but many people here do not know about them or their models. The TVR sagaris will cost us about 70L including duties and road tax(approx) it has a 4.0L speed six-engine producing 350bhp with 0-100 in 3.7 secs and flat out it does 180 mph and also has superb handling, and it looks good too. The lotus elise on the other hand costs rougly about 65L(approx) it has a 1.8L mid-mounted 4 cylinder engine gives 200bhp , 0-100 in 3.9 secs and a top speed of 156mph and has superb handling too. these cars cost almost 1/4 th the price of a lamborghini gallardo, almost 1/2 the price of a porsche 911 and these babies look and drive equally well and their performance figures are not bad either .The best bit is that they will not be burning a hole in your pocket every month after you ve managed to buy one. This means we can own these cars when we re still relatively young and possibly have some luck with the ladies as well. For people who can afford these cars in the present tense please do not get excited as you cannot buy them as yet , for the sole reason they are not being sold in India.....yet. But as the performance car market is growing in India i think the car majors should think about getting these cars here as well . So is anybody listening??
