  1. Audi today launched the facelifted model of its R8 in India at a price of Rs 1.34 crore (Ex showroom Delhi) for the V8 variant. It will also be available in as a V10. The V10 which is Lamborghini sourced puts out 518 bhp. The single biggest change to the R8 is the gearbox; the single-clutch robotised manual of old has been replaced by a dual-clutch unit. Developed specifically for the R8, the wet twin-clutch unit helps cut the 0-100kph time down by almost half a second, the ton now coming up in a claimed 3.8 seconds. And the top speed is 311kph. With the facelift, Audi has launched a new ‘Plus’ version of the R8 V10 coupé. It uses ultra-light forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which alone save 2kg. The front splitter is made of light carbon fibre, as are the rear diffuser and the R8’s trademark side blades. It all adds up to shave 50kg off the kerb weight of the standard R8 V10. The engine bay is lined with carbon fibre too, and that jewel of a motor now develops 542bhp. That means it’s finally on par with Lamborghini’s entry-level Gallardo LP550-2. And that is very good news. Here is a link to Autocar India's review http://www.autocarindia.com/Review/329354,audi-r8-facelift-review-test-drive.aspx
  2. Fiat Linea facelift is bound for Indian auto industry by the last quarrter of 2013. Production of the new Linea is scheduled to start from Sep 2013, at their Ranjangaon facility near Pune. Specially tuned to the Indian market, 2013 Linea will receive a new front fascia with new bumpers and grille. It will also receive a new lip spoiler, restyled rear bumpers and tail lamps along with chrome fittings. Interiors have also to be upgraded and will be seen in lighter tones with premium looking upholstery while there are three layered dual colors seen on the dashboard. In Turkey, Linea possesses a 1.3 liter Multijet II diesel engine and a 1.4 liter Multiair petrol engine while buyers in India will have to wait even more as the MultiAir is not going to feature in the new Linea. The current Linea model in India, comes with a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 114 PS power and 207 Nm torque. In Turkey, Linea facelift is priced between TRL 35,950 (Rs 10,94 lakhs) to TRL 55,440 (Rs 16.86 lakhs). Linea did not get its deserved sales numbers in India. Sales suffered primarily due to not so premium sales and service network in India, which was under the Fiat-Tata joint venture. As per recent updates received, Fiat will now be setting up their own sales and service networks through Fiat Exclusive Sales and Service networks which will enable the company to provide more personalized services directly to their customers in the coming year. 3. Guess this is the first ever undisguised image of the updated Spark. Styling is clearly inspired from the EV concept shown at the auto expo but somehow that looked better than this one. I find this personally a bit over done. Source: http://indianautosblog.com/2012/10/chevrolet-spark-facelift-spied
  4. SCOOP: Ford Figo face-lift

Launched in 2010, the Ford Figo is all-set to get a mid-life update. We
  5. Recently, we'd seen test-runs of new fluidic I10 & now It's rival is ready to feight against it! The facelifted Alto (known as the A-star in India) has finally made its official debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in China. The new design now makes the cute looking front very edgy and mature. The round and bubbly headlamps are replaced by an elongated and much sharper ones. The headlamps are joined with a sleek looking front grill that gets a chrome bar with the “S” logo sitting proudly on top. The bumpers have also gone under the knife and look much better with this design. The fog lamp enclosure too gets some curves and cuts and gives the car a beef upped look. The centre bumper grill is inline with the upper grill’s slope and together they both lend the trapezoidal appearance to the whole front grill area. The rear too gets to see some changes in the bumper area, which now comes in two tone. This reduces the visual bulk that the older design had and also makes the car look a bit sporty. The tail-lamps too have been revamped and add to the freshness of the looks. That reverse parking lights in tail-lamp is similar wth one in Ford Fiesta Classic & Skoda Rapid. The interior is said to be updated, although the changes are barely noticeable. I think the changes are limited to the upholstery and the shade of the plastics. The price for this facelifted version in China starts from 39900 yuan (roughly Rs. 3.5 Lakhs) and goes upto 64300 yuan (roughly Rs. 5.6 lakhs). It will be powered by a 1Litre, 3 cylinder gasoline engine that produces 71 hp and 92Nm of torque. All this power can be transmitted to the front wheels either through a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gear box. The main cause of rejection for A-STAR was It's ugly looks & This new facelift may help to improve the sells & stand as a strong Competitor against I10. Please Share your views.
  6. Maruti A-star facelift?

Suzuki China will give a cosmetic update to the A-star (Sold as the Alto in China) very soon. There are various spy pics doing rounds of the updated A-star from China. The ultimate question here is that if Maruti brings this to India, will it help boost A-star sales? We all know the A-star aint doing that good in the Indian market. Maruti still sells it here because basically India is the export base for the A-star which is sold as the Alto or Celerio in other international markets. Well here are the pics of the China market A-star update, looks quite nice to me, I feel it will give a boost to the sales in India if it comes here.
  7. Chevy Beat Facelift

There is lot of heat in small hatch segment & to even hit-up more Chevy will be showcasing showcasing the India bound 2013 Beat at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The new car sports a bigger grille, redesigned front bumper with a single piece air dam finished in black plastic. The fog lamps have been placed at the edges of the air dam with chrome surrounds.Other changes include newly designed alloy wheels and rocker panel. The tail lamp cluster has been tweaked, the rear stop lamp has been relocated from the inside to the rear spoiler and the lower plastic section of the rear bumper gets a body coloured section in the middle. The car also gets a bigger tail pipe. The inside features a redesigned centre console with a new infotainment system, and instrument cluster with a more attractive speedo and circular digital rev counter. The engine options will remain the same in India with the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.0-litre diesel engine, which may prove a downside, as it's not as good as it's compititors! Do share your opinions on it!
  8. Land Rover is set to unveil the facelift Freelander at the upcoming Moscow Motor Show. These are the first pictures of the new car. The subtle exterior tweaks include new re-profiled front and rear lights that feature the latest in Xenon and LED technology. The grille also gets a new finish. The interior is where all the major changes are seen. The chief addition is an all-new centre console. This houses a new 7-inch touchscreen that incorporates the audio controls for the all-new Meridian audio system. This upmarket audio system will also be available in the all-new Range Rover. The dial of the Terrain Response system behind the gear lever is replaced by a series of switches, which also frees up additional storage space. The parking brake is now electrically operated. There is a new 5-inch colour screen that sits between the instrument dials in the instrument panel, while the docking station for the key has been replaced by a keyless go system, which allows the engine to be started as long as the key is present in the car. There is also the addition of a new Dynamic trim in some global markets. This new variant comes with 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, a bodykit and gloss black trim for exterior detailing. The Freelander’s engine range carries over unchanged from before, and will be powered by a 2.2-litre turbodiesel producing 148bhp (SD) and 187bhp (HSE). Hope to see JLR get this to India superquick. I assume it will be assembled at the Pune facility
  9. Chevrolet has launched the new Captiva with a facelift and a new engine as well starting at Rs. 18.74 lakhs. However the new 2.2 litre 186.5 bhp diesel will be available on the AWD Automatic only and that comes at Rs. 24.59 lakhs Ex Showroom Delhi. I have always liked the Captiva as a car but somehow I feel this new one is a tad overpriced. Cant wait to try it out though. What do you guys feel? Will the new Captiva work at this price?
