  1. The gorgeous Evoque may have stolen its thunder but the new freshened up Freelander 2 takes care of that to some extent. The new Freelander 2 has new colours, exterior design features, upgraded equipment levels. The exterior design details have been revamped including a more contemporary lights front and rear using the LED technology and a new signature graphic in the front running lights. The XS model gains all-new 17-inch alloy wheels and an enhanced bodystyling pack. The new colours are Aintree Green, Havana and Mauritius Blue. The grille and fog lamp bezels now sport a bright finish and there are paint detailing changes to the front grille surround, insert bars and fender vent to harmonise the different elements. The interiors see the bigger changes including a brand new centre console. A new instrument cluster with a 5-inch screen displaying primary vehicle-related information, such as temperature and fuel levels, gear positions and Terrain Response mode, now sits between the dials across the Freelander model range, complemented with steering wheel toggle switches to operate the clearest of drop down menus and vehicle set-up details. Cabin space and safety are improved with the introduction of an intelligent electric parking brake which adjusts brake force according to the slope the vehicle is parked on. The system takes into account whether the brakes are hot or cold. If hot, the system 'wakes up' periodically to ensure clamping force is not lost as the brakes cool down. Despite being operated by a single switch, the electric parking brake may still be used as an emergency brake, automatically selecting the most stable braking method by employing skid prevention techniques. An additional safety feature ensures the brake cannot be released unless the driving seat is occupied. Another new feature for Land Rover Freelander 2 is rear view camera capability. The view from the back of the vehicle is displayed on the Infotainment screen with dynamic lines representing the boundaries of the vehicle and your predicted path as you reverse. The system also incorporates 'Hitch Assist', a graphic superimposed on the camera showing the position of the tow ball. Engine wise the petrol has been changed but has no relevance to the Indian market as the diesel is sold because diesel engines are of high importance in our market and though the petrol will be a good addition to the range do not have high hopes to get this engine in India. The new Freelander 2 will come next year as Land Rover has just launched the new Range Rover in our market and we expect this to come in the starting of the next financial year. When it comes to price do not expect a massive price change and Land Rover would like to keep it competitive as possible ro compete with the Audi Q3 and others. (Source : www.Gaadi.com)
  2. The Italian racing car makers, Abarth makes its way into India in 2013, via Fiat. Fiat Chrysler India has recently announced that all Abarth models will be sold through their specially nominated Fiat dealers in India. Despite a difficult economic situation prevalent across the globe, the Fiat India has announced its optimistic plans for the future wherein they hope to see enhanced sales. Fiat Group is also bringing in the Fiat brand into India in the coming year and Abarth is also scheduled to be launched around the same time. Initially, the company will be offering 500 Abarth and Grande Punto Evo which will be sold through Fiat dealerships. The 500 Abarth possesses a 1.4 liter 16 valve, 136 bhp turbo petrol engine. It weights 1035 kgs and almost matches power to weight ratio of a BMW 325i. Prices and other details will be announced closer to launch dates in India. (Source : www.rushlane.com)
  3. The all new Fiat Grande Punto will make its debut in 2014 and hopefully come to India in the same year. Grande Punto though being a good car has not able to turn Fiat’s fortune in India. The lack of after sales service and marketing by Fiat has costed the beautiful and well built car suffer in competition with half baked Japanese, American and Indian cars. The next generation Grande Punto will have a much more dynamic design and come with latest technologies from Fiat. The more advance Multi-jet engine is also expected to come through the new Grande Punto. With a good design, more interior space and higher ground clearance, the next generation Grande Punto has something promising for the future in India, and of course Fiat has to work really hard on the marketing and after sales service. Fiat recently split from Tata to open their own chain of dealership franchise in the name of Fiat Cafe. (Source : www.automobileplanet.com)
  4. Fiat Linea facelift is bound for Indian auto industry by the last quarrter of 2013. Production of the new Linea is scheduled to start from Sep 2013, at their Ranjangaon facility near Pune. Specially tuned to the Indian market, 2013 Linea will receive a new front fascia with new bumpers and grille. It will also receive a new lip spoiler, restyled rear bumpers and tail lamps along with chrome fittings. Interiors have also to be upgraded and will be seen in lighter tones with premium looking upholstery while there are three layered dual colors seen on the dashboard. In Turkey, Linea possesses a 1.3 liter Multijet II diesel engine and a 1.4 liter Multiair petrol engine while buyers in India will have to wait even more as the MultiAir is not going to feature in the new Linea. The current Linea model in India, comes with a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 114 PS power and 207 Nm torque. In Turkey, Linea facelift is priced between TRL 35,950 (Rs 10,94 lakhs) to TRL 55,440 (Rs 16.86 lakhs). Linea did not get its deserved sales numbers in India. Sales suffered primarily due to not so premium sales and service network in India, which was under the Fiat-Tata joint venture. As per recent updates received, Fiat will now be setting up their own sales and service networks through Fiat Exclusive Sales and Service networks which will enable the company to provide more personalized services directly to their customers in the coming year. 5. In India the Grand Vitara has not been as successful as its stablemates. Primarily due to its thirsty petrol engine. At a time when diesel rules in the SUV segment customers see no point in going for a petrol engined SUV- that factor has led to the downfall of the Vitara. But for all you Vitara fans out there, there is light at the end of the tunnel in form of the new face-lifted Vitara which has just made its debut in the UK markets. The reason behind posting this thread is the Vitara will no more be powered with a guzzling petrol engine but with a diesel. Yes, with the 1.9-litre DDiS 127bhp diesel engine, the Vitara has another chance to have a second life in the still diesel centric market. This diesel is smooth and also has bags of torque to go with it. Plus needless to say the efficiency will be much better than the current petrol unit. Though it is not just about the diesel engine but the styling tweaks that have made the Vitara a more attractive package. At the front of the car the bumper and grille have been re-styled with a more angular design and the foglamp styling has been revised. Additional changes include inner headlight black accents on 5 door SZ5 models, and new design 17” or 18” alloy wheels. As the spare wheel is mounted on the rear door the Grand Vitara grows in length by 200mm. This feature particularly adds some muscle to the design. The diesel has also been honered for better performance and economy. The question is, "Will india see the Vitara's comeback?" Yes, in the future we can expect! Though whether it will have the diesel is still uncertain but Maruti being experts at the Indian auto-market will know that a diesel is important if the Vitara wants another shot at the Indian SUV segment. I certainly think this has a lot of potential in India. I mean here is a diesel SUV that looks nice & has a diesel and will have the biggest service and sales set-up to back it, don’t bet against it! 7. Reader from Indian Autos Blog, Mr. S.R.Vishnuvardhan has spotted the fully electric Mahindra Maxximo Minivan being tested in Bangalore. The test mule was painted in green and the rear carries a bold ‘Electric’ monicker. The test mule also had alloy wheels suggesting that it may be used for a public display anytime soon. The badge reads ‘Maxximo powered by Reva’. This can only mean that the Minivan was engineered by Mahindra-Reva in Bengaluru. The specifications of the electric powertrain is not yet to be revealed. There is no change in the styling of the vehicle and the only visual change is the missing tailpipe. Mahindra had showcased the electric version of Maxximo load carrier at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo and the Varito EV was brought to the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo and .These vehicles, except for the Maxximo load carrier, were powered by Reva’s hardware. Next Story is about Gio based 6 seater electric Rikshaw! Indian autos blog officials have managed to grab some pics of it & also tried their hands on it & surprisingly they were pretty impressed with it! According to them it comfortably manages 50 Kmph! Reva’s products having clocked more number of electric miles on road than any other electric car manufacturer in the world and their experience in electric powertrains is sure to give Mahindra a clear advantage in zero emission technologies. Sources tell IndianAutosBlog.com that Mahindra is reportedly working on the hybrid version of the XUV500 which will be benefited by the Reva’s know-how of electric motors. However, whether India is ready to embrace the electric propulsion technology is yet to be seen. According to sources, XUV500 EV is also in the workshop & may hit the street within next 2 years

  9. Chevy ENJOY is coming....

Toyota Qualice was a good vehicle & shocked the MPV market! It was instant hit with winning hearts of large families, Tour Oprators & our Favorite ACP Pradyumna! It's replacement the INNOVA showed Similar magic! but It was more upmarket & more carlike, so It doesn't appeal that much to rural parts & cheap tour operators! Chevy grabbed this opportunity & filled this emty place with their Tavera! Though no-one appreciated, It sold very well! But due to new entries like Xylo Facelift, Maruti Ertiga & Nissan Evalia, GM was pertty tensed & they launched their MPV, which may provide them a reason to ENJOY! A guy named, Neeraj Setpal from www.indianautosblog.com caught it tasting & according to sources on the same site, It'll launch after the Sail twins have been deployed, so expect the launch to coincide with Diwali time. In pictures we can see, base model which lacks alloy wheels, body colored mirrors and door handles, fog lights and metallic paint. It's front grill & Headlamps are vey similar to Ford Endeavour. Acoording to them they've also caught fully loaded version, but were unable to capture it in camera. They mentioned that, GM India has been testing fully loaded Enjoys with black interior and entry-level variants with beige interior, which is weired! According too rumors, It will be powered by the same 1.3L Fiat-sourced Multi-jet engine and a modified 1.4L petrol engine, currently serving on the Aveo. The Enjoy’s suspension was tuned by Lotus Engineering, credited with lending many Indian cars a magic carpet of a ride! It could give tough time to Evalia, Ertiga & Xylo! Do share your views about this!
