Not only that it accompanies new DRLs, revised headlamps, tail light cluster and a premium interior. Both petrol and diesel just for 8 Lakhs. Must have sedan! 4. SAIC will soon come to India. There are talks that it will bring the MG-Motor brand to our market first. But they also have this butch LDV 90 SUV in their line-up which is also sold in Australia. This means, they have a RHD version too. I think this can be a good rival to the Compass, Fortuner and the likes if priced aggressively.
  5. Bad Experience with Renault

Hi Guys, I booked a Renault Duster on the 30th of October 2013 from RENAULT THANE under the offer of 30,000 Exchange Benefit - 4 yr Warranty - Road Side Assistance - Gang of Dusters Membership. He asked me to submit my old car by 31st of October which was not possible as within 12hrs. decision couldn't be made. He later called me up and said the offer is over and I wont get any of those despite me booking the car in offer period. I sold my old car later on 12th of November and found on 14th the same offer has restarted in Newspaper. I had to give him the full payment but didn't give as now since I waited this long I wanted a car with a manufacturing year of 2014 since only one month was left in 2014. I told the same to the sales person and he said that the new lot will arrive in mid March or April. Just to confirm the same I called Renault Andheri and they said that it will come by end January. I had to bow down to his demand and promised him to give full payment by Tuesday 3rd December. Hearing this he yesterday i.e. 30th November gave me call at 7pm saying that Renault is hiking car prices of Duster by 30,000 - 40.000 and only way you can save yourself the money is by making the full payment by tonight (which bank is open at 7pm). I said that I couldn't do it and he replied by saying "sorry sir then its out of my hands now".I did the same as earlier and called the Renault Andheri showroom and the sales person there said that "the customer who has booked a car at earlier price is given a weeks time to do the payment at earlier price after the announcement of the price hike". As a matter of fact my sales person gave me 2 hours to do the same. Now neither I can buy a 2014 manufactured car, nor get away from paying the increased price. So here I think I ended up being a loser. GUYS PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW.

  9. Global car giant Toyota Motor Corporation will consider launching moresmall cars and entering fast growing segments like compact SUVs in order to achieve market leadership in India. The company, however, said in the absence of a clear cut Indian government policy relating the auto industry such as fuel policy and import tariff, it is adopting a wait and watch strategy before deciding on setting up of a new diesel engine plant in the country or launching more hybrid cars. "If you look at our portfolio in India, we have just one small car, Liva. We need more if we have to have big volumes in a fast growing market like India," Toyota Motor Corporation Managing Officer Satoshi Ohiso told reporters here. While he did not share details of the company's future product launches, Ogiso said another prime focus of the company is the fast growing compact SUV segment. "Globally, the compact SUV segment is getting more popular and in India it is also the same. We will definitely have our presence there," he said, without elaborating details. 10. Looks like there are a lot of Chinese cars testing now on Indian roads. Here are pictures of a Great Wall Haval H3 SUV testing around Pune. Great Wall Motors is China's 8th largest car maker. Engine wise, Great Wall licenses one of the engines from Mitsubishi: a 2.4-liter inline four cylinder engine. For China alone, Great Wall sells the H3 with a 2.5 and 2.8 petrol engines as well. Power transmission is performed by a 5-speed manual unit, though a 6-speed automatic was developed for the Hover H7. Great Wall is China’s biggest domestic SUV brand. It sold 280,000 Haval branded SUV models in 2012, posting almost a 90% increase compared to 2011. As sales soared, Great Wall felt the brand pull of Haval was strong enough for it to be autonomous. Thus Haval became a sub-brand and the refreshed lineup sporting the new brand plate was brought to the Shanghai Auto Show last month. Source: IndianAutosBlog
  11. Skoda is all set to pull the plug on the Fabia and will stop selling its only hatchback in Indian the market. However, Skoda will finish assembling Fabia kits before stopping production and hence the Fabia will continue to be sold, possibly till the end this year, until stocks are exhausted. Skoda’s decision to withdraw the hatchback from the market was prompted by the huge losses the company has been incurring on the Fabia. Successive price cuts over the years to prop up demand has seen this car shedding almost 40 per cent of its price tag since its launch in 2008, which badly squeezed margins. The Fabia’s relatively low level of local content made it very expensive to produce and this problem was compounded by the Indian Rupee depreciation of 36 percent since 2008 which pushed up costs even higher. According to industry sources, Skoda was losing as much as Rs. 1.5 lakh per car and hence the company was deliberately refraining from aggressively marketing the Fabia which sold a meagre 3,343 units in the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Last month Skoda sold a paltry 115 units. Earlier this year, Honda withdrew its premium hatchback the Jazz, for similar reasons as the car was just too expensive too produce. Read more here: Fabia to be discontinued I think this is a good move by Skoda. I was never really a fan of the Fabia, never liked the front end especially and always found it to be overpriced. The Polo outsold Fabia by a huge margin really and to be honest Im happy to see it go.

  16. India-bound Jeep Cherokee revealed

Here is the picture of the Cherokee that is the first model will be produced after the alliance of Chrysler and Fiat. It is slated to be officially unveiled at the New York motor show in March, and will replace the company’s smaller SUV, the Liberty, internationally. Mind you this is not the Big Daddy Grand Cherokee but more of an entry level crossover, which could be priced in the Honda CR-V range. The new Jeep Cherokee is based on a version of Fiat’s ‘Compact Wide’ platform, which underpins the US-market Dodge Dart saloon, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Fiat Viaggio. The platform is capable of accommodating a four-wheel-drive system, V6 engines and diesels, all of which will be available in the new Jeep. The petrol V6, which is unlikely to make it to India, will be a 3.2-litre version of Chrysler’s 3.6-litre unit. It will also be the first Fiat-Chrysler vehicle to get a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. This transmission is said to be “the future of the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive world of Chrysler”, according to CEO Sergio Marchionne. 18. I've been using this car since July 2012 (all thanks to my boss! )and yes this is my company car- a 2009 Tata Nano LX. Regular readers of the Autocar India magazine would recognize this one instantly! Here's why.. This is the car that was one of the first Nano's to roll off the showrooms and we gave you a full dealership and buying experience when we bought it. AND this is the car that was featured in numerous reviews, road test, long term tests in Autocar India. YES! This is the car that did the epic trip from Singur to Sanad. and Yes (If i am not wrong!) This is one of the very few Nano's that can proudly be called as "Made in Singur"! One of my best experiences with this car was in December last year when I took the car for a routine service at Tata Motors' workshop in Worli Mumbai. A young chap of around 20 was curiously checking out this golden nano. I saw him seeing the car for almost ten mins from various angles. Feeling suspicious, I went near him and seeing me, he raised a question, sir, is this your car? I said yes, Its a company car. But may I i know why do you ask? He said yes, I remember this one, 4068. Its Autocar India's Nano! I remember this one very well. This is the one that made me take the happy decision of buying my first car and then he pointed out towards a yellow one that he had brought for servicing. Hearing all this from him made me proud of the iconic little wonder that I get to use daily and also the publication I work for. This is just one story, I have come accross some more people who remember the cute 4068 very well. One of my colleagues who was part of the Singur to Sanand Drive also bought a similar Nano as a personal car and there are many more! Will come up with more of my experiences with the Nano soon. Its indeed "Khushiyo ki Chaabi" for many Indians! and yes it has more features ( little things that matter) which are not available in the newer 800cc cars! So today (17/2/2013) I took the car to Motoshines, Saki Naka for a steam wash and interior cleaning. Now let the pictures do the talking! This is the place I went to get the car cleaned, Motoshines, Saki Naka, Mumbai The car before cleaning treatment The floor-mats getting cleaned Interior gets a through vacuum done Clean interior for sure Steam wash process starts and more steam wash and some more Ozone treatment starts, this is a treatment done to remove all foul odor from the interior of the car. Total time for the Ozone treatment was 15 mins. The tyres getting the "shine treatment" Clean, real clean interiors and seats. The dash got a mild wax polish done too! Ready to go! Total time for this process, approx 45min to one hour. Approxmate cost: Rs 500 for both steam wash and interior treatment.
  19. Nissan today launched the Nissan Safety Driving Forum in India. This is to create awareness for road safety and educate people on the importance of safety features in cars today. The event was launched in Mumbai today in the parking lot of InOrbit Mall Malad, Mumbai, where it will go on for the 16th and 17th of February 2013. The event is open for general public. This will be followed by events in Delhi and Chennai as well. Mr Takayuki Ishida, the M.D. and CEO of Nissan India and Mr Nitish Tipnis Director Sales and Marketing for Hover Automotive were present at the event. Mr Tipnis made it clear that there will be no compromise on safety in any of Nissan’s models or variant and that even the entry level base models will come with important safety features. There were 3 simulators that were kept at the event for every one to try. One specific one I would to mention is the simulator to emphasize seat belt importance where you would sit in a Nissan Micra and it would be flipped 360 degrees of course in slow motion thus illustrating how important belting up is today in the event of a rollover. Apart from that there were displays on road safety as well as the body shell of a Nissan Micra as well. Simulators focusing on Airbags and Braking systems were also seen. I did try the simulators myself and found them quite interesting In my opinion, this is an excellent initiative by Nissan. There should be more such event by manufacturers in the future More pictures in the next post

  22. It was announced in December that Chrysler will be entering India with the Jeep brand. And now here we have a scoop picture of the Jeep models which are slated to be launched in India. This pic was taken by an Autocar India reader. The first Jeep product to hit our shores will be the iconic Wrangler. The Jeep Wrangler made its debut in 1987 as the successor to the famous World War II Jeep, also known as Willys CJ (Civilian Jeep). The latest-generation Wrangler (code: JK), like the original CJ, uses front and rear live-axles. Fiat is testing the short as well as the long wheelbase versions, and is likely to launch both in India. The Jeep Wrangler arriving here is expected to be powered by a 2.8-litre common-rail diesel engine that’s good for 197bhp. The next Jeep model seen in the spy picture is the Grand Cherokee. Codenamed WK2, this is the fourth-gen Grand Cherokee, powered by a 3.0-litre common-rail diesel that makes 237bhp and is a proper luxury SUV. The Grand Cherokee was recently given a facelift that included some cosmetic as well as mechanical upgrades such as an 8-speed gearbox. Although this looks like the pre-facelift version, we expect Jeep to launch the updated model in India. The Grand Cherokee is based on the Mercedes-Benz M-class – it is thoroughly modern and promises to offer superb off-road ability with plush, comfortable interiors. Initially, both the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee will be offered as CBUs. Chrysler has already set up an R&D centre in Chennai that houses about 1,000 employees and is the third-largest Chrysler R&D facility worldwide.
