Honda has just revised its WR-V range for 2019 and has added a new mid-level trim caller the 'V'. The new V trim is priced at Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). 2. Polo GT TSI vs GT TDI

Guys, I'm amid one of the biggest dilemmas in my life. I'm unable to decide between Polo GT TSI and the Polo GT TDI. Here are my struggling thoughts: Had a Test drive on the GT TSI and the auto DSG gearbox is absolutely delightful and fun to drive, but worried about the sub-par 12-13 city petrol consumption ! Had a Test drive on the regular Polo 1.2 diesel (not the GT TDI) and while the engine is decent, I didn't quite feel it amazing when compared to GT TSI. (Even the I20 1.4 diesel felt much smoother). Now my question is will the GT TDI, with it's much advanced 1.6 diesel engine (the one in the Vento 1.6 diesel model), be significantly better than the 1.2 diesel variant and comparable to the GT TSI's performance and fun? If Yes, then I can stick to GT TDI, as I'm a bit concerned about the fuel efficiency as well. If No, then TSI is the one for me. If anyone has driving experience on the Vento or Polo in general, please help me to decide !
  3. Ambassador hatchback coming in 2014

The Ambassador refuses to die and next year it will be back in a new avtaar as a hatchback. Buoyed by recent sales growth, the C K Birla group company has taken up an ambitious project to introduce the hatchback Ambassador by the end of 2013-14. "We have just started the R&D (research and development) work. This hatchback version of the Ambassador will have all kinds of features and better interior, which a new-age customer looks for," Uttam Bose, managing director and chief executive officer of HM, told Business standard. The car, which is at the "designing stage", will be built on the existing Ambassador platform at its Uttarpara plant. "The brand name Ambassador will be used for the car. There may or may not be a sub-brand," Bose said. Before that, in the second quarter of the next financial year, HM will introduce a sub-four metre Ambassador. "In the coming June, we will launch the BS IV-compliant diesel variant of the Ambassador. This will be a replica of the existing model Ambassador, just changing the engine,” he said. At present, the Ambassador has BS-III emission norms-compliant diesel engine. The company is still selling these models in Kolkata, the biggest market for the Ambassador cars, as the state government has exempted the model from BS-IV norms, for now. 4. Hello, I have been driving a i10 for the last 3 1/2 yrs and had a hatch before that for 3 yrs as well. Now I guess its time for me to take the leap, move to a SUV and this time not selling the current hatch for small errands and city use. Apart from driving a Innova a few hundred kms on several trips, I have no experience of driving a hatch and so when i decided to buy one for our small family I though it was best to ask the experts for advise. My budget is in the range of 22-25L and I am looking for something with good interiors, a decent list of gadgets and features. I wont be off roading, so I am not looking for a monster, but good/large interiors would be of help. I wont be loading 7 people always when we travel, but a good 3rd row will help for extra space and stuff to carry. I would like to buy in around Mar/April '13 on one of the festive ocassions. No other stringent requirements, so please help me decide what options should i start looking at, cos the list of available SUVs in the market is just confusing the hell out of me. I am keen to hear from one and all..and if you also went through a shortlisting & decision cycle to shortlist your SUV, then please share that, so it may b just help me align my thoughts as well. I appreciate the help ..all fellow car enthusiasts and experts. Ash
  5. In one of the biggest SCOOPs in recent times, Hondas global CEO has confirmed that it will be launching an entry level diesel sedan based on the Brio for India and it will be launched BEFORE the Brio diesel hatch. Of course both these cars are coming in the next fiscal. Exciting times for the Indian car buyers ahead. Do you think these cars will be game changers? Im sure these will open up price wars up and down the segments. What do you think?
  6. We were just mourning the demise of the Polo 1.6 few days ago but it looks like Toyota is set to make petrol heads smile. Currently a special edition has been launched with body kit et al. But the big news is that Toyota is going to launch the Liva with the 1.5 litre engine from the Etios. Toyota is not looking at selling huge volumes of this variant but it will be targetted towards those who think with their hear rather than the head.. It will obviously be significantly more expensive that the 1.2. I feel this car looks promising with a lot of scope for mods. Only remains to be seen how much one will have to shell out for it. 7. Hitesh Kalra, a reader of Autocar India sent in this picture to us. This is the Ford Fiesta Hatch and was spotted by him at Delhi Airport. Looks much better than the sedan in my opinion. Would make a nice premium hatch if Ford would launch this in India. Even the wheels look like 17 inchers. For sure this is a better looker than the sedan. What do you think? Would something like this sell considering the Optra SRV didnt find too many takers?
