  1. Hello everyone, I want recommendations as which car is the best buy here? Looks - i20 is a lot better as I simply dislike flat front and rear of amaze Features - Both are on par. i20 just adds 4 extra airbags and projector headlamps Price - i20 asta is cheaper by 40K than Amaze but i20 Asta (o) is costlier by 40K [on road] Drive - Both are equally good and refined. Engine/power/torque almost identical. i20 feels peppier. Please provide feedback. The car is to be driven by my sister. Thanks!
  2. Honda India, the domestic arm of Japanese car maker, seems all set to introduce its much awaited Amaze sedan in the Indian auto market. Interested buyers can now book the upcoming model at the authorised dealerships of Honda India by paying an amount of Rs. 10,000. Industry experts believe that Honda Amaze will make its grand entry somewhere in April in the Indian auto market. However, it must be noted that the auto maker has not revealed the exact pricing and other details of the upcoming Amaze sedan yet.

    I am planning to buy Honda City. Currently Seventh Generation Face Lifted Honda City is being sold in India. I have read few articles stating that Next Generation Honda City will be launched around February 2018. I am planning to get the latest Honda City as possible. Will there be a updated version of Honda City in 2018? Should I wait for Honda City 2018 (FaceLift/Next Generation)? Please advice me on this.
  5. The new Honda CRV is all set to hit Indian shores early 2013. Looks good and overall seems to be a nice car too. But it lacks the all important thing..a diesel engine. The current CRV hasnt been moving of the shelves in recent times and sales are next to nothing. And here comes an all new model which Im sure will be more expensive.     Honda had first showcased the urban SUV concept at the Detroit Motor Show and looks like Honda is doing some serious testing of the vehicle. Here are the first spy shots of the Urban SUV testing .The car seems to look a lot similar to the concept that was shown earlier this year. The SUV is based on the new Jazz and should go on sale next year. This would also be perfect for India and the it should come here with the 1.5 litre diesel engine that is currently doing duty in the Amaze. This will go up against the existing compact SUVs in our market.   10. Motorcycle pulling towards right.

    Few days back my Honda Dazzler fell towards right while riding all due to stupid auto driver who overtook me without any warning & went away without stopping & bike pretty much took a heavy hit as the speed was approx. 40 kmph. After few days I had changed its cone set because bike was making "khat khat" sound whenever I used to go over a pothole it was way before falling & cone set had to be changed. After installing new cone set my bike has been wobbling I went to Honda service center they checked & mechanic tightened the center big nut which is below handle bar, after that wobbling issue went away now the bike pulls towards right whenever I go over small potholes or a road filled with continuous potholes at a decent speed of 20 kmph, bike starts to pull towards right. Again I went to Honda service center to rectify the issue. They test drove it did some adjustment to the big center nut problem got rectified but again there was a slight pull towards right service center said that handlebar has been bent towards right so it is pulling towards right. So I said ok, make it aligned they kept the bike for whole day & I guess they had aligned the handle & said everything has been done. After few days again the bike started to pull towards right whenever I go over small potholes or road filled with continuous potholes. Now really I've not idea what is causing the problem & I cannot leave my bike in service center for whole day. Has anyone had the same or similar problem? What is the solution to this problem?
  11. Had a lot of free time on Sundays, so decided to do something creative and ended up deciding to paint the engine cover of my '07 Honda Civic 1.8V. Took me around an hour and is a totally DIY job with no expertise. Step 1: Remove the engine cover from your car (mostly a couple of screws hold it there). Step 2: Mask off or remove any decal and logos that are there on the engine cover. Step 3: Use a glossy or matt rattle can spray paint (I preferred a gloss red). Step 4: Spread a sheet of old newspaper and put the cover on it (you don't want to spoil your floor). Step 5: Heat the rattle can with a hair drier so that the flow is even and no clotting takes place. Step 6: Evenly spray a coat of spray paint and it let it dry in fan for about half an hour. Step 7: Spray a second coat of paint and let it fully dry. Step 8: After the paint has dried, carefully unmask or put back any decals or logos that you had removed earlier. Step 9: Put the engine cover back in the car, and you're done. I was liking the red engine cover so ended up painting the compressor head and the hose also in red colour.

  13. Hi, I own a Yamaha SS 125 and considering an upgrade. I am 5'7" tall and weigh 62 Kgs. I am confused between Yamaha SZ - RR, Suzuki GS 150R and Honda Trigger. Below are my priorities listed in descending order (higher to lower). I live in Bangalore and my riding will be mostly in city and little bit of weekend getways ranging 150 kms to and fro. Handling Braking Performance Comfort Price Mileage Concerns about mentioned bikes: Trigger - Not that easy to zip through traffic Suzuki GS 150R - 6 gears which could be troublesome in traffic and rear seat looks very tall Yamaha SZ - RR - Plastics surrounding tank might get damaged easily in parking Please advise me which one to choose and why?
  14. Honda has just launched a facelift version of the Brio hatch in Thailand. The main addition here is the rear wiper and washer. A chrome plate on the rear hatch is also seen. The Brio for Thailand gets two new color options – Rally Red and Modern Steel Grey. A new top-end variant called the V Limited AT has also been introduced.   15. I'm referring to the Autocar Comparison of the 4 diesel sedans here - City, Verna, Rapid and Vento. The comments in this article are quite stirring. While Autocar has crowned the City as the overall all rounder. Now, I agree that each one of us here would be looking for different things from the product they would choose to buy. But terming a very noisy, all aluminium diesel (I really have my doubts on this one. Can anyone pls explain how this is a good idea?), just a facelift - exorbitantly pricey, low quality plastics on dash and open wires in boot as a winner in this shoot out?? I just do not understand. Probably with the latest 2014 edition of the Verna, that sounds more like an all rounder save for the claustrophobic rear and less under thigh support there.. but that car ticks all the right boxes then. Quality, safety and good road manners coupled with reliability and good service should define a good product. Especially when you're in the market with about 10 lacs!! Agree, no one drives like a Schumaker in everyday traffic... Just because the Germans are quite understated and lack the gadgetry does not mean that they are no winners... I'm not taking sides here but rooting for something which offers fancy gadgets and bouncy rides along with undone parts (wires hanging in the boot and low quality dash) just does not make me comfortable enough to accept the verdict Autocar has posted. Any views?

The 6th Generation Honda City is just around the corner and Honda dealers in India are clearing their inventory of the outgoing model by giving discounts of as much as Rs.40,000 on the vehicle!! The Next Gen Honda City will be unveiled in India on the 25th of November 2013. The unveil of the Honda City will be the global showcasing of this car. Apart from the Indian car market, Honda has plans of selling the Next Gen City in many other car markets across the world including many South East Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Previous generations of the City sold here in India have been made available only with petrol engines. As a result, the City lost a huge chunk of its market share to new diesel powered entrants such as the Hyundai Fluidic Verna and the Volkswagen Vento. Honda got a taste of success when it launched the Amaze with a diesel option. Hence, in an attempt to regain and maintain its leadership in the midsized sedan segment the Next Gen City will be powered by the same oil burner that powers the Amaze. However, it is expected that the motor would get a Variable Geometry Turbocharger and hence would have at least 118PS of max power and is likely to have around 225Nm of peak torque. Alongside the diesel, it is expected that the car will come with a 1.5 Liter 4 cylinder Direct Injection petrol engine option which was showcased last year. The new petrol motor produces 127 Bhp of max power and 154 Nm of peak torque. The new 1.5 litre Direct injection petrol motor comes laden with various new technologies such as High-tumble port, Low-tension piston rings, Patterned piston coating, Mass EGR, 2-stage relief oil pump, Lightweight engine block construction and Start-Stop system. This new motor comes under the banner of the much publicised Honda Earth Dreams Technology, and will have high fuel economy and low emissions. But as per Autocar India, the outgoing City’s 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine is likely to be carried over with some minor tweaks to improve power and efficiency. The Next Gen City will be built on the same platform as the upcoming next generation Jazz and both ot these vehicles will be locally assembled. The car could take some design inspiration from the new Crider sedan. It is also expected that the car would grow marginally in size. The Next Gen City is likely to be packed with a host of new features like automatic climate control, bluetooth connectivity, etc. as Honda will be trying its best to keep up with growing demands of the C-segment sedan buyers. Combined with the fantastic interior packaging efforts seen in Honda’s recent cars, the new City could very well set a new class benchmark for cabin space. The interiors will be upgraded too with a more upmarket ambience and more equipment, one of the current car’s shortcomings. Though the car will be unveiled on the 25th of November 2013, deliveries are expected to begin only in January 2014.   17. Think twice before you give your car to Solitaire Honda (Mumbai) They have destroyed the enitre dashboard of my brand new car. This is how they returned my car after their free service. This smart move has done wonders to the sales of the global brand products in Indian markets. The company had through researches to penetrate deeply into the Indian lifestyles to know more about their expectations, habits, knowledge and media exposure regarding their rides. The setbacks were sited through this research and it was concluded that though their products were brilliant but didn’t exactly cater to the needs of the customer base they were aiming at. Hence the company became conscious of the apt pricing ranges, one of the key aspects for the Indian populations. With the launch of Honda’s new entry level sedan it was priced competitively to be at par with other brands. Another comprehension of this research was that Indian crowds are crazily focused on fuel-efficiency of the car, hence becomes the second major deciding parameter for their vehicles. It's has the widest and deepest service network. Honda is highly committed to its work employing trained service professionals. Honda follows a policy of reasonable comfort, good after sales service which in turns also fives way to good resale value, hence winning hearts all over the country. A basic difference can be seen when you call a Honda service centre and then a Maruti service centre. Try that, and see the difference for yourself.

  22. Is Amaze better than Swift?

    Everyday I’m faced with the choice of choosing between my old flame, the Maruti Swift and my new love affair, the Honda Amaze. Call me shallow, but I can’t resist picking up my latest fling, for a delightful and comfortable drive. Each and every time I drive it, I discover something new and fall in love with it all over again. I believe it’s truly amazing car, not that I’ll ever forget the great times with my old flame. Maruti Swift wasn’t about the engine or the specifications or its features for me. It was the drive that mattered, always. I found it comfortable even though it was just Maruti, the brand that isn’t exactly associated with comfort. The drive was always smooth, allowing me to cut and swerve as I pleased. The spacious hatchback was compact enough for me to swiftly meander my way through traffic, stop and go smoothly between heavy traffic and also speed away in a flash as soon as there was the opportunity. The pickup is indeed great and with the mileage of 17kmpl, it proved to be a good car and a good drive. My only problem was when the engine got a little too irritating and loud. It wasn’t flattering to the smart and good looking car I was driving in, looking pretty smooth myself as I sped by many an onlooker. I’d suggest a few improvements for the future models, a better music system, an improved engine and maybe a bit more comfort. I make these suggestions only because it was when I drove the Honda Amaze that I realized what I was missing. At such a great price for a sedan by Honda, I thought it must be cramped for space or have some noticeable fault. However, this new creation by Honda has made it possible for a sedan to retain the compactness of a hatchback, allowing similar maneuverability as the Swift on busy roads. But this compactness doesn’t let it compromise on the space in the car. This sedan built over a small car platform has some pleasant surprises to offer. Keeping up with the Honda reputation, the seating, leg space for both front as well as back passengers and the overall comfort is remarkable. As highlighted by the advertising of the Honda Amaze, the interiors are surprisingly spacious and is equipped with all the necessary comfort features like power steering, a powerful AC, power windows, central locking and of course a good music system! Also equipped with the i-DTEC engine, the engine is by far better than my old Swift’s. Giving a mileage of 25kmpl, it made me realize that the 17kmpl I was living with was almost a shame. This isn’t the best part for me though. The best things about this car for me are the seriously comfortable seating and driving, making me one with the road and giving me a true Honda experience along with the sexy looks of a sedan, which I believe make me look even smoother…I didn’t even know that was possible!
  23. Honda Amaze humiliates its rivals

    Hyundai i20 v/s Honda Amaze: Honda Amaze comes with all the essential comfort features like power windows, power steering, music system, central locking, and a powerful AC. The dashboard again has a striking resemblance to its sibling in Brio with the same central console containing all the essential controls. The look of the steel arches from the side, gives Amaze a sporty look. The back is proportionate to the front part of the car differentiating it from the other compact sedans. The chrome panels on the back, gives the car the occasional premium touch. The fluidic design gives the eye-catching effect to the i20. The multi reflector front fog lamps, built in the lower section of the bumper and the 8 spoke alloy wheels give the car a very sporty look. The flush mounted headlamps near the front grille give a very clear vision for a better driving comfort. Like all hatchbacks, Hyundai gives the extra bit of boot space with the i20 too. Looking inside the bonnet of Amaze, the power does not betray Honda’s name with the car reaching 100 km/hr in a mere 13 seconds. Honda Amaze boasts of 25.8 kmpl for the diesel variant, again the best in class, hence balancing the two ends of the balance very well. The i-Vtec engine is pitched as the most powerful and fuel efficient engine in the segment, leaving its competitors miles behind. Hyundai i20’s engine, on paper is one of the finest hatchback engines on paper, with great power and a decent mileage. But when compared to the compact sedan, Honda Amaze, which is built on the platform of a hatchback itself, the frugal engine of i20, seems not so economical. Here also, the i-VTEC engine of Amaze, leaves the i20, far behind. Renault Duster v/s Honda Amaze: The exteriors of the both the cars are good, Duster gives you the feel of a sporty off-roader. Honda as always goes with the premium classy look. The exteriors would always command for a look from the people if you sit in any of the cars, as they are both extremely stylish and good looking cars. When we take a look at the interiors, we are actually disappointed watching the Duster losing the battle to Amaze. The black touch to the interiors gives a sporty look to the car, but the plastic is not very impressive. While on the other side, Amaze is all through a premium looking car, also inside out. Honda stands firm on the premium brand image it owns and maintains and gains a brownie point against Duster here. The torque produced by the 85bhp Duster is good and its actually enough at least for city driving. The problem with automobile companies all over the world has been, ‘with great power, comes lower fuel economy’. But surprisingly, both the cars we are talking about seem to have balanced the two ends very well. Which car would you choose and why?

    In this post, we will compare Honda Amaze with Volkswagen Vento. Mileage: The engine of Vento is the same as of the Polo. The gear shifts are claimed by the company to be smoother than ever before and going by the standards, the mileage which the diesel Vento offers is decent enough at 16 kmpl in the city and 20 kmpl on the highway. The mileage as I said is good, but in a country that puts fuel efficiency as one of the major deciding criteria, good is sometimes just not good enough. Here the German loses out to the latest weapon in the Honda arsenal; the i-DTEC engine providing almost, a jaw-dropping 25 kilometers per liter. Power: The highly powerful engine of Volkswagen Vento lays out an impressive power of 105 bhp at 5250 rpmand a thumping torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm for the petrol engine and 250 Nm at 1500-2500 rpm for the diesel engine. The power of Amaze, I mean, whom we are kidding, we are talking about Honda, what was the last time, someone complained about an engine from Honda. The i-DTEC is a modern marvel and the power of Amaze is Amazing. The diesel variant of Amaze brings out a power of an impressive 98.6bhp at 3600rpm. The car reaches 100 km/hr in a mere 13 seconds. The way we like it (Pros and Cons): Honda Amaze: Pros: Beautifully designed, economical, best in class mileage, elegant interiors. Cons: Base petrol variants lack the basic safety features such as ABS, EBD and airbags. Volkswagen Vento: Pros: Spacious, Sporty and Stylish look. Cons: A few added features should be there to set it apart from others in the segment. The Verdict: When Honda made up its mind to roll the first set of wheels of Amaze, it had few issues related to it. Firstly, the cap on the diesel engine for subsidies put by the Government of India, kept at a maximum of 1.5 liter of engine volume, while Honda has been dealing with the 1.6 liter engines. Secondly, its latest outing on a sub- 4 meter platform was Brio, a Hatchback and wasn’t a very overwhelming car. Thirdly, Honda hadn’t made a diesel engine before. But, when it launched Amaze finally, it raised a lot of customers waiting for the launch so as to grab one of these economic luxury vehicles. As a vehicle Honda Amaze is certainly ahead of its contemporaries. It definitely has something new to offer in terms of power, performance, looks and the price too. If I have to take a decision and the price of a car is the remotest of the parameters of my decision making structure, Honda Amaze would be the one, I would choose.
  25. Renault Duster or Honda Amaze?

    I was recently wondering about which car will a man with 8-9lacs to spare buy? I shortlisted two options. First is the Renault Duster and the other was Honda Amaze, particularly, because these two cars have set the market on fire since their announcement. Renault Duster made available in both petrol and diesel options. The petrol driven Renault houses a 1598cc I4 DOHC engine that produces 100.3bhp at 5850 rpm and a maximum torque of 145Nm at 3750 rpm. The diesel powered Renault Duster is powered by 1461cc Turbocharged Diesel I4 SOHC engine that is able to deliver two different power figures: 108.3bhp and 83.5bhp power and a torque of 248Nm and 200Nm respectively to the wheels. Duster has two transmission options- five-speed manual and another six-speed manual (108bhp). In singularity, the Duster looks a very good product, and it is, but when we look out in the market, with a view to buy a car, we just don’t see just one car. We browse and then compare our options. Well, while we are at it, why should you be worried about it, we can do that for you. Now, we compare Duster with Amaze The Looks: The exteriors of the both the cars are good, Duster at one side gives you the feel of a sporty off-roader, Amaze shows your love for the finer details in life.
