1. Guys, I am planning to buy a new car, changing the Koleos. Budget - 50 - 55 Lac. 55 is max, putting the extra five over 50 is also stretching it a bit too much. Looking for a sedan this time round. Self driven. About 1500kms a month. Once a month used on the highways. Looking for - Driving dynamics, Engine, Handling. Not shortlisted any as of now, but I am pretty interested in the New C class(both petrol and Diesel). What else can you'll suggest ?
2. Hi I need some advice. i want to buy used Merc C class. My budget is about 12 lakhs. Which variant of C class is best for a small family. My driving will be about 40 miles a day. Is there a reliable agency which can inspect and examine the veichle and give a detailed report before I buy? Do I go for a older car with low miles or a newer car with high miles? Thanks
3. Mercedes has started to roll out the GL SUV from its plant at Chakan, Pune. India is the first plant to start local production of the GL outside the Mercedes SUV plant in Tuscaloosa in the USA. Mercedes first started operations in India in 1995 with the E Class. This was followed by the S Class, C Class and then the M Class. The GL is the fifth model from the Mercedes line up to be assembled locally. The GL350 CDI is powered by a V6 diesel motor producing 258 bhp @3600 rpm and torque of 619 Nm between 1600 – 2400rpm. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds and goes to a top speed of 220 kph. The GL comes with a 7 Gtronic Plus automatic gearbox. It is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model.I attended this roll out event at the Mercedes Plant in Pune. Some pics of the Roll out Next post: Offroading Experience...
4. Mercedes seems to be already working on a facelift for its B Class. The updated model has a new front fascia with a revised grille and restyled headlights. There is also a new exhaust system that is neatly integrated into the rear bumper. The B Class is sold in India in both petrol and diesel variants. I am not a fan of the current B Class especially when the A Class is such a looker. Lets see when the facelift comes to India. Here are pics Source and more pics here : Worldcarfans
5. As everyone knows I had posted a thread on buying a luxury sedan. I have not bought any of the cars shortlisted. I have bought an Imported from UK Mercedes Benz C180 Avantgarde Sport Edition. So before posting pics I am going to tell you about my experience... Exterior - the C-Class is a car that would out rightly turn heads. That said, the luxury sedan still has got the timeless, elegant look. And I will go as far as saying this is one of the best looking C-Class yet. Interior - The interior has always been an aspect in which Mercedes shines in. For starters, the door opens and closes with aplomb, a hint of the car's solid build quality. the C180's interior is littered with quality materials, in line with what one would expect from the German marque. Ride - Its ride is very comfortable. And as I used to sit on the rear but sometimes I also drive it, Who won't want to drive such a Car. Handling - Its handling is what impressed me the most. It takes the curves and turns with ease. Performance - Oh! I think I don't have to tell about that. Its performance is very great. It takes 8secto reach the 100 mark. It has a 156bhp 1.6L engine. It's very rev happy. The 'Sports' button enhances the intuitiveness of the auto gear shifts - more perceivable in its keenness to downshift when it senses urgency at the throttle. The less sporting driving dynamics may not score points when pit against rivals such as the 3 Series. But holding true to the marque's values, the comfort and relaxing experience it provides is second to none. Pics coming soon!!
6. Mercedes had showcased the GLA concept at the Shanghai Motor Show this year. Now the GLA has been spotted testing in Dubai. The GLA is especially for emerging markets and India will surely be an important one for the car. It is definitely a part of the onslaught of models that Mercedes has planned. From the pictures it looks more on the likes of the BMW X1 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country. It doesnt look an outright SUV. Mercedes is expected to unveil the GLA at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Source: Indianautosblog
7. Hi Friends I hope everything is well with all of you. My father is looking to buy an new car. A family acquaintance has an E class. Model: 2010. it is an E250 Diesel (white color). (it is the new look one, one with squared lights). I am not sure about the trim. The car has done 60,000 Kms. He wanted to sell it off for 25-26 lacs, but being a family friend he can give it to us for 23-24 lacs. So what do u suggest, pass or not to pass? The car will be self driven, me or dad. No accidental damage was visible as dad said (Good condition, not Mint of course) , I havnt checked out the car myself. So should we proceed or not with more details, I am basically worried about GERMAN Maintenance. Thanks.
8. Mercedes launched the new E63 ////AMG in India at Rs. 1.29 crore Ex Delhi. This has come shortly after the facelift E Class launch. The car was launched at the Buddh International Circuit. As part of the event we were given the chance to drive the E63 on the track. Quite exciting this since I have driven lots of sports cars and exotics but never on a track so was worth looking forward to. I arrived at Buddh around noon and immediately registered myself for the event. Being in the pit lane of an F1 circuit is an awesome experience. Seeing the huge Grandstand in front of you seems just out of this world. Looked around and saw the meat that was waiting for us. There were 4 E63s at our disposal along with 2 SLS AMGs which were the pace cars .The new E63 comes with a 5.5 litre Bi Turbo V8 motor putting out 557 horses @5500rpm. Torque is a crazy 720 Nm @ 5200rpm. 0 to 100 kph is finished off in 4.2 seconds while top speed is restricted 250 kph. It comes with a AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic gearbox. Well finally it was my turn to take to the wheel. And surprise surprise the heavens decided to add a fun quotient and it started raining. So my first ever track day was going to be a wet one. Strapped myself into the car and wore my helmet. Our cars were equipped with walkie talkies to follow instructions from our German instructors who who be leading in the SLS. We started off slowly trying to get to know the track first time around. It was a fantastic experience to get to know the technique to take corners all around. However it was flat out acceleration and I touched 220 kph on the back straight. The key is to brake hard when approaching a corner. You literally slam the brakes and then turn in. I chose to drive in the Sport Plus with Automatic mode. The growl coming from the V8 is insane and you can imagine how it sounded with so many of these musical instruments playing at the same time. I got done with my laps and was lead back into the pit lane. I must admit that I didnt want to stop but there were other waiting for their turn as well. Our German instructor came upto me after the drive and appreciated my driving skills saying that I had great control on the corners and took all the correct lines. It was nice to hear these words considering it was my track debut. Well thats how my day turned out to be. Immensely exciting and fun and I cant wait to do something like this again. Left Buddh with a smile headed to the airport and back home. The first experience is always one to remember and this is no different. I would definitely recommend everyone to go for the open track days that are organized at BIC. Enjoy the pictures
9. Mercedes reveals S63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed its new 577bhp S63 AMG ahead of a planned public debut for the rapid luxury saloon at the Frankfurt motor show in September. Distinguished from other recently introduced new S-class models by a number of traditional AMG styling tweaks, including a deep new front bumper, heavily chromed blade grille, 'twin-turbo V8' badges along its flanks and beefed up sills among other changes, the new S63 AMG is planned to go on sale globally in rear-wheel drive guise only next year. 10. Mercedes has launched the B Class B180 CDI diesel at a price of Rs. 22.60 lakhs Ex Showroom Mumbai. There is only a single vaiant 'Style' . The B180 CDI is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel motor putting out 107 bhp @3200 - 4400 rpm with a torque rating of 250 Nm @1400 - 2800 rpm. Transmission is a 7 speed dual clutch auto. Mercedes also launched the Luxury Touring Trails contest where the winner will get to drive a B Class for one year and drive to his favourite holiday destination with Bollywood actors Abhay Deol and Aditi Rao Hydari ACI review here Some pictures from the launch
11. Another one bites the dust. Mercedes has decided to stop selling the R Class MPV in India and it will no longer be available in dealerships. The R Class was launched in India in 2010 in a petrol variant only. It didnt sell well at all because the GL seven seater made more sense. People in India are more inclined to SUVs and the GL was a diesel too. The R Class got a diesel just last year but it was too late. The R Class is not only a dud in India but even globally there is less demand for it. Production for the R Class will be stopped worldwide by 2015 and there are no plans for a replacement. 12. Hello All I am new to this forum and in a bit of a soup at the moment. I am from Delhi and looking to buy a new car for about 25 Lacs. I can stretch to 26 lacs max. Note: These are on road costs. I have always loved driving and currently drive a Ford Fiesta (Classic now). I will be buying in the month of July and have shortlisted a few cars. Also, I am 25 years old, single and will be using the car for my self, driving to office everyday in gurgaon and ocasional long trips to Chandigarh with Mom dad, but very less often. In all, I know i want a Diesel, irrespective of my daily running. 1. VW Passat High-line: I visited a local showroom that had this car on display. They had both the Comfort-line and High-line on display, and some how the high-line with its black interiors felt more premium by leaps and bounds than the beige comfort line. I never thought i'll feel so for black interiors. Anyway, the car has the best interior in the segment. It also had a lot of party tricks like auto park assist and ventilated seats with massaging (Yes!). It has a 170 HP engine that is good and frugal. Only problem is that its a big car and i'll be driving it on daily basis. Does that look good ?. Another thing i forgot to mention is the top class driver visibility. The car gives such a good view upfront, something that you hardly get in a luxury car. I hated the Jetta (No offence!) after sitting in the passat. Actually I had gone for the Jetta to VW Showroom . We worked out the on road cost for highline and came to about 27.xx Lacs after 2.5 lac discount (2012 model). 2. Skoda Superb: Again, I will be driving so idea of a limousine like superb dosent sound very attractive. Also Passat has better engine and more classy interior. So SUPERB but No SUPERB. 3. Mercedes A class (UPCOMING): This the car that convinced me to spend 25 lacs but I was put off by the recent scoops of a underpowered 110BHP Diesel. Also India spec car does not have AMG pack as reported by some websites. The BUMPERs are not AMG on the display cars I have seen. Anyway, I believe in brand value and am open to the A class depending on pricing and test drive experience. I am open to it as dont need too much space. BTW I am 6 feet tall, still I struggle for good outside visibility. So I use the seat Height adjustments very generously. 4. Volvo S60: Havent seen the car yet, but had a talk with a sales representative, He is giving the S60 D4 kinetic for 25 lacs ex showroom, after discount. was put off by the idea of thin sales network and really old inventory. But still its a strong contender that I am willing to consider. I am not looking for SUVs as they are too big for me. I am yet to see the BMW 3 and AUDI a4 but I'm sure they will be out of my budget (anyone!) as I dont want the base models, still can anyone give me more detail on this. Anyway, I am open to a discussion if anyone finds any other car more suitable. Please help me here. Thanks
13. After huge hype including showcasing the car at showrooms and at the Buddh International Circuit, Mercedes has finally launched the cheapest Mercedes in their range in India. The B Class. It is the first Merc to be based on a new front wheel drive platform (MFA). The B will be sold as the B180 in petrol only and will be available in two variants: B180 : Rs 21.49 lakhs B180 Sport: Rs 24.87 lakhs (All prices Ex Showroom Delhi) The Sport in addition gets 17 inch alloys, chrome slats on the grille, twin pipe exhausts, sporty pedals, sporty leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel and bi-Xenon lamps. The B Class' direct competitors will be the BMW X1 and the Q3. The advantage the latter two have is that they come with diesel motors while the B come with only a petrol. 21. Are you unhappy with yor vehicle? Are you tiered of poor after sale service of your vehicle? Isn't your vehicle's service people, dealer or manufacturer aren't listening your complents? Do you have enough time, faith & courage to go to the Consumer Court? Look no further, in this thread you will get some coolest ideas on planet to treat with them! Drive your car with help of Donky-Power! {use of Bull-Power, Dog-Power or Human-Power are also permitted; but don't use horse-power! (from the engine of your car)} In India, donkeys are still used as a form of animal labor. They are used for many kinds of labor, carrying items like sand & bricks, threshing, ploughing land, raising water, and much more. So when one sees donkeys on road pulling or carrying items, its business as usual. But, when the city of Vadodara, Gujarat, saw six donkeys pulling a Mercedes Benz E Class, everybody took notice. Frustrated with poor after sales, Kumud Patel decided to take matter in his own hands when his year and a half old Mercedes Benz E350 worth Rs 60 lakhs, was not fixed by authorized dealer over repeated attempts. Mr Patel made 6 donkeys drag his E Class around the city, in an attempt to vent his frustration. Kumud, a local businessman, bought the E350 back in July 2011 along with Mercedes Benz Road Side Assistance Program. According to Kumud, problems with his new E Class started in Sep 2011. Ever since he has been trying to fix his car, but every time he gets his car fixed, a new fault appears. his car is still not fixed and has problems in two of the wheels. Tired of calling and visiting local Mercedes Benz showroom many times, Mukud decided to take his car out for a drive, with the help of six donkeys. No one is still not sure why Kumud has scripted 'Just Think' over his Mercedes Benz E350, if you have an answer, please leave your answers below. (UPDATE - when media cotacted Mercedes Benz India on the issue here, the first thing they said is that the name of the owner is not Kumud Patel, but Rakesh Patel. Below is a reply from their spokesperson. "Mr. Rakesh Patel from Baroda is owner of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class 350 CDI and purchased the vehicle on 30-July, 2012 from Benchmark Cars, Ahmedabad." "Two tyres of his car has undergone damage due to external impact . Damages to the tyres due to external impact are not covered under the tyre manufacturer's obligation as well as Car manufacturer's warranty terms and conditions. " "Inspite of these, when Benchmark Cars learnt of the tyres issue, they offered to replace all the four tyres as a good will gesture to a valued customer." "Mr. Rakesh Patel has however, refused the offer and insists on replacement of the entire car. The act by Mr. Patel to try and grab attention is being reviewed from this perspective.") Similar stratergy was earlier used by a chinese customer of Range Rover in China. Hammer down your vehicle in middle of city (This one is very harmfull technique & to be used in extreme condition & in presence of large media crowd! Let me introduce you to one of the most stylish guys to live on the face of this earth today, Mr Han. A Chinese millionaire businessman, Mr Han bought a £465,000 LamborghiniGallardo (pronounced – Ga-aa-ar-do) supercar late last year. Soon, he started facing problems with the car. The brand new Lamborghini would just stall due to unknown reasons, quite an embarrassment after paying almost half a million pounds. Mr Han, got his car serviced at an authorized Lamborghini outlet in China where according to Mr Han due to negligence, the chassis and bumper of the supercar were damaged. But the stalling problem was still there, so Mr Han wrote to Lamborghini CEO, Mr Winkelmann and described the problem he was facing due to an incompetent car. Mr Han did not receive any appropriate response from Mr Winkelmann, so he contacted Lamborghini Asia-Pacific manager, who too did not show much interest in Mr Han's problems. So, on the 15th March, Mr Han finally gave up requesting and decided to teach the arrogant Italian maker a lesson. He hired some workers and asked them to destroy his Lamborghini Gallardo in front of public and media. 23. First ever undisguised picture of the new facelifted Mercedes E-Class saloon. Mind you, this is not just a facelift, lots of new styling touches can be seen too! This one looks like the hotter AMG version >> E-Class non-AMG rendering by Autocar India >> E-Class rendering by TopSpeed>> Mercedes’ current E-class (W212) is now four years old. Launched in 2009, both internationally and in India, it is soon set to receive a mid-life update. Mercedes normally gives its models a fairly substantial facelift halfway through their life cycle, and all-new engines are also introduced by the German company at the same time. One of the major styling updates will be the return to two headlights instead of the current four. There will also be a new front bumper, grille and bonnet, which will mean the new E will look quite different from the current car. Other substantial changes include rear door skins, wings and tail-lamps. The new E-class retains the basic interior architecture of the current car, while efforts have been made to improve quality. Even higher-grade materials, more supportive seats, new instrument graphics and switchgear, and an improved multimedia system have all been adopted. During the launch of the Force Traveller-26 in Chennai, Mr. Naresh Kumar Rattan, Chief Operation Officer (COO) and President of Force Motors informed that the company will add a new assembly line to its manufacturing facility at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh to accommodate the new high-end MPV. He said, “We want to have a multi-purpose high end van. It is right now under development. We have to put an assembly line in the factory in Pithampur. It will take the existing plant into a new level.” Mr. Rattan also informed that the Force One SUV will have 2 to 3 new variants possibly with features like four wheel drive and ABS. The company had sold 2,000 Force Ones so far against a target of 4,000 units in the first year. The high end MPV planned is most likely to be the old Mercedes Viano which will be manufactured under license from Daimler with few modifications. The Daimler sourced 2.2L FMTECH engine which powers the Force One is expected to be shared by the MPV too. The Force MPV will be positioned to rival the segment king Innova and the Tata Aria. Force Motors, in order to make any impact, need to improve its sales and service network. [source: Rediff.com; Images from NetCarShow.com]
