  1. There was news earlier that Hyundai was planning a compact SUV but now it looks its already in the next phase. Here are some shots of a test mule that was caught testing in South Korea. This definitely looks like the compact SUV that Hyundai was talking about. The trest mule does wear the Hyundai badge. This one will surely be coming to India as it is a very important market for Hyundai. This will directly take the fight to the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and Nissan's Terrano. The compact SUV market will see lots of action in the next year or so. Here are the pictures Pics Source: blog.naver.com

  4. Looks like testing for the next generation Jaguar XJ has already begun. Here are pictures of it on public roads. It’s likely that this prototype is a hybrid of the new Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) floor and crash structure, combined with the upper structure of the current Jaguar XJ. In its present form, the XJ was launched in late 2009 and is expected to be replaced by 2016. There’s no news on whether similar mould-breaking looks will be carried across to the new car. By the time it is replaced, the XJ will be the only aluminium JLR model still based on the first-generation riveted-and-bonded aluminium architecture. The new XJ will be based on the PLA, which also underpins the latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The PLA is also scheduled to be used as a basis for the Land Rover Discovery replacement. JLR revealed that a third of its entire engineering staff were working on the aluminium PLA platform and the Mk4 Range Rover. The PLA is more flexible in the kind of vehicle it can underpin, plus major changes have been made to the production-line technology, including the advanced robotic rivet guns. Source: Autocar UK

  7. Mercedes had showcased the GLA concept at the Shanghai Motor Show this year. Now the GLA has been spotted testing in Dubai. The GLA is especially for emerging markets and India will surely be an important one for the car. It is definitely a part of the onslaught of models that Mercedes has planned. From the pictures it looks more on the likes of the BMW X1 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country. It doesnt look an outright SUV. Mercedes is expected to unveil the GLA at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Source: Indianautosblog
  8. Here are a few spy shots of another Tata Nano testing. The source says that it is a petrol so it could be possible that this has a bigger and more powerful engine. The boot and the bumpers have been camouflaged so l guess this one comes with an openable boot. What do think? Source
  9. Here are first spy shots of the Nissan Terrano which is the rebadged Duster. This is the first time it has been spotted testing on Indian roads. According to the source, it was spotted near Chennai airport and he same road leads to the Renault Nissan factory. Nissan has a big task on its hands considering the EcoSport was launched at a very aggressive price and it was said that the Terrano will be more pricey than the Duster Here are the pictures: Source: Indianautosblog
  10. Here is a pic of what could be the Volkswagen CrossPolo. A test mule was caught testing early today at Chakan, off Pune. Volkswagen has put its plans to produce the Up in India on hold. And thus, for the next two years, the carmaker plans to appeal to the market here and shore up demand by introducing variants of its existing Polo and Vento. And first up in VW’s scheme is the CrossPolo – the hatchback off-roader. The CrossPolo, with its rugged off-road kit, trumps any regular hatch in terms of looks. Knowing the Indian customer’s fondness for off-roader appearances, this design should spell success for the manufacturer. The all-terrain looks appear tough enough to tackle Himalayan mountain roads and the ride height has been increased by around 15mm as well. A thick, matte plastic band extends across the chin, the flanks and around the rear. The wheel arches get the same treatment and there’s a scuff plate with a dull silver finish. The CrossPolo also gets silver anodised roof rails where up to 75kg of luggage can be mounted and secured. A silver diffuser at the rear and big 17-inch wheels complete the off-roader look. There could even be a tailgate-mounted spare wheel on the Indian CrossPolo, lending it even more SUV flair. And since the spare wheel isn’t counted as part of the car’s length, the car will still enjoy the sub-four-metre excise duty benefits. The empty spare wheel well under the boot floor could be used to house a toroidal CNG cylinder. Yes, a CNG option is also likely. The CrossPolo is likely to be the first recipient of VW’s made-for-India 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. If VW prices the CrossPolo cleverly and packs it with enough kit, it could crack open an interesting niche. Spy pic source: Indiancarsbikes.in
  11. These are exclusive pictures of a cut price Audi Q3 which was recently caught testing in the urban traffic of Mumbai. If you look at the pics the alloys look really basic and the quattro badge is missing from the grille making it evident that the cut price Q3 will be a front wheel drive Quoted text source: Indiancarsbikes.in Pics source: ACI forum exclusive
  12. The Rexton has been doing decently well for Mahindra and I do see quite a few of them on the road now. But it looks like Ssangyong is gearing up for another launch. The Korando SUV was spotted testing in Pune without any camo. It doesnt look like a big SUV and could probably be a 5 seater. Here are the pics Source: CarblogIndia
  13. Here are pictures of the Ashok Leyland Stile MPV. This was caught testing in camouflaged in Chennai and is basically a rebadged Nissan Evalia. The Stile was showcased by Ashok Leyland at the Auto Expo last year but so far the launch has been delayed while the Evalia has already hit the roads. It will be a cheaper alternate to Evalia and will definitely find preference in the commercial taxi operations. A few features will be traded off and a CNG version along with a parcel van version are also on the cards. There are chances that Stile might also ditch the Evalia’s 1.5L K9K engine and use the Dost LCV‘s 1.5L 3 cylinder turbocharged diesel mill. In its current form on Dost, it produces 55hp and 150Nm of torque but it is possible that, if this engine is used, it will come in a higher and more refined tune. This will surely be priced much lower than the Evalia and could be a hit in the rural areas as well. Pics and source: Motorbash
  14. This Nissan Pixo has been spotted testing in India. The Pixo is essentially the Maruti A-Star that we have on Indian roads. The car seen here had Haryana TC plates and the even the badges were covered so its quite a mystery as to what this car is doing here. However there are differences in the exterior. the Pixo gets a rear wiper, while the A-Star even in it’s top of the line ZXi spec makes do without. The base variants of the Pixo also get a fixed ‘butterfly’ type rear windows. The front of the Pixo features an almost Maruti Ritz like headlamp unit. The grill is completely different and the front and rear bumpers of the Nissan get an additional plastic molding. The A-Star has been around for quite sometime in its current avatar. So should Maruti launch a facelift model which looks like this Pixo. It could help garner up more sales for the car. What do you think? Source: IndianAutosblog
  15. Hot on the heels of the Polo Tsi GT launch, VW is now testing the GT TDI. And here are the spy shots. Caught by an enthusiast, the test mule of the Polo is seen wearing the GT and TDI badges. At the front, the grille was said to be similar to what we have seen on the Polo GT TSI. Even the alloys are similar to the GT TSI. Sagar also confirms that the car had black interiors. The car was being run alongside a Vento and a Rapid. That could hint that the Polo GT TDI could use the same 1.6-litre TDI engine that powers the Vento and the Rapid. Interestingly though, we are told by people in the know that Volkswagen is also busy testing a new 1.5-litre TDI engine that could replace the 1.6-litre powerplant across the lineup. The 1.5-litre mill is said to be more fuel efficient than its slightly larger counterpart and because it qualifies for the tax-cut, it could also be a more viable choice for the Polo GT TDI, the Vento, the Rapid and also the upcoming Up! and Citigo city cars. 16. Hyundai has started testing the Mistra sedan in Korea. The global premiere of the car was done at the Shanghai Motor Show 2013. It is said to slot between the Sonata and the Elantra. When it comes to outright size, it is bigger than the Elantra but smaller than the Sonata. Though the gap in segments between the Elantra and Sonata is not big, would it make sense for Hyundai to bring this to India? I think it would be pretty difficult to slot the car between the other too and pricing it well would be tough as well. What do you think? Here are the pictures: Source: Indianautosblog
  17. Looks like there are a lot of Chinese cars testing now on Indian roads. Here are pictures of a Great Wall Haval H3 SUV testing around Pune. Great Wall Motors is China's 8th largest car maker. Engine wise, Great Wall licenses one of the engines from Mitsubishi: a 2.4-liter inline four cylinder engine. For China alone, Great Wall sells the H3 with a 2.5 and 2.8 petrol engines as well. Power transmission is performed by a 5-speed manual unit, though a 6-speed automatic was developed for the Hover H7. Great Wall is China’s biggest domestic SUV brand. It sold 280,000 Haval branded SUV models in 2012, posting almost a 90% increase compared to 2011. As sales soared, Great Wall felt the brand pull of Haval was strong enough for it to be autonomous. Thus Haval became a sub-brand and the refreshed lineup sporting the new brand plate was brought to the Shanghai Auto Show last month. Source: IndianAutosBlog
  18. Here are pics of the Audi A3 sedan which has been caught testing in China. The car was officially unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2013. The new A3, is equipped with a maximum output power of 140 hp, a peak torque 250N.m 1.4TFSI engine, and a 170 horsepower, 250N.m 1.8TFSI engine and one unpublished data 2.0TFSI engine for the Chinese market. This could be the perfect entry level sedan for Audi in India and will probably be here next year. India is sure to get a diesel motor for sure the tried and tested 2.0 TDI. Source: auto.ifeng.com
  19. Looks like Volkswagen is taking the emerging markets seriously by coming up with suitable products. The Up! which you see here has been caught on test by Car & Driver Brazil. It seems that VW is developing the extended wheelbase Up! at the Taubate facility situated in Brazil. When Car & Driver compared the images of the test mule to that of the international variant, it was found that the Brazilian Up! boasts of a much higher ground clearance than its European cousin. Furthermore, VW has also changed the design of the windscreen to give the cabin an airy feeling. The wheelbase of the car was also measured using the images and it was found that the Brazilian Up! has an additional 2cm when compared to the European version. However, it is believed that the final production model may have an added wheelbase of 3cm to better accommodate the rear passengers. Could this be the perfect Up! for India? 20. Here are pictures of the 7th gen Volkswagen Golf being tested on our roads. They were snapped by an enthusiast at one of the food malls of the Mumbai Pune Expressway. On questioning the official said that thet were testing engines which are supposed to power the next gen Octavia which will be launched later this year. The Golf seem here was an RHD and had a 1.4 TSI petrol engine. As much as we would like it to come here, the Golf is NOT being launched in India sadly. Pics source : Team BHP
  21. Here are pictures of the new Mercedes GL (codename X166) being tested in India sent by a reader of Autocar India As seen from the pictures, the GL spotted is the GL 350 BlueTEC diesel version. The distinct front bumper and additional trim-bits on the exterior point it to be as an AMG sport version of the GL. The AMG Sport package consists of 21-inch alloy wheels, perforated 19 inch disc brakes, custom front and rare AMG bumpers, flared wheel-arch extensions and illuminated running boards. The GL 350 BlueTEC is powered by a 2987cc turbo-common rail diesel motor which is good for 255bhp and 63.2kgm of torque mated to a 7-speed G-Tronic automatic gearbox. Initially, all GL will be imported as completely built units. Like the smaller M-Class, Mercedes plans to assemble the GL in India from SKD kits imported from the USA by end of this year.
