dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 The compact SUV segment in India has flourished over the last couple of years. Most of the manufactures are preparing compact SUVs for the Indian and also emerging market. Now the Indian subsidiary of Toyota is planning to launch a compact SUV in India. Our sources from Toyota has informed us that the procedures for testing in India are almost complete and the road testing will begin soon. The compact SUV will be priced very competitively and below the Fortuner. The compact SUV very well is the Daihatsu Rush which is sold in other Asian countries. Daihatsu is a subsidiary brand of Toyota and like the Renault Duster which is made by Dacia. Toyota might follow the same strategy and the rush compact SUV might hit the Indian Shores. The Rush is offered in 5 or 7 seat configuration in some market. There will be diesel and petrol engines. To get excise duty benefits Toyota might opt for the 1.4 L diesel engine from the Corolla. We can expect Toyota to showcase the compact SUV at the 2014 Auto Expo in Noida. (Source: Fly-wheel.com)
BonFre 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Looks ok but "pricing competitively" is not Toyotas cup of tea. Expect this to overshoot the segment by a mile.
Prashantroxx 5 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 pricing will onlyjudge the cars sales. This one doesn't look good
lxtreme 80 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Looks are not very eye catching . The pricing should be done well below others to compete with cars like Duster, Ecosport.

dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Looks more or less like Premier Rio/Daihaitsu Terios. Since this Rush is actually a Daihaitsu product, so similar styling with family lines can be seen in it. Its styling isn't actually upto Toyota's standards, even Etios lines are better. Needs comprehensive facelift before its introduction in India, specially the sort of legacy TKM India is having here. (pic source: google) Interiors are still acceptable though, but it really needs some modern elements considering time by which it'll be launched here. Being a RWD, expect it to be priced bit on the higher side, due to manufacturing complexities.
lxtreme 80 Report post Posted October 5, 2013 From the side it look good. but from from its not. toyota have to do some changes to this car before it comes to India. Interiors don't look so good though its acceptable.

tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted October 5, 2013 From sideview it looks like baby Fortuner. Etios and Etios Liva when launched they received lots of criticism for it's interior and exterior looks but still people are buying and are happy with the products. Since Toyota is delivering quality at right price people have faith in the brand. Toyota now has two options either they go with this Rush (Baby Fortuner) or they introduce Avanza (Baby Innova). I feel Avanza seems more suitable due to it's styling which is better than RUsh.
lxtreme 80 Report post Posted October 6, 2013 Avanza looks better than rush. I think Toyota should introduce Avanza rather than Rush.
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 6, 2013 If better than Rush but still Avanza even looks dated. C'mon why Toyota is going out of designs now ! It's the time to come up with Innovative designs. Where's New Yaris, Vios ? Heard next-gen Etios twins are also under development, hope they get right dose of styling elements. Coming down to the topic folks, Rush with its current styling & Rear-wheel drive layout looks outdated even now, so its Indian launch needs Next-gen variant here, although not at the cost of cost. neerajd 7 Report post Posted October 7, 2013 +1 to Dr Nishu. Per me, the front looks a lot like the Premier Rio... a little blown up. Toyota sure needs to restyle this before they get it in here. This is sure not a competitor to Ecosport or Duster or the Terrano... it will surely chase the Scorpio and the XUV and fall into the 12+lacs bucket. There is no way Toyota can get this car here below that. As far as the Avanza goes, Toyota must not be worried by the smaller MUVs (7 seaters) taking quick bites into the sedan class by offering 2 more seats.. Of course they would sell a lot of those.. but that would only cannibalize the Innova sales. I believe not a valuable proposition for Toyota.
AMG1 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 I saw the Avanza in June in Pune. Was being used as benchmarking vehicle by a known auto-maker. Really loved the looks of the car and yes it is the baby Innova! Since now the Innova is priced way above 10 lakh, there's a lot of space below that for Toyota to launch the Avanza and let it compete with the Ertiga and the likes. UVian 3 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 So the Toyota Rush is again in news for India launch, just like Avanza. If i am not wrong currently it is available only in Petrol version. It is very unlikely that Toyota will try something in India without diesel on offer. So 2014 launch looks optimistic at the moment. Here we have manufacturer like Tata Motors and M&M who are trying hard to develop new vehicles, while on the other hand we have players like Toyota who have an array of vehicles which are more or less suited for Indian markets, yet indecisive. They could have launched Avanza / Rush (Terios) in India good 4 -5 years back if they wanted. Again going by the historical approach of Toyota, I have a feeling neither Rush / Avanza is coming to India in 2014.
Sstar 77 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 The RUSH will never make customer Rush for it to TOYOTA showrooms if the front looks are going to be like what we have above in the image. It looks like a UP Jugad given a bulky look.
GuruGautham 2 Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Toyota have been thinking about launching the avanza for quite some time now and considering the popularity of the innova - which sells around 4k uits a month even though its priced above 12lacs - launching the avanza should be a better option than launching the rush into a seggment with tough competition such as the ecosport, duster, terrano and upcoming suzuki and vw suvs on the other hand, the only real competition for tha avanza would be the ertiga and to a lesser extent the xylo and tavera
lovemycar 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2013 Excellent Concept By Toyota....& Update By ACI but pricing as mentioned in post is quite high for 1.4 L engine.. Comparative segment of this size Engine is below 8 lakh (Indian Market) however it can be a game changer product in market if positioned properly.. Let us Wait & Watch What Actually Happens in 2014!! Prashantroxx 5 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 As the innova costs above 15l for the top model, it should start at 8l so it can give tough compitation

AMG1 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2017 So this is how the next-gen Toyota small SUV/Crossover's would look like. I think this will be a fitting answer to the Duster and friends in India. Bring it on Toyota! Image source

VET5 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2018 Closer look at the new Rush from all angles. Its powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 105hp and 140Nm of peak torque. As for the gearbox, a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic are available, which channel power to the rear wheels. These pics are from Toyota's Indonesia site, but I personally think it would be a great fit for the Indian market! What do you think?
