Pics: Maruti low cost MPV based on Celerio?

Recommended Posts

Happened to find these pics, actually rendering of what is a an MPV based on the Celerio. This could be for the Asian markets where Honda sells the Mobilio and Datsun also has the GO+ MPV. Maruti could launch this to take on the other two in the Indian market and position it below the Ertiga What do you think?

God no!!

But there were pics of a Wagon R based 7 seater.. so why not this.. ;)

And this would be powered by what? A 1.2 from the Ritz/Swift along with a 1.3 National Engine?

On a side note, does it not resemble this car? Especially the rear stretch section...

Looks ugly. But Indian market is all about the practicality, specially this segment. If you can get a 7 seater with engines that run on as less fuel as possible may be coupled with an optional AMT. It will take the market by storm. Poor vehicle but a sure shot hit in out market.

To add to that... if this comes, it will sure cannibalize the Swift Dzire, Ertiga from their own stable and also prove to be a tough competitor to the Amaze and the Mobilio!!

More car for the money...

tough to imagine this car competing with other segment cars like Dzire and Amaze. But going by your logic of more car for the money we cannot rule out cannibalism. However, you are sure to kill the driving pleasure that a super hatch or a notch can provide. This car is a people mover certainly not meant for any driving pleasure. Unless you are always carrying 5-6 people all the time, it really does not make much sense.
