Hyundai will launch the Kona Electric - its first all-electric model for India - on July 9. Found a walkaround giving a closer look:

In international markets, the Kona EV is available with two options – a 39kW battery pack with about 312km claimed range and a 64kW unit with a 482km range on a single charge. For India, Hyundai is expected to bring the 39kW model, which makes the equivalent of 136hp and 395Nm of peak torque, and has a claimed 0-100kph time of 9.7sec and a top speed of 155kph.

The lithium-ion battery pack can be charged to 80 percent capacity in as little as 54min using a 100kW DC fast charger, or 6hr 10min from a standard AC source.

Visited the showroom today as website not giving all options

Sales guys pretty much clueless about most of the details

They are still awaiting on road prices and tax break figures

Looked ample in size , plastic looked OK , could not get hold of a test car.

After booking they say it could take 3-4 months for delivery based on information they have today.

Best to visit showrooms this weekend by then these sales personnel could have acquired enough knowledge to promptly answer all your questions.

As of today , I seemed to know more than the sales force at the showroom.

Came back with a brochure though.

Most likely my next set of wheels.

More information :

Service interval of 30K Kms

Expect Actual range to be around 250kms +/-

19 hr charge time for 15 amp charger

Still cannot seem to find water wading depth anywhere.

Stop lamps not lighting up when Regenerative braking is occurring seems to be an invitation for rear end collision

Having to learn to shift from three pedal driving in normal vehicles , to two pedal driving in automatics, to now virtual one pedal driving in this two pedal electric setup will take time for people to get use to.

No final pricing details even to this point

Dual tone variant not available on web booking

Have asked their customer care to work on these issues while booking my Sunday test drive request , they haven't followed up on the test drive request as well.
