Opinions about punto needed

Recommended Posts

@sham, you have done the right choice, buddy. You will never regret your decision.

But as BornFree has advised, it is better you wait till the Auto Expo. Fiat may come up with a more powerful diesel engine.

I've decided on the punto(emotion)

and will be picking it up in a few weeks.

There are a few queries on this.

1. I really like the wood finished dashboard and nicely leather rapped steering wheel.

But the former is not provided on any model and its too expensive to buy the emotion pack for the latter(ofcourse a few other goodies).

So would like to know how much would a wooden finish cost.. approx ?

secondly do you think I can ask the showroom folks to buy back the std wheels in favour of alloys and i'll pay the deficit?

2. The emotion model has dials instead of buttons for various controls.. I've not sat  in that model so dont really know how it feels.. if anyone has an opinion as to whether it feels cheap or if the dials are not upto the standard...

For now when i think of dials i can only recollect the age old maruthi 800's AC dials .that was really bad.. does this feel the same as well? :(

Apart from this is there anything that i should be worring about...

If anyone can help me asap it would be great.

Thanks

Sham, go for the emotion pack.

It is loaded with all the good features:

-Ergonomic leather steering wheel is superb to grip

-Leather gear shift knob

-Climatronic AC control is easy to set temp and defog

-Great looking alloy wheels

-Audio control on the steering wheel

-Blue & Me

-Wider tyres

All these features for an extra 55K, which is worth every paise!!

hmm..
well guys, Here Im in a dilemma!
Believe me my initial thoughts actually favoured rangc's but later it went the other way but im still thinking.

Its not that I cannot afford another extra 70k(not 55 in bangalore at least)
But the whole point being, if I can get the same thing done after I buy the emotion pack, why waste 70k on it?

Thus I asked about the alloy wheels buy back and about wooden finish...
Could you guys please tell me about it?

Secondly I would like to know if those dials feel cheap as described in my previous post. Opinions on that would be great as well.

@Sham

Emotion is a wise decision.

Its fairly equiped with very decent pricing.

Alloys can be added later, Climate Control not necesssary, and Airbags, lets pray its use will never be required for you.

Blue&Me, also not so important feature.

Thanks a lot for all your opinions helped me quite a lot to decide.

Ok ,I wont get the wood work done... :)

Secondly...How much do you think alloy wheels might cost?

which brand is a wise choice.

I think punto is shipped with bridgestone

I'll try asking them for a buy back and see how it goes...

Ok guys thanks again... I'll make another post by this month end after having driven my new punto for a few kms... :-)

Thanks again.

If you have budgets go for Emotion pack. Punto is a good buy. The car is very stable and body is strong and this makes this car a little heavy when compared to other cars. approx 150 Kg this is heavier. The engine is not so noisy. the sound you hear may be because of the bigger tubeless tyre. Check every aspects of the car before taking the car from showroom.Best of luck

Ive decided to go with the Emotion...

Had another round of test drive and was really awed by it..

Secondly now that you've brought up the issue of checking for issues before delivery.. could you please help me make a check list..

I'll be getting the car in the next 15days.

When in the showroom I happened to observe the under carriage of the rear wheels... near the sidewall.

The way they body follows through was not very convincing.. it was not a car kept for repair it was one placed for display...

I could see that it was not looking good.. May be im not too clear with my question.. but if anyone has noticed similiar issues could you please tell me if its ok.. or could it be a problem..

I can take a photo if you want me to..

please help ... urgent.

I think the puntos come with Goodyear tyres.

Punto comes in Different Tyres (both brand & size) in diff. variants.

Fiat Punto are

165/80 R14 for Active and Dynamic,

175/70 R14 for Emotion and

195/60 R15 for Emotion Pack

and the makes are Bridgestone, Michilin & Goodyear (Not very sure on brands though)

The car that Im picking up seems to have bridgestones...

Lets see what it finally comes out with!!!

Anyway thank you all once again. The discussion was very satisfying and helped me pick it up..

Secondly.. has anyone tried with 5 members on board?

Are the rear seats capable to handle them.. or cramped?

I never got to test this ...

If you are very fond of Bridgestones please insist upon the salesman to deliver one with this brand, which he definitely will.

Alright I may have an answer to this . The on full load has very good ride no doubt but me 6 foot + had to put the driving seat back as my clutch foot was rubbing against the central consol so only a kid and malnutritionedsmiley36.gif person could sit behind me comfortablysmiley4.gif.

But then you also get a large boot for a little lesser rear legroom .
