This could be the ultimate hot hatch. However Figo needs to shed its VFM image and should be well equipped. Because VFM conscious people won't buy a 104 BHP car. It will be for enthusiast only who won't mind spending some money for essential features such as Rear Power Window, Steering/seat adjustment etc.

We are not supposed to discuss any news here but this news was too good to be leave alone. itssanguine2011-03-25 08:55:40

About 320,000 vehicles may have been lost worldwide as of March 24, and manufacturing at plants in North America may be affected when parts supplies start running out as soon as early April, said Michael Robinet, vice president of Lexington, Massachusetts-based IHS Automotive.

A wise move by Toyota considering if it had stuck with launching Liva and Diesel Etios - Capacity crunch would have lead to more cancellation in booking of entire Etios range - Image would have been tarnished.

@Dr Nishu: But Ravi Shastri's winning the Audi in '83 was more prestigious. As it would have been a one off car then. It would have been more befitting if Yuvi was presented with an R8. This Q5 seems kinda tame in today's times.

@ashikawa: I think that lot of cars can be used for giving whole body 'radiotherapy'. Any one planning for a summer vacation to Japan; huge discounts to be had.

Radiation detected in Japanese cars imported in Russia

I Swear, the same thing was running in my mind from last one month.

I even doubt about Mazda brand too, as its HQ & its parent plant is in Hiroshima(the city bombed with Nuclear Atom bomb during WW-II) of Japan & if the Nuclear material content in its enviornment(air, water & soil) is still high then how these products remain unaffected by the same, afterall car manufacturing involves the use of everthing like air, water, etc.

I advice experts here to clarify this..

Thus the company plans to launch a small car which would be smaller than the Polo and positioned below it. This small car would have higher local content than the Polo and would debut in 2012 priced at Rs. 3 lakhs for the base variant. The company has extensively started sourcing parts locally to increase its cost benefit and has changed its accounting period to April-March from January-December (the latter being followed by Volkswagen globally).

Skoda planning on opening an entire new segment is certainly exciting news. I know a lot of people including myself who would love a compact 4x4 priced under 10Lacs. With the current options only being the not so compacts, inferior Safari and rather old and boxy Scorpio makes it hard to find something decent in this segment. The only sad part about this is that no proper time frame has been provided of when we can expect to see such cars on our roads.

Govt set to make diesel and LPG more expensive

Group of ministers to meet on June 9, quantum of increase the only issue, says senior official

With Assembly elections over and the latest increase in petrol prices almost two weeks old, the government is set to make diesel, kerosene and domestic LPG more expensive.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has made a case for increasing the prices of these three fuels. This even as the government has said its growth target for the year will not be met because of inflation pressures.

An empowered group of ministers (EGoM) on fuel would meet on June 9 to decide the quantum of increase, said a senior ministry official.

These three products have a combined weight of 6.32 per cent in the wholesale price index, which rose 8.66 per cent in April. The weight of diesel, used in transportation, is a substantial 4.67 per cent. The latest increase in petrol prices by Rs 5 a litre has not started reflecting in the inflation data yet.

The petroleum subsidy bill of the government jumped 70 per cent in the last financial year to Rs 78,159 crore. This forced the government to increase the subsidy burden of upstream oil companies (ONGC, OIL and GAIL) from one-third to 38.76 per cent.
