how to identify the problem the steering overhaul

Excessive Free-play in the Steering wheel at both standing & while moving is the first indication.

EPS(Elec Power Steering) in Maruti Suzuki cars are almost maintenance free' date=' if the Wheel balancing & Wheel Alignment is checked & maintained properly.

Also, keep an eye on it, if you feel the Inconsistent Power Assist in it.

and front and rear suspension overhaul please reply

Excessive Diving & Suspension noises are the Primary Indications of Suspension maintenance.

P.S: For better life of both Suspension & Steering system, Do get both of these Inspected once after 20-30k kms.

I bought a Maruti Swift VDI in Feb 2011 which has covered 3500 kms till date, in one year. In the first free service, Engine oil was changed and it cost just around Rs 750/-. However, in the third free service last month (10000 km/1year), engine oil was changed again (this time with some exotic castrol grade) and it cost around Rs 3400.00. The Maruti authorised dealer said Maruti has changed oil specifications!

My question is whether Maruti is overdoing the oil specification?

Please recommend a good engine oil brand/grade and frequency of change- considering my running is not much.
