My Arctic White New 2012 DZire ZDi

Recommended Posts

Update-II:

Till now the car has cloaked 2000kms.

Problems faced till to date:

-A week before rat entered into its AC Unit and died into it, engulfing the whole car into foul smell.

Got this problem alright at MASC. The whole repairs is carried out by opening its dashboard and AC Unit.

it took around 4-5 hrs and it costed around Rs.1200 to fix the issue.

-Afterthat, its music system has gone crap, as its display started blinking.

given at MASC for rectification and was given back in 2days.

Now the car is again back on the track.

No regrets with my Dzire but Maruti suzuki still needs something better workout to ensure the minor tit bits right.

Update-III:

Car is now ~7months old & 7.6k kms driven till to date.

2 free Services done.

Charges incurred in services are ~1100rs(for Wheel alignment, etc)

Fuel efficiency(in mixed conditions) is:

18+kmpl with Heavy driving foot & speeds of upto 120kmph or above.

~20kmpl with lighter foot on accelerator with speeds ranging till 90kmph max.

Refinement is improved alot, specially after 4.5k kms & the car is very much Refined now with one of the best NVH across the diesel cars of its a few above its segment.

Btw, I'm in the mood to have some changes/upgrades in it, preferably in:

1) ICE/Music System:

Planning for Bass tube or a Sub-woofer, possibly with or without Amp.

2) 3D Floor mats:

How are they actually in real-time usage ?

Are they really better than ordinary carpet mats ?

3) Genuine Leather Steering cover:

Not that cheap after-market showroom/accessory shop-type.

Want a well finished & properly stitched leather/leather-ite type, maybe somewhat nearly alike to that of OEM steering covers, as top-end variants of many luxury cars.

Suggestions are welcomed.

C'mon guys share your knowledge & experiences about these.

Many congrats on your new car purchase :) We need a more detailed review from you on this.. Hope to see one such review soon.

Thanks alot.

Will be upgrading the thread further in a more elaborative manner.

Good too see car treating you well dr.nishu. The Marutis are extremely reliable cars and I agree with you about the small issues or tit bits. Hows the build quality? Any rattles so far?

Thanks.

Yes minor tit-bits cropped, but in its initial days.

Build Quality is very good(my friend told to me also, as he's having 2008 Swift VDi) without any rattles.

'Touchwood for all praises of my hunny-bunny'. :P

Nicely done update Nishu.

To me, you are taking good care of this baby.

And btw...I am little surprised to know a Rat had entered into AC system?? But everything is well which ends well.

On Leather Steering - I dont know if you get it from Delear itself, but in my case i got it prefitted when I bought my Ritz in March this year. And it was very nice as well. So do check it once at your nearest one.

I found that the on board computer shows average higher by 1km

today I checked my vehicle's AVG by tank full method i.e. 530km / 37 liters which is 14.3kmpl but the AVG shown by the computer was 15.1kmpl.

I don't rely on MID, as it always keeps on fluctuating as per our accelerator inputs.

Specially the Range indicator can't be trusted & it might leave on stranded on highway for the fuel, as at one instance it shows 55km & on the other instance it shows 85km, again as per accelerator pedal inputs.

So, FE is always calculated as per tankful methods alongwith the help of trip meter.

Had 2 small accidents of my DZire last week resulted in some considerable harm to the car & my pocket also.

1) Its Driver side ORVM is being hit by a hard object(maybe wooden or of Iron), which the pedestrian was carrying while coming from the opposite side on a single road & at the speed of ~60kmph.

Result being the completely shattered ORVM casing & mirror unit & bent mirror frame.

2) Another being happened next day, a cat jumped onto the way suddenly & collided with its front bumper near the fog lamp.

Result being the cracked front bumper below the fog lamp.

Speed at that time was also ~60kmph.

I know how bad it feels on a "new" car but don't loose heart, these are "minor" accidents & its pretty hard to escape given our road & traffic conditions.

With Maruti the damage to your pocket shall be little, OVRM should come cheap. Did you check the prices ? Bumper crack cannot be repaired, you have a choice to carry it around as such with a paint job. On the other hand, the car being new, you could bank on Insurance claim, depreciation would be little.

Guess a new bumper should come cheap too. Could you post some pics...

Did you report the matter or any compensation from the party at fault ?

ORVM assemble itself costs around 7-8k & front bumper costs the same alongwith Painting & labour charges, etc.

Will go to the MASC for further evaluation.

Yeah, my friends brother's Dzzire Vdi which is having same type of OVRM as Zdi also got some damages and he was shocked to knwo 6000Rs price when he asked at MASC.

Maruti Spares and Service are not cheap now days

Yes, I still think so.

Just compare it to the price of ORVM assembly of Skoda Rapid/VW Vento/VW Polo, it'll definitely cost twice or thrice of the cost of that of Swift/DZire's.

The cost break up of the ORVM assembly can be understood as:

1) Outer casing: Rs.1500(approx).

2) Inner mirror: Rs.1500(approx).

3) ORVM frame assembly frame: It's an expensive part & is available as a unit itself with ORVM adjust motor, side indicator repeater LED lamp strip.

First two parts are available singly as sub-parts, while the 3rd one is only available with first two parts as a complete assembly.

If this is expensive, then i still remember the case of one of my friend's Micra repairs case, in which the front bumper replacement costed ~Rs.10k, while the tiny fog-lamps itself costed ~Rs.25k.

I still can't comment much further, but expect the repairs to be somewhat near to the cost they estimated.

I think we would be better off comparing Dzire's spares prices to Manza, Logan, Linea & the likes... :P

Nissan is relatively new in Country, the localization must not be that high say compared to a Maruti! Expect spares prices to come down in coming times...

Exactly.

I just compared because of the VW Polo & hence VW Vento & Skoda Rapid sharing the same parts & Rapid is just 50k expensive than DZire ZDi, so comparing not so fair competitors.

Manza or Logan, they somehow lacks the quality or short on the equipment part, so was not comparing them directly.

So dear Dr,

I have purchased my new Dezire VXi last month and I got outer cover (with indicator) of the ORVM broken as it striked to some object.

Rest everything OK.

So I have to spent Rs. 1500 aprrox as replacement of cover (whether comes with indicator also) or I have to get replaced complete ORVM for indicator also.

reply awaited.

Dear Dr_Nishu, Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident.

6k for the mirror assemby is on the higher side I feel, even if it comes with the mirror adjustment motor and a turn indicator. I think Maruti should have already done the localization of the part and hence I expect a lower price for the same.

More than the spare price, what irritates me the most is with the need to change all the fluids at every 20k interval.

Few examples:

My old Baleno had a coolant replacement at 30k whereas new Marutis have it at 20k

Also the gear oil and the brake fluid also needs replacement at 20k.

It is not just that the unnecessary replacements are a waste of money, but it also affects the environment!!

Sorry for going a bit off-topic

Well to answer it, you need to replace the whole ORVM as MSIL does not supply the cover as accessary and if it had been a case then all Lx/d-i user would have replaced it in their cars.

Therefore, you have two choices:

  1. Look for out side market cover if you could get it as chances are that you may get it from outside market. This should not cost you more then 1.5K. Or,
  2. Replace the entire ORVM which would be 5K to 6K for one side ORVM.

Did enough research on the ORVM of my Swift DZire in past few weeks, while finding for its replacement.

Outside casing/cover assembly is available both at Maruti Service centre as well as in outside market.

At MASC, it costs ~Rs.1500, while in outside market it costs much cheaper at ~Rs.500, but is black i color, you've to get it painted as per your car's color.

Casing & Internal mirror are independently available in Market as well as at MASC but if the frame assy is affected then whole ORVM assy needs to be replaced.

Indicator strip is separate element than outer casing & is fitted directly onto the ORVM frame assy.

Exact price at MASC is Rs.4700 + Rs.250 labour charges for its Installation, while its Genuine unit is available in outside market 15-20% cheaper, but again with black plastic casing & it has to be painted to match the body color.

Well to answer it, you need to replace the whole ORVM as MSIL does not supply the cover as accessary and if it had been a case then all Lx/d-i user would have replaced it in their cars.

L versions employs different design ORVM than V & Z versions, so part installation isn't a option for easy design switchover, thankfully.

Finally got the parts of the Driver side ORVM of my DZire:

After a bit searching in the spare parts market, finally bought,

Mirror Outer casing Assembly - Rs.350.

Inner Convex mirror(with fitting plate) - Rs.200.

Now the job what is remaining is paint job of ORVM casing as it's Matte Black in color & it has to be painted to the car's body color i.e Arctic White.

Now waiting for Paint job to get it fitted onto its DZired place.

@Nishu: What about turning indicator on the ORVM? How would be fix that?

Actually the LED indicator strip is mounted directly on the mirror frame not on the outer casing cover.

Casing cover is given a strip shaped window for indicator strip.

In my case Indicator strip was intact & perfectly functioning.
