The most awaited new Maruti Alto 800 has been finally launched at a price of Rs. 2.44 lakhs for the base model Ex Showroom Delhi. The first scoop pictures of the Alto 800 were first seen exclusively on the Autocar India forum.

The base trim gets standard features like grey interiors, vinyl seats, dual trip-meter and tubeless tyres, while the LX trim gets all these as well as fabric seats, air-conditioning and a remote fuel-lid opener. The top-end Alto 800 LXi comes with body-coloured bumpers and door handles, chrome-trim on front grille, full wheel-caps, grey or brown interior shade, silver-trim on inside door handles and speedometer, metallic finish on the steering wheel, remote opening for the hatch and internally adjustable ORVMs. This is the only variant that comes with an optional driver airbag; the lower variants will not have power windows or steering either. Maruti will also offer the Alto 800 with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

Maruti has spent Rs 470 crores on developing the new Alto 800. 200 engineers have worked for 4 years to develop the new car and it has been done entirely in India. Maruti says that over 10,000 cars have been booked even before the launch. Looks like Maruti has hit the bulls eye once again.

The new Alto 800 will be sold alongside the Maruti 800 (BS III markets only) and the Alto K10

Maruti Alto 800 prices:

Petrol- base Rs 2.44L, LX-Rs 2.76L, LXI-Rs 2.99L,

CNG- Base Rs 3.19L, LX-Rs 3.37L, LXI-Rs 3.56L (Ex-Delhi)

I feel the pricing is spot on. Maruti is not called small car king for no reason. What do you think of the pricing

Here is the ACI review for the new Alto 800:

Thats is indeed spectacular pricing. It is available in the following colours- Frost Blue, Blazing Red, Silky Silver, Torque Blue, Granite Gray and Superior White. One of the most important additions is an airbag on the driver’s side.

Spot on pricing once again from MS.

Yes, indeed it's sure to be a winner.

In-fact MS have been able to keep almost same old pricing for this new updated version.

Airbag is optional on Lxi so don't exactly know how much it will add on to cost.

Only downside for me is the CNG version pricing, 75k diff for the base petrol/cng variant is too much i think.

For old Alto it used to be around 50-55k for the 3 variants.

Price difference between Petrol and CNG version is on the higher side. You can get an aftermarket conversion done for approx Rs 40k.

They must've given some cosmetic update to the Maruti 800 as well and re-launched it today to be a better competitor to the Nano.

Yes, the CNG pricing is hard to digest. What technology is going into the Alto 800 CNG to merit this ?

EON on its part has reduced its prices for this festive season , near the Alto 800 LX prices, the competition heats up

Strategic pricing..

Maruti sensed the rising demand for CNG powered cars and hence why they want to cash on that demand.

Lets compare it with Eon:

EON Alto 800

Base: 2.79 (D-lite) 2.44 (Std)

Mid: 3.22 (Era+) 2.76 (LX)

Top: 3.52 (Magna+) 2.98 (LXi) 3.13 (LXI with Airbag)

Although Eon has some more features on offer.

But price will favour Alto800 during dicision making of many.

I have a very big doubt now.

Why buy "A* or Esilo or Wagon R or Alto K10" when you get decent interiors, better FE, adequate Power at far lesser price?

IMHO, this is going to Kill Maruti badly. Won't be surprised if this keeps selling 30+k every month.

Maruti Suzuki adds up top-end VXi variant to Alto 800 range:

Maruti has added a new top-end trim to the Alto 800.

This new trim is known as VXI and comes with additional equipment such as central locking, door side mouldings, full wheel covers, an integrated stereo with USB and four speakers, a left-side wing mirror and standard driver airbag and a rear spoiler. The Alto 800 LXI is priced at Rs 3.21 lakh while the new VXI trim costs Rs 3.36 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). So, the VXI variant offers better levels of kit for the price than the erstwhile top-end LXI variant.
