New Hyundai Santa Fe for India in 2013. SUV wars to hot up?

Hyundai is looking to get the new Santa Fe to India by 2013. It will be powered by a 2.2 litre diesel motor with 194 bhp on tap. Internationally, two versions of the new Santa Fe exist. There’s the normal 4689mm (2700mm wheelbase) version for markets where urban agility is more important, and a long, 4905mm (2800mm wheelbase) version that replaces the Veracruz in the USA. Despite our infatuation with imposing road presence and acres of cabin space when it comes to SUVs, we are likely to get the shorter version, currently being produced in the USA.

This is the third gen Santa Fe and also carries the Fludic Design philosophy seen in other Hyundai models on our roads. However it gets its own design dialect called 'Storm Edge'

Hyundai will be looking to price the new Santa Fe between Rs. 24 to 25 lakhs. Things seem to be hotting up in the premium SUV market with many players joining the game. This is only good news for the customer who will get spoilt for choice.

towards premium end of SUV market, competition was not present as such.

Because all other models than Fortuner, were either outdated (old Captiva) or so boring (Current SantaFe) in design that did not appeal anyone.

But with entry of Rexton, New Captiva and Santa Fe, the war will begin soon.

Even though the market volumes are less, this will add more spice in there.

IMO new Santa Fe is best looking SUV out there in that segment.

I just love Hyundais new designs. Once this comes here it will easily be the best looking of the lot. One thing i like about Hyundai is that they always get latest products to the indian market. With the approx price mentioned they should sell well.

If Hyundai launches the Full-Size Santa Fe at Rs 30 lakh or so, it can give complex to the likes of many other higher-priced competitors.

Oh well, you are right. Seems Hyundai has a plan, they may eventually launch a Long Wheel Base version of the Santa Fe with a premium.

Hyundai's fluidic properties are distinctly visible all around this SUV. The design tends to collide with the new Honda CRV .The crucial factor that comes is the price.

This model has to compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ssangyong Rexton, Chevy Captiva and the entry level German rivals the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Hyundai cars have always been different, hope for a good start.
