Isuzu starts bookings of MU-7 SUV and D Max Pickup at Rs.23.75 and Rs 6.87 lakhs Ex Hyd

Recommended Posts

Instead of usual fanfare, Japanese car maker Isuzu has gone ahead and silently opened bookings of the MU-7 SUV and the D Max pickup in single and double cab configurations. The first dealership has come up in Hyderabad and a second one will be coming up soon in Coimbatore

Prices: Ex Showroom Hyderabad

MU-7 SUV - Rs 23.75 lakhs

D Max Single Cab - Rs 6.87 lakhs

D Max Double Cab - Rs 8.09 lakhs

Pretty steep pricing if you ask me. The D Max will surely have a tough time competing against the established, tried and tested Mahindra products

This looks very high, perhaps considering the fact that they do not have a know foot print in Indian market, so pricing had to be correct. Otherwise, who will buy them?

Considering the brand value the japanese brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi & ISUZU are having in India, these ISUZU cars will definitely sell here in more than adequate numbers.

Price of somewhere around Rs.16-17.5 lacs has been adequate for it, but Rs.23+ lacs for something like MU-7 is too expensive & it inturn has itself made Force One a strong proposition in itself.

really, this prices are sky-high!

MU-7 should be priced at 15 lakhs<, as it's a completely new & you must offer something mouth watering to attract the customers! & the problem with the D max is that it isn't either a proper commercial grade pickup or a lifestyle vehicle! It can be converted into a lifestyle vehicle by improving the overall looks by accesories like bull-bars, large Fog lamps & also offering a better quality interiors & a 4X4 transmission, but at the same price! or drop it's prices upto 5-6 lakhs, so it'll be a proper commercial grade vehicle!

@Mods,

I mean what I say, think logically as follows.

The Grande Sumo & Tata Xenon. One a SUV & another a pickup. Both are priced similar( atleast not like Mazda).

The price of D-MAX double cab is 8L, add 1L for additional metal, 1L for Premium interiors & 3rd row seat and you should have the MU-7.

What is the Justification for the 16L( on road difference will be more) that one pays for additional 2 seats?

If launched at 10L, it should have been a hit from day one, since you get Japanese reliability, loads of space and a butchy SUV.

Only the Platform is same, rest all things are different from Engine, Transmission to body paint finish, Projector headlamps & Interior trim & many more.

But i'd still say MU-7 is over-priced.

IMHO, they will be recovering the losses made on D-Max(by pricing it cheap) by over-pricing the MU-7.

Who can expect a well-built Japanese CBU Pick-up truck at Rs.6 & 8 lacs(Single & Twin cab respectively), if the barebasic Thar & GURKHA retails at Rs.8+ lacs price. Afterall who gonna pay 120% tax duties of these CBU pickup vehicles or they really cost equivalent to Rs.2.8-3.7 in Thailand, from where they're being imported currently.

^^^ @dr_nishu. Great pictures. So best thing to do, is to buy the double cab. Spent some money and spurce it up with alloy wheels, Music system, body colored bumpers and if required do some more and you will have an SUV with excellent VFM. No point in buying the 25 lac monster. If you want to accomodate more people do some mod job like this

Isuzu single and double cab may do well this come with out Airconditioning need t.o opt for dealer fitted options this may save lifetax to a bit , The competitive price for. MU-7. With those Leafsprings on rear wheels and Low floor fitted 3rd Row seats (6inches of the floor ) and with 2 Wheeldrive , should be max 18 Lakhs on road .

Contrary to how they priced MU-7, pricing of D-Max is spot on.

At this price range, the engine spec, overall quality and even exterior (front face) is too good for a commercial segment vehicle.

In fact, a low end 7 seater with this price range would have got Mahindra Bolero sweating.

Hope they had launched twin cab version too.

Yes , MU 7 pricing is crazy

even at 20L everyone would be tempted to go for the Fortuner 2.5L if not 3L

It should have definitely be priced couple of lakhs cheaper to actually make a dent in the market.
