Pics and details: Maruti SX4 face lift EDIT: Now launched

Recommended Posts

Here are full details of the face lift Maruti SX4. Since these pictures appear to be at a stock yard, looks like the launch is just around the corner. There is no clue on pricing yet though.

Here is full list of changes in the new model:

Exterior

  • Grille: From the earlier mesh grille, the new 2013 SX4 gets a more prominent grille. It has 4 chrome bars running across horizontally with a chrome outline. The top of the grille also gets a wider chrome bar which now sits at the tip of the bonnet. Also, notice the protruding Suzuki ‘S’ logo which also appears to be slightly bigger.
  • Airdam: The airdam gets bigger or lets, rather, say wider.
  • Fog Lamps: The fog lamps housing is re-carved, though, they (fog lamps) retain their circular shape.
  • Front Bumper:The front bumper is modified to accommodate the above mentioned changes.
  • Integrated Indicators: Though not on this variant, the top of the line variants get turn indicators integrated into the ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors). Till now they were just adjustable.
  • Colors: Interested customers will have added option of at least a couple of new colors – Grey and Blue.

Interior

  • Touchscreen Multimedia System: Many other cars have it and now SX4 also gets it. A centrally placed (6 or 7 inch) multimedia audio player. In all probability, it will also get in-built GPS navigation functionality. However, this will only be available over the top Z variants and at a premium.
  • Dual Tone Interiors: New 2013 SX4 gets dual tone interiors. While the top of the dashboard is black, it gains beige as you go down. As you can see from the pics, door trims and other interior bits are also beige

  • Refreshed Door Panels:Maruti has carried over a few bits from the Celebration Edition SX4. The internal door handles are all chrome and the faux wood trim at the door panels is darker in color.
  • Electrically Foldable ORVM: The outer Rear View Mirrors get an added electric folding functionality. Again, this is only limited to the top of the line variants.
  • Knobs & Chrome: The old-era knobs have been carried over on the CNG model. The odd-looking vertical chrome bars placed besides the stereo are also carried over.

The face lift will be sold in petrol, diesel and CNG variants in MT and AT transmission. AT will be only in petrol though.

The old one looks more sportier than the new chrome front one. I hope this is the final facelift for the good 'ol SX4 before the new car arrives.

Maruti will also mostly ditch the current SX4's petrol motor in favour of the one which is being used in the Ertiga petrol.

Seeing the minor changes for an old model, it reminds me of Tata and all the similar changes made on Indica's or Indigo's.

Few add-ons like chrome and minor bumper change wont work.

Maruti Suzuki is fighting hard to keep up the sales volume.

But such lame efforts will help the company for a very small time.

But i think the Maruti Suzuki is playing tricks with pricing,

Now they will increase the price just to show they are charging for the improvements.

Later in a month or two they start giving out discounts (start Showing Discounts).

Sales and Marketing team at MSIL is gem.

Atleast they are doing something and keeping buzz around their cars.

Look at the dumb guys at Chevrolet India, they don't even bother to promote thier nice product Sail Sedan.

Maruti has always been a front runner with the kind of products it makes , dont know where did this wisdom go when re-designing the new SX4.

Is this the best they could come up with ?

In another pic in a darker shade that i saw online the SX4 also looks like an Chinese product to hit us.

Also the prices are again almost the same ,so no wonders there also , the Touch screen interface and refreshed interiors will not be able to take it anywhere in my view.I am sure we will see another round of price cuts and discounts being offered on the New SX4 few months after its launch, similar to the huge discounts we have on the vehicle now.

Just a lame effort to update the already outdated product.

This minor nip-n-tuck job can only contribute to the long-term value of the car as the existing owners of the car can still think of replacing their car's front bumper with this new-look job, which in-turn can pave the right path for upcoming next-gen SX4.

has launched a mildly facelifted version of the SX4. The refreshed SX4 gets slightly reworked front styling like the updated grille and reworked front bumper.

The interior gets a new dual-tone black and beige shade. The AC vents and inside door handles get chrome surrounds and marble print trim. The wing mirrors are now electrically foldable and now come with turn-indicators on them.Customers can also opt for a touch-screen unit that features integrated Bluetooth, audio and navigation.

As earlier, the SX4 is available in two trim levels with petrol, diesel and CNG fuel options. According to Maruti, the SX4 petrol now delivers fuel efficiency of 16.7kpl, while the diesel is good for 21.79kpl and the CNG gives 22.1 km/kg.

Maruti has not changed the prices for the updated SX4. The base petrol variant, VXI is priced at Rs 7.39 lakh while the base diesel VDI costs Rs 8.27lakh. The top-end petrol variant, ZXI is priced at Rs 8.25 lakh while the diesel version, ZDI tops at Rs 9.22 lakh. The SX4 VXI CNG is priced at Rs 7.99 lakh

(All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Dull-looking car gets a very minor facelift. It's not even much of a facelift, but merely a make-up job. The SX4 has not been selling well for the past few months, and these high prices for a product that feels cheap will not help. What the SX4 really needs is a price drop.

I feel more than the exteriors, the interiors of SX4 needed an upgrade badly. In my opinion, SX4's exteriors fair well with the other seadans in its class even after 6 years of its launch. However the same could not be said about the interiors.

Maruti is trying to pick up maximum sales by adding some facial & tech tweaks to their existing models.

When will they launch new models and add a bunch of blasters to their fleet?

Interestingly, I've seen 2-3 new SX4 sedan on-road this week.

Surely but don't how but this minor nip-n-tuck job has made this car to gain some momentum, at least a dealer can easily clear his stock now, as against previously.

Let see how this face-lift car fares on its monthly sales figures.

See this is an SX4 face-lift as revealed by Suzuki in Shanghai motor show this year & I think this was the best & more updated face for SX4 facelift here than recently launched Chrome-loaded one and could've easily stretched the life cycle of this SX4 for another 1 year, till the next-gen SX4 arrives here in Mid-2014.

Btw, who said to Maruti Suzuki that they can't skip the face-lift gen to get the recent one for India or we're China-bin now & this time we've started getting China-rejected parts, vehicles here Rio, SAIL, Enjoy, etc.
