Chevrolet had stopped selling the Sail sedan and UVA earlier this month due to a problem in the 1.3 diesel motor. Chevy had also stopped the sales of the BSIII Tavera as well. These models experienced problems on the ‘Conformity of Production or confirmation of performance’ (COP) certification from ARAI when it inspected a few vehicles coming off the assembly lines and found the Tavera not meeting BS III emission norms. Similarly, the Sail engine was not able to achieve COP certification, experiencing quality issues in its engine.

But now production is likely to be restarted according to Autocar Professional. Read the whole story here:

Tavera was selling good for its segment, it will be good to see it coming back in business.

Cant say the same about the rest of the 2 products though :)

Out of the 3 only dud is Sail UVA . The sedan is doing good atleast in Mumbai I have more spottings of Sail sedan than Amaze. Travera is the only competitor to Bolero and it will sell in 2 tiers cities well. Chevy needs a game changer and Enjoy is seen in goos numbers here in Mumbai for a newly launched vehicle.

It seems GM is still struggling to put an end to this Regulatory Compliance nightmare !!

Tavera sale in Aug'13 was negative (-3). That means the production of both BSIII and BSIV Tavera has not yet started (or atleast despatches).

The Sail Sedan and hatch breakup is as given below

Sail UVA - 331 - Petrol 322 & Diesel 9

Sail Sedan - 841 - Petrol 678 & Diesel 163

So the problem with Diesel seems to be continuing, Enjoy and Beat has been saving face for GM in last couple of months.
