  3. There is an online petition doing the rounds started by a Delhi based harley Davidson street 750 owner, after he and some fellow HOGs suffered terrible crashes on account of the faulty brakes in the Street 750. The Company and its showrooms/dealers have been completely apathetic to the woes of the riders and have simply used this as yet another means to extort exorbitant sums of money to rectify the damage to the bikes, whereas what they should have done is to recall the bikes and rectify the faulty brakes. Some riders have had very narrow escapes, including members of my riding group but repeated requests to Capital Harley Davidson have fallen on deaf ears. some HOGS have now started a petition to HD India management onwww.change.org the URL for the petition is https://www.change.org/p/vikram-pahw...-faulty-brakes We approached some auto mags to carry this story on account of the potential life threat to the riders, but i guess HD india advertising rupees are far more precious for some. Since T-Bhp is neutral and impartial, we are now posting this here to raise awareness among the riders and hope that the HD management wakes up before its too late. God forbid should a rider have a fatal crash on account of the inherently defective bikes. HD claims to have rectified the problem in the 2016 street 750 but have flatly refused to recall earlier bikes to retrofit the improved brakes. If this is not callousness and dereliction, then i dont know what is. I am posting this on behalf of fellow HOGS. a lot of us dont ride street 750s but have decided to throw our weight behind fellow HOG brothers since the issue is much larger than just a particular bike model. 9. With better armed rivals such the Honda City and Hyundai’s Verna 4S (among others), Volkswagen has been feeling the pressure for quite a while. So let’s see what this new 2015 Vento brings to the table.he alterations made to the 2015 Volkswagen Vento are mostly cosmetic. That’s not a bad thing as the outgoing one’s mechanicals are pretty much bullet-proof. Let’s start with exterior changes and the front fascia, first. New and more mature-looking front grille with 3 slats, like the one on the Passat. Newer front bumper that’s more aerodynamic. There’s rectangular fog lights with built-in cornering lights. There’s a pronounced chrome strip running across the lower part of the air dam. The changes to the side of the 2015 Vento aren’t much, save for the integrated turn indicators in the ORVMs. You’ll also notice a newer design for the 15-inch alloy wheels. These are identical to the ones found on the new Polo hatchback. Otherwise, majority of the design here remains unaltered. The rear of the 2015 Volkswagen Vento look a bit more upmarket now. Just like the front fascia, there have been some changes at the rear too. Also, we must add, there’s chrome galore all over this saloon. A revised bumper has a thick strip of chrome at the bottom and gets reflectors. The boot can now be opened externally, thanks to a boot release button. The tailpipe and door handles now get dashings of chrome too. The chrome strip on the boot has moved up, now located just below the ‘VW’ logo. Taillight cluster is now refreshed and looks more premium. The cabin retains the overall look and finish of the 2014 Vento. The fantastic flat-bottom steering wheel remains and so do the audio controls on it. There’s the well executed silver detailing that is to be found on the wheel, AC vents and around the infotainment rig. The new additions include: Cruise control functionality. Darker beige interior than before. Dead pedal for your left foot is a definite boon on long highway stints. There’s now an auto-folding feature for the electronically operated ORVMs. VW has also added a cooled glovebox for added convenience. Mechanically, the 2015 Volkswagen Vento remains unaltered and that isn’t bad. The engines remain the same too and you can opt for a 1.2-litre petrol mill, a 1.6-litre petrol and there’s the 1.5-litre TDI motor too. As before, you get the choice of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG unit. (source:motoroids)
  10. The Mahindra Thar has been here for quite a time now and the only upgrade it got was a HVAC at a later stage. According to reports floating on the cyberspace, Mahindra is planning to launch the updated model soon and here on this page we have some of the images of the updated Thar which has apparently already reached some dealerships. Compared to the outgoing model, the updated Thar has been equipped with a slightly redesigned soft top which comes with transparent plastic windows on both sides. The side step, as can be seen in the image, has been now finished in black. On the interior front, Mahindra hasn’t tinkered much and has added silver inserts on the centre console. Other changes include a more efficient and updated HVAC system. With this update, Mahindra may also slightly bump up the prices for the 2015 Thar which will continue to be powered by the same engines- 2.5 liter CRDe mill churning out 105 BHP and 247 Nm of twisting force and the entry level 2.5 liter DI motor which churns out 63 BHP and 195 Nm of torque. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the updated Mahindra Thar launch and other details.(source-teambhp)

  12. The Lamborghini Countach in its era could well be termed as a car made for a Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster. No wonder it was the car of choice of the Automan series of the eighties where the superhero would make all the unworldly moves in his Countach. Decades would have passed since the first Lamborghini Countach stepped onto the scene but even today, it has been an object-de-desire and an absolute timeless classic. Car collectors fervently looking out for one are in for some good news. Not one, but three Lamborghini Countachs would be going under the hammer at RM Auctions in Paris on the 4th of February 2015. The first of the three is a rare 1977 right-hand drive LP400 “Periscopo” in a lusty red coat with black leather interiors. Records of the car states that the original owner took delivery of the Countach in June 1977 from the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata and clocked 3449 kms in just 14 days returning for its first service. The car has clocked 57,000 kms since and has undergone an engine rebuild and a respray. Expected price- £901,000 to £1,125,000 The next Lambo on the list is a white 1980 LP400S. Though not as stock as the first one, it underwent performance upgrades consisting of a turbocharger, uprated braking system, a modified QV (quattrovalvole aka four valves per cylinder) , custom-built manifold and exhaust. Expected price- £375,000 to £526,000. The third one is a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition and the fastest Countach produced with a top whack of 292 kph (183 mph) and turned out to be the best selling Countach with sales numbers of 667 units. The car has also undergone an engine rebuild- surprisingly for running as low as just 5000 miles. The owner has upgraded the interiors with tan leather and replaced the original rims with OZ racing wheels. Expected price- £188,000 to £225,000 source-Via: TeleGraph
  13. The Middle East has always been a watering hole for premium and boutique manufacturers selling their wares, with a raft of special and limited editions built exclusively for the oil-bearing region. The Bentley Mulsanne Majestic edition adds to that list. Not surprisingly, the Crewe based brand’s flagship saloon has been the most successful in the Middle East, and as a testimony to that, the Majestic edition was born. Only 15 units will be built, five of which will go to Qatar, where the Mulsanne Majestic was launched at the Al Wajba Motors dealership in Doha alongside the Continental GT3-R. Another five units are reserved for Saudi Arabia, with the remaining five to go to the United Arab Emirates. Inspired by royalty, each of the bespoke, limited edition cars are unique in trim and specification, as well as being littered with ostentatious touches like a Special Ivory‎ exterior paint with a single fine line in Saddle, exclusively designed 21-inch Mulliner branded five spoke alloy wheels and “Majestic” badges along the front wheel arches. The interiors feature Magnolia seats, seat belts & panels, Dark Tan carpets, Magnolia binding & deep black curtains in the rear for added privacy, “Majestic” lettering inlaid on the rear iPad tables, cup-holder lid and waist rails, two loose cushions trimmed and piped in the same hide as the seats, a refrigerated bottle cooler with frosted glasses and crystal flutes. Each of the cars has its unique number and also features illuminated tread plate plaques with “‎Majestic” lettering. At the heart of the car lies Bentley’s iconic, powerful 6¾-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. (source:motoroids)

  15. With new models and updated variants lined up for launch, car makers are clearing off their current inventory by offering huge discounts on their outgoing models. Now, if you are planning to buy a new car but are running low on budget, then this might just prove to be a perfect time for you. Volkswagen is offering as much as Rs 1.2 lakh worth of discount on its mid-size sedan, Vento while Indian car maker Maruti Suzuki is offering its outgoing SX4 with a discount of Rs 90,000. German car maker Volkswagen is all set to introduce the new version of its mid-size sedan, the Vento. However, the current model did not find many buyers and dealers are stuck with the inventory. Hence, dealers are offering the base diesel variant of the Vento at a discount of Rs 1.2 lakh which includes Rs 90,000 cash discount and Rs 30,000 exchange bonus. Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is all set to enter the Indian car market. The company will be replacing the current SX4 sedan with the new Ciaz. Maruti has already stopped the production of the SX4. To clear the remaining stock, the SX4 is being offered at a discount of Rs 90,000 across all variants. The new 2014 Fiat Grande Punto has already reached dealer stockyards. However, the outgoing variants are also lying in stock and dealers are offering a discount of up to Rs 70,000 on this hatchback from fiat. The offer includes a cash discount of Rs 50,000 and other benefits like free insurance and corporate discount. Tata Motors officially unveiled its new compact sedan this week and is planning to introduce its hatchback, the Bolt soon. With these two new models, the existing Tata Indica Vista and Manza are likely to see drop in demand. Although the company is not planning to stop the production, these old models from Tata may see cut in production. You can grab an Indica Vista at a discount of Rs 63,500 which includes free first year’s insurance along with Rs 30,000 cash discount, exchange bonus and a corporate discount. With Festive season right around the corner, this might be a perfect time to pick up a new car and bring it home. (Source - ET Auto)
  16. Ethanol-Blended petrol with an ethanol content of 10% might soon be a reality in India. To cut its import bills, the Narendra Modi led Government is pushing for a move to legalize 10% ethanol in petrol. The move to introduce 10% ethanol-blended petrol is aimed at reducing the import bill, and curb the fiscal deficit. India is one of the largest importers of crude oil in the world. Due to unavailability of crude oil resources, India has to depend on imports. The addition of a higher amount of ethanol will help in reducing the import costs. In addition, ethanol-blended petrol has certain advantages for the environment as it is leaves lesser emissions on being combusted. However, automakers have been left to grapple with the after-effects of this decision. Currently, petrol sold in India has a3% ethanol content. On being increased to 10%, certain changes will be necessary in the engines and ancillary parts. These include : 1. Upgradation of fuel hoses – Natural rubber is vulnerable to degradation by ethanol. Overtime, this will affect the performance of the engines. 2. Need for larger fuel tanks – Ethanol might be a cleaner fuel, but it has lesser energy content than petrol. This will require more amount of fuel to travel the same distance in a given vehicle. Hence, the vehicles need to be fitted with larger fuel tanks. 3. Effect on aluminium structures – Aluminium is widely used in constructing engines nowadays, to allow for a lesser weight. However, the use of ethanol-blended petrol could affect aluminium engines as ethanol has higher water content. This can corrode the aluminum parts of the engine. Certain automakers have already taken this in stride, and have made their powerplants ethanol compatible. For example, certain cars of Maruti-Suzuki and Honda are labelled “E10 Compatible”. However, manufacturers like Tata Motors and few others are yet to adapt to the changing landscape. Source - Business Standard
  17. However, not all of these people are doing it for cheap thrills. One could be touring on a Motorcycle and adhering to the speed limit of 50 kmph for two-wheelers is simply impossible, similarly, Cars are built to be much safer than they were in in 1989, when the road transport and highways ministry had last notified speed limits. So after two and a half decades and an improved network of highways and expressways, the Government is all set to revise the maximum speed limit of each category of vehicles plying on roads across the country. Cars will be allowed to ply at 100 km per hour, while the maximum speed limit for goods vehicles will be 80 km. Motor cycles will also be allowed to ply at 80 kmph, against the earlier norm of 50 kmph. There will be a recommendation for separate speed limits for Urban areas. The speed limit of Quadricycles, a new category of vehicles, is also set to be fixed at 70 kmph. While earlier the speed limit was based on vehicle type, this time the new norm is based on the seating capacity of all such vehicles. So a vehicle that accommodates 9 people, excluding the driver, can hit a maximum speed of 80 kmph, whereas, a vehicle with a seating capacity of less than 8 can hit 100 kmph. “It’s up to the state governments and local authorities including police to notify the speed limit for vehicles plying on state highways, city and on rural roads,” said a road transport ministry official. Increasing speed limits on our roads is a good measure, but how many of us will really adhere to it, unless we have cameras on roads which reads our licence plates, automatically deducts the fine from our linked bank accounts and makes a dent on our driving licences with some black points. Maybe the “Hum Do, Humaare Do” slogan needs a change too, something like, “Hum Ek/Do, Humaare adopted Ek/Do/Teen…” Source: ET
  18. The Maruti Suzuki Ciazwill be launched in Septemebr. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been spotted numerous times being tested around Maruti’s Gurgaon facilityThe car which was previewed as a concept at the Auto Expo in Delhi, earlier this year, looks aggressively stylish with those double-barrel headlamps which sweep upwards, large chrome grille in the centre and wide, sporty bumpers at both ends, however, the rear tail-lamps are dangerously similar to those on the new Honda City. The car is wider than the outgoing SX4 and promises excellent back-seat comfort. Other features on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will include : Push-Button Start Rear AC Vent Driver Seat with height adjustment Dead Pedal Leather upholstery 16 inch tyres The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be powered by both diesel and petrol powerplant options and both should be available at launch. The petrol will be the 1.4 Liter K-Series engine from the Ertiga which makes 95 ps of power and 130 Nm of torque. The diesel option will be the same old 1.3 Liter DDiS motor which will be tuned for 90 ps and 200 Nm of torque. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be priced in the range of INR 7.5-10.5 lakhs. Bookings should commence in early August.(Source: Zigwheels)
  19. Honda India has started work on their new Compact SUV and a small car for India. Both cars will be partly developed in India to benefit from local components and keep costs low. The project has moved from a consideration to a developmental phase in the last few months. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, president and CEO of Honda Motor India, said the process to develop the small car has just begun. “It is not very far, but we can’t give you an exact time,” he said, without commenting about the Honda Compact SUV. The Small car is being developed keeping in mind other South Asian and African markets and has been code-named as ‘World A Entry Car’. The new car and the Compact SUV will be built on the GSP platform, which it will share with the Amaze, Brio and the Mobilio. The small car will be positioned below the Honda Brio competing with the mid-entry-level hatchbacks like the Wagon-R, the Beat and the i10. The Compact SUV is expected to compete with the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra’s upcoming compact SUV. The segment will also witness entrants from the stables of Maruti and Hyundai by that time. Honda’s new vehicles should hit the market by 2017 and help catapult sales numbers. Honda is strengthening it’s R&D capability in India and plans to expand its dealer network of 107 to 150 cities by March next year. While Japan will be the lead country to develop the vehicles, Matsumoto has stressed on India’s role in developing the small car, saying it “will come out of the R&D centre in India”. “After a few years, India will be the No. 1 country in the Asia Oceania region, that’s why we already have a setup of R&D in India,” he said. Honda’s R&D base in Greater Noida has played a key role in localising existing and new cars. The new City has a localisation level of close of 90% and the new Mobilio has more than 90% of its parts sourced in India. Source: ET
  20. Internal combustion engines burn fuel to propel a vehicle forward, could also go backwards if you know how to reverse. However, if the internal combustion goes external, it will surely propel you into a state of shock. The shock is even bigger if your ride is an exotic super-car. An Audi R8 V10 has reduced to Ashes in London and the pictures here will definitely invoke nostalgia in the minds of those who remember a similar incident that happened in the city of Mumbai in 2013. The fire has melted almost everything, except the front, which suggests the source of ignition was either in the cabin or in the engine bay. No further details are available, however, our heart goes out for the owner and the car. Perhaps the saddest way for a car to depart. (source motoroids)
  21. To stay with the newly launched honda mobilio, maruti if offering more discount on ertiga. The Ertiga is being offered with a discount of Rs 70,000 which includes a cash discount, exchange bonus and a corporate discount. Discounting is common practice for cars with sluggish sales. But, with sales figures averaging over 5,000 units every month, a discount on Ertiga is a sign of reacting to competition by Maruti. Powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine the Honda Mobilio churns out 117 bhp and 98 bhp of power respectively. Not only is the Mobilio more powerful, it is also more fuel efficient than the Ertiga with overall efficiency figures of 17.3 kmpl for petrol and 24.2 kmpl for diesel.
  22. Latest news from sources reveal that the launch date of the compact sedan and the hatchback is scheduled in August and September respectively.(sorce - motoroids)
  23. As the competition in the Indian two-wheeler segment heats up, good new continue flowing in for Indian motorcycle enthusiast community. After the official launch of global two-wheeler manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycles and Triumph Motorcycles, India will now witness yet another motorcycle company enter the cruiser motorcycle market some time later this year or early next year. Latest news suggest that Polaris Industries owned Victory Motorcycles is expected to enter the Indian two-wheeler market soon. Although there is official announcement from Polaris, Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director of Polaris India told BikeAdvice in an interview that they are going to introduce Victory Motorcycles in India. However, Dubey refrained from giving any timeline.Victory Motorcycle would be the second American motorcycle brand to be brought into India by Polaris, after the launch of the iconic Indian Motorcycles in January 2014. Victory brand has won a lot of recognition. It has won JD Power North America’s Best Quality Motorcycle Award for 10 consecutive years apart from many other awards. The bikes will be brought in India as a Completely Built Units (CBU).Victory Motorcycles is reportedly going to be priced under Indian Motorcycles. Dubey says that the lineup will start from somewhere around Rs 20 Lakhs all the way upto 33Lakhs. In comparison, Indian Motorcycles range starts around 26 lakhs. This will place Victory Motorcycles bang opposite Harley Davidson in India. However, Harley Davidson will still enjoy an upper hand till Victory Motorcycles sets up a production facility in India. India has already witnessed Victory Motorcycles as Polaris sold off the models they had showcased during the 2012 Auto Expo to private buyers. Although no timeline has been provided by Polaris, Victory Motorcycles are expected to have an official launch sometime later this year or early next year.
  24. Rotate your tyres at least once in 5000 kilometres as regular tyre rotation promotes uniform wearing of all the tyres of the vehicle. Directional tread design tyres should remain on the same side of the vehicle and must be rotated straight forward and straight back. In a four-wheeler, it is recommended that both pairs of tyres are crossed to their new axle positions. Check your vehicle owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s rotation recommendations, and also adjust inflation pressures accordingly. Your safety is directly linked to a good level of tread depth; the tread grooves disperses water from underneath your tyre, helping maintain steering control on wet roads. Better tread depth ensures that water is dispersed in a way that it reduces the risk of dangerous condition where a thin film of water removes the traction between the tyre and the road causing virtual loss of steering control. Maintaining the recommended air pressure in your tyres as well as regular vehicle maintenance ensures tyre performance for the longest possible time keeping the vehicle and rider safe during monsoons. As the monsoon sets in, it is mandatory to take these precautionary measures to avoid accidents. Tyre condition being one of the major causes for accidents, it is needed that one takes added precaution for the same and gets his vehicle monsoon ready. There are few more points to look in for like Headlights,Taillights,Wiper Blades,Clear Windshield (Windshield Washer) etc.
