  1. Let me add. duPont does neither make nor support Teflon additives for cars. You are better off with no additives. Honda does not even recommend Premium Petrol. Premium petrol is the biggest scam in India now. Under BS3/4 it should be 95RON. None is. I suggest if you have a feeling of some injector problem add System G once or twice.
  2. Saw in the papers today, that even Ulta Pradesh is likely to finalise details of the contract in the first week of next month. Fingers (and toes) crossed. Now what happens to all the sarkari White Marias with numbers in Devanagri (illegal of course).
  3. At the risk of repetition in December 2009 I got a City as a loaner for a few days. Was scared out of my wits reversing it, the first time in my life since 1969 (when I got my DL) . At night I ended up parking it about 3' from the curb.
  4. @GOLF: I think Nokia and MS have announced that in future all Nokias will be Windows. It may be interest that the new CEO of Nokia is ex-Microsoft. Now RIM is also in trouble - shares drop 80% in a year. So maybe we will only be left with Android & iOS as the major players. I just saw somewhere that the Motorola Defy is a good phone, and is also waterproof. The biggest thing is that Cynogen is now supporting it.
  5. I have a feeling that the 1.6 was a precursor for the AT version!
  6. I have no sympathy for politicos. You just cannot change legislation on a whim. In any case her attempt to attract industrialists will be very badly (maybe fatally) hit.
  7. Are we not getting a bit confused. CG employees who are transferable can opt to pay the road tax annually, and not as an OTT. This is different from a full exemption. Road tax is a state subject so I do not think the GoI can legislate a blanket exemption.
  8. Not as far as I know. Many firms give additional discounts for Govt servants, professionals, corporate employees, and the likel There was some discussion that CG employees are exempted from tolls when on duty!
  9. Now RIM is in trouble - 80% drop in share price in a year. Let us see who buys them out - Microsoft is one potential partner.
  10. I would suggest that at least the senior members should report such threads, and suggest alternates where these options have already been discussed.
  11. Petrols normally sell costlier than diesels - reason is simple, the perception is that diesels would have done far higher mileage, and have more maintenance costs after 5 years. So you pay a Premium when you buy a diesel, and get less when you sell it. Maybe different in the diesel hotspots like the South and Punjab.
  12. I hope what you say pans out. They even announced a 1.5AT Jazz and then withdrew the 1.5 as well as the AT!
  13. At the moment I do not see them getting rid of Herr Modi for the next decade or two! sgiitk2011-06-22 04:05:18
  14. @rahul; Worth considering. I retire in under three years, so will be 'free' in 2014.
  15. @drifty; aka NOIDA has NO IDeA as how to manage the water supply in the not too distant future. This is what led t the decline of gurgaon. As for Law and order in NOIDA I am not too sure. More seriously, I am thinking of something bigger than a few sq.miles - a state and not a town.
  16. I heard that a couple of ex-IITD chaps even managed to automatically detect over 95% of the current plates. The system is probably in use at IITD. I have HSRP type plates on by Civic. Also, hopefully these, if and when they come will get rid of the local language pain. At the moment Meghalaya has them mandatory on new cars - they have found a goo way to avoid the RTO menace. You will not get your registration papers until you provide a receipt from Shimnit Utsch (the concessionaires). As per the current law all fixation has to be by the RTO!

    Car Cover query?

Tyvek covers are excellent, light weight, soft, breathable, and virtually indestructible. I hear that Reliance Autozone sells them.
  18. @Brn2Crz: good idea but the water flow demanded by a pressure washer is huge. The filter will not permit enough flow, and then the safety will cut in preventing high pressure. I have a Karcher bought in 1991 so have some experience. IN addition to the washer one thing I find very useful is the drain cleaning tool. sgiitk2011-06-21 04:14:45
  19. Welcome to Mera Bharat Mahaan. After 64 years of independence the govt is in capable of giving the citizens power, clean water, good roads, and safety. maybe we should look for some places in India where we can get these. My wife is so disgusted by all being crooks, that she has stopped voting. I try and find the least crooked! In Ulta Pradesh power situation this year is slightly better - elections in 2012.
  20. I would not be surprised since my Civic gives me 15+ on the highway. However, pedal to-metal drops this down to 11 or so. Also the consumption indicator is about 10% optimistic.
  21. @nishu; Are these India specs? Then the CVT is there as an option.
  22. The Jazz is the same as Fit! So a new Jazz is in the pipeline. Engine is reduced to 1.2 to take advantage of out excise laws.
  23. If it is a genuine car then you have a steal. I will not add ABS as an aftermarket thing, even if it is available. 205 section tyres are likely to foul up the wheel arches. The safest way will be to upsize one notch! I will say when you have this beauty do not mess around for the sake of it.

  25. Great. I guess you need it for the video and graphics work you do. Future proofing, forget it, you can only delay the inevitable.
