  1. With all due respect, you have none but yourselves to blame! Who stopped you from having a test drive before buying it? It's a known character of the vehicle and not a defect per se. Hence it would be better if you can sell it off and buy something with a more pliant ride. Endeavour is based on a pick up truck and hence the leaf spring suspension. It's better if Ford replaces this with a better vehicle with proper coil springs, sooner the better since Fortuner is on its way!
  2. Apart from the space and the seats themselves, there is nothing much to write about this ugly looking contraption. Innova looks elegant in comparison to Xylo!!! I definitely doubt if people in urban areas would prefer to have such a lousy piece of """engineering""" as their personal transport. M&M will get decent numbers only because of rural and taxi folks which will make sure that the era of M&M brand is well and truly.... OVER!!!
  3. I guess the mags want Linea to succeed more badly than FIAT themselves!
  4. In petrol, go either for the Getz1.1 or the UVA. And go for a Vista/Palio or CS if it has to be a diesel. On the whole i would suggest go for the Vista Quadrajet. It's contemporary, spacious, comfortable and cheap to run. Swift D would have made a good option too but i don't think it can seat 5 comfortably and also i am not sure how fresh you and your family would be after a 1200 km round trip in a swift. The same applies for i10 and A-Star as well.
  5. This should silence the Hyundai detractors out there! I hope at least now people will wake up and take notice of the giant strides made by this manufacturer.
  6. @Elantraboi, Go ahead with buying your Elantra CRDI. I own one and have done 60K clicks in last 2 years and till date i have had ZERO problems. It has undergone only routine servicing. The car still performs like new, returns good efficiency(not in the league of fiestas and the vernas though.... remember this is a 2L engine and first gen crdi) and is a stonker of a performer. You will be never left wanting in terms of performance and comfort. It's got great high speed stability as well. I am unaware of any reliability issues wrt Elantra. The issues AFAIK were only with the Accent CRDI which had a 3 cyl engine. So if the car in question is a top of the line diesel, then 4 lakhs is a pretty good deal since you know the owner and history of the car.
  7. AFAIK, i30 is produced only as a hatch and a station wagon. There is no saloon version on i30. i30 and Elantra are two different models. I wish they bring in the i30 rather than the elantra. 2009 Sonata will most probably be called i40 in European markets
  8. Going by their track record, following might be the specs of the Skoda's cheap-premium car *600 CC High Torque Petrol with 25 BHP. The "kid" next door having a pulsar will run around the car in circles. *will cost around 3.5-4 Lakhs. But what the heck, it will be the Rolls Royce among small cars and you will buy that for prestige!!!
  9. I think you should also consider the Baleno. It's a god car, decently put together and fairly cheap to run and maintain. Spares will be cheaper than OHC and is almost as reliable as well.
  10. I drove a friend's Fabia 1.2 Classic a week back and i must say i was pretty impressed. Call it High Torque or smart gearing, i didn't feel the power deficit in the city and it can easily touch the 100-110 kmph mark with out letting you feel that there are just 60 czech horses under the hood. And the equipment list was on par for the course with dual airbags, 6CD changer, heated mirrors and more than adequate space. It handled well and high speed ride was good but at low speeds it was a bit stiff. overall i think it's decent value for money.
  11. There IS a fully loaded manual version. If you observe, there are three columns; the first two are manuals and the last one is the automatic. It's a complete let down that they are still offering a 4 speed auto tranny for a 11 lakh car

  13. There is neither ABS nor Airbags!!! Not even as an option What's TATA thinking(if at all it is....)??? Maybe, if we need safety we need to buy their Jag or Land Rover!! EDIT:------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just noticed the placement of door handles inside; think it's too much in front... close to the dash. octane_1002008-08-21 03:08:10
  14. You forgot the Ford TDCi!! For driveablitiy and refinement IMO it still tops other diesels sold here. And it's Chevrolet TCDi octane_1002008-08-20 05:06:22
