  3. First couple of weeks were just getting to know the car better, the usual city drive and a weekend highway drive to a hill station. The car drove well in the city, didn
  4. I was thinking of doing this since I bought my Figo but was unable to do so. Dear friends, just fasten your seat belts and go through 6K plus kms ownership report of a FiGo TDCi Zxi ! I bought my Moondust Silver Ford Figo 1.4 Zxi TDCi on 24.3.2010. I was bowled by the looks, available space in the cabin and the boot, the engine options and the variants at the price offered by Ford. I had booked a 1.4Exi on 10th March but changed it to Zxi after 2 days. I was lucky to have got my car delivered in 2 weeks time (first lot) as now(June2010) it has got a waiting period of 4months !! Soon after taking delivery I have changed the wheels to alloys keeping the same stock Apollo Accelere tyres the car came with. Except the sunfilm on the windows I didn
  5. The spelling is "Asphyxiation" and the word is "ASPHYXIA" means lack of oxygen, or suffocation due to severe or acute lack of oxygen.
  6. Just wanted to know what this micro hybrid thing does by switching off the engine when idle..........is it going to save fuel by any means or going to increase the engine life or if there is anything else ? what is the idea of spending much in the name of technology and achieving little in efficiency, engine life or performance ? I am technically not sound hence please clarify my doubts. Thanks.
  7. The car looks good, seems similar in dimension to the Fusion and with that kind of pricing is very tempting. It should have been on sale right away as march 2010 is 6 months away and after six months the cars do become old nowadays and by that time many more new cars will come up with new E4 engines.
  8. offcourse the first one is the new ford small car !
  9. Lot has been said about the Punto multijet's weaker performance any many wished that it had some more of the power like that of the Linea. Is it possible to add the VGT of Linea to the Punto MJD ? Will that increase the Punto's power to 86ps@4000rpm and torque to 203 Nm @ 2500rpm or the ECU has to be remapped ? If effective then what would be the approximate cost of such an upgrade and will it void the warranty ?
  10. I was talking about petrol engines as a whole and not only Punto. 15000 service intervals for petrol engines is really a very good thing to happen, and oil change @30000kms for the MJD Punto is simply great But the point is that are diesels still and really costly to maintain than the petrols ? Or is it vice versa ?
  11. not a good time to increase price of fiat cars, that is going to ruin everything for the reviving fiat. I don't see many Lineas n Puntos on the road and soon they are going to disappear if the prices are increased. @karanraheja how much is GP sales/month now?
  12. any engines when driven and maintained properly will last long. Just wanted to know which one lasts longer ? modern petrol engines or todays diesel engines, though none might have done more than 2L kms till now, how much does the manufacturers claim ? The MJD in Punto needs servicing every 15000 kms, but the petrols need more frequent servicings, in that case how can the maintenance be costlier in case of a diesel engine?
  13. I was wondering what is the average life of a petrol and a diesel engine? have seen M800 with 1.8lac kms in the odo running without a problem, my alto has done 1.3lac kms and still going strong. Are the diesel engine as good as the petrol engines ? What will be the average life span of the Fiat's 1.3MJD engine ? How is a diesel engine more expensive to maintain than a petrol engine ?
  14. thanks for your replies. @prateeksk Well I can't stretch hence have retracted to punto active / swift ldi, linea is simply too far out of reach @Jitesh have considered all the small diesel cars, I don't like the rear and the small boot and the car seems to be overpriced to about 15K. I have this feeling that since the punto will be serviced by Tata I should not have any problem owning one
  15. Heart says Punto1.3 emotion pack, mind says Swift Vdi abs, bank balance doesn't allow any of these, now the fight is between Punto1.3 active and swift Ldi..........which one to buy ? Don't like about punto is the quality of the interior plastics, door trim, orvm control, rear window wind handle, left foot rest too close to the clutch pedal. Likes bout the Punto are performance(am not a rally driver and a 0-100 enthusiast, rollon figures are good enough), handling, and comfort is quite good, big enough boot space, service interval is 15000kms, spare parts prices are at par or less than the swift's. For swift performance, fuel economy, driving pleasure, and its a Maruti. Dislike the poor handling, braking, and small boot and a very common car on the road. Still have doubt about the A.S.S. of tatafiat, not bothered about the resale value after 5 yrs as it will clock more than 125000kms on the odo.Worried about the maintenance ...... who will visit the workshop more frequently, swift or the punto? What say ?
  16. I unable to decide between the i10 Magna and the Sportz. I like the in dash headunit that comes in the sportz but it doesn't have a front USB and the speakers that comes installed in the doors sounds horrible. The rear wash & wipe and the defogger is not that important for me. With a price difference of 27000, I think I will get a descent music system and also the spoiler if I buy the Magna. Please let me know your opinions.
  17. I was not vectoring in the interest, depreciation and maintenance even then its a petrol car for my kind of running. If we add those factors then its definitely a petrol and not a diesel car. I didn't know that insurance premiums depends on the power: weight ratio or even the color of the car than on the ex showroom price. Is this the usual rule in India now ? I don't agree with rssh, will a 5yr old diesel with more than 60k in the odo demand more resale value than a similar petrol ? I think diesels will pay more visits to the workshop after 50K kms but the petrols will run fine for more than 1lac kms on the odo.
  18. I want to buy a new car, will be driving around 1000kms/month, 70-30 city-highway cycle, and will be using for 5 years at least. Budget 5.2L OTR maximum. Many people with this kind of requirements are unable to decide whether to buy a petrol or a diesel engined car. I have been calculating as below......... Considering a petrol car with a mileage of 13kmpl with ac in the city and 18kmpl in the highway, will be needing about 70lts of petrol every month. Taking average petrol price in 5 yrs at Rs48, total amount spent on fuel in five years will be Rs2,01,600. Same for a diesel car with a mileage of 14kmpl in city and 20kmpl in highway needs 65lts in a month, taking diesel price at Rs35 total fuel cost in 5 yrs will be Rs1,36,500. Hence a diesel car will save around Rs65,000 on fuel in 5yrs Now the price difference between petrol and diesel variants are as follows Ritz Ldi/Lxi - Rs75,000 approx Ritz Vdi/Vxi - Rs80,000 Punto 1.3/1.4 all variants - Rs50,000 Swift - almost same as Ritz From here we can conclude that excess amount spent on buying a diesel car is not recovered with the fuel advantage in 5yrs. So isn't it better to buy a smooth refined petrol engined car than a diesel engined one ? Only diesel car with advantage here is the Punto but its base model crosses 5.5L OTR. With the above observation I will have to opt for a petrol car whose city mileage with ac is 14kmpl or above. Any suggestions?
  19. Is i20 diesel coming this year ? Will hyundai put the verna's crdi into the i20 ? Hopefully this time they will get evrything right and i20 crdi be a success.
  20. The most efficient way would be to keep the hot cold mix at the coolest(bluest), the fan speed to the lowest, recirculate mode and blowing towards the face, after the cabin temperature has come done to a comfortable one.
