  1. Dilip Chhabria is to design and execute India's first supercar. Here's the news coming from IAB: http://indianautosblog.com/2011/12/dc-design-sportscar-30-lakhs?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IndianAutosBlog+%28Indian+Autos+blog%29
  2. Wishing all members a peaceful, healthy and prosperous new year.
  3. This would be one car worth owning, smart looking, compact dimensions, spacious, enough boot space to move house and it's a Maruti. Wonder what sort of wait list this is going to see.
  4. In '99 when I got my Accent I was given a choice and I opted for the annual route and profited. I think the one time tax has been in vogue ever since, didn't you know? Do you have an old car for which you have been paying annual tax?Durango Dude2011-12-25 06:13:54
  5. @BF: It's Canon Powershot SX230HS model you are mentioning. I think you are mentioning different numbers in different posts. Kindly check it out.
  6. @BF: At this range have a 'dekho' at the Nikon S9100. There's a christmas offer on zoomin.com at some 12% off. If interested I shall forward the email. First I suggest you read a few reviews online and also over to sb_alto for his thought's on the suggestion. @sb_alto: My daughter would be thrilled, it was she who shot the pic. http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/nikon_coolpix_s9100_review/ Review of Nikon S9100 from Photography Blog.Durango Dude2011-12-20 18:19:42
  7. The camera of the Nokia N8 never ceases to amaze me.... Pic of my daughter's dessert platter, yesterday, Hyatt Regency, Chennai.Durango Dude2011-12-19 12:26:35
  8. Would one buy a VW for 55L? May be a competent SUV but looks rather dull. It's got no appeal at all and the color is awful. Place it next to an Evoque and the difference are glaring.
  9. Light body+Free revving, refined engine=Honda performance+fuel efficiency. Solid chassis+Underwhelming engines=Fiat performance+fuel efficiency.
  10. GOI has the habit of doing things in reverse. They have to put an effective public transport system in place for the burgeoning population before they enact such draconian laws to curb motoring. The public transport system and roads are totally inadequate. I suggest first all babus/ministers give up their white Amby's/City's/Toyota's and travel by metro and bus to work, first.
  11. After being in India for almost 14 years they are now starting dealerships after winding down their own dealerships. I think Fiat has got it all wrong, but I salute their perseverance and commitment for the market, but have a feeling this isn't going to go very far. As such they have a huge inventory of cars lying around so the Linea production has been stopped. Johnny come lately's like Nissan are doing decent numbers whereas Fiat: maker of the "National Diesel Engine" is frothing to push cars; one word to sum up the whole thing:SAD. More appropriate to call it Fiat Gaffe than Fiat Caffe.
  12. You have enough indications in the Accent eg, Distance to empty and the low fuel warning light. Take these as indications and then tank up. http://tankonempty.com/This site will help but it's at best indicative. After the distance to empty light comes on you can drive an Accent for around 50 kms, that's from my personal experience of having owned one for 6 years. there will roughly 10-15 litr of fuel left in the 45 liter tank for your info: all this from personal experience. Things can change depending on traffic/road conditions.Durango Dude2011-12-08 12:11:31
  13. Ikon's must sell at round Rs.1L or less both those cars are overpriced. I'd suggest a used Maruti hatch, Alto, Wagon R so you will get good resale, mileage and hassle free service.
  14. Mega Pile Up on German Auto Bahn due to foggy low visibility conditions.
  15. Nothing compared to this 52 car pile up on a German autobahn due to poor visibility. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2063645/Three-killed-huge-52-vehicle-crash-German-autobahn-fog.html
  16. Made hilarious reading, indeed. Holland may just have the population of any metro in India. It's easy to govern and regulate. When the population reaches something like 1.2 billion, even the smallest task can become rather arduous. I was grumbling when I was doing the immigration check between Shenzhen (China) and Hong Kong that they should learn from the Thirumala (TTD) 'Q' complex as to how to manage crowds.
  17. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/108814-new-maruti-swift-zdi-stalled-thrice-within-30-days-update-car-replaced.html hope this works. There's an issue with the brakes as well. follow the link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/109312-attention-new-maruti-suzuki-swift-brake-issue.htmlDurango Dude2011-12-05 10:16:47
  18. MSIL has replaced a new Swift ZDI which was found to be a lemon: to read more follow the link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/108814-new-maruti-swift-zdi-stalled-thrice-within-30-days-update-car-replaced.html. By doing this they may have set a precedent, I think.
  19. To top it the new Civic has been poorly received in the US. My doubt's as to whether it will make it here. CEO of Honda takes responsibility for that: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/02/honda-ceo-takes-responsibility-for-poor-reception-of-redesigned/Durango Dude2011-12-05 06:42:36
  20. @sb_alto: I used to do this in my M800; but it was far easier than what you do, I had a slot which allowed removal of the HU for safe keeping, after that the rest was child's play. In my Elantra I have never done this and CD's are playing quiet clear and its the cassette's that sound off color after some 6 years (who uses cassete's these days), what I sorely miss is an AUX/USB in port, the FM transmitter is better avoided (the Cell phones FM transmitter or the stand alone) they sound crude.Durango Dude2011-12-05 06:18:51
  21. Don't worry ACI will take care of the topic and clicks to which members can contribute and discuss. We haven't heard from A Sethi in some time, he's sure to be there.
  22. @BF: Have you TDed the Punto? I think had you posted the same on TBHP you would have 'tonnes' of support, I half the guys who buy Fiat hangout there. I think if you get a good deal and if the After Sales support is decent,in your part of the country, then go for it. I'd say that you also have a look at the Fabia too as it's got some good deals going and between Fiat and Skoda the After Sales is going to be 'hit' ya 'miss', at least with Fabia you'll get more space and premium feel interior's. I completely agree with sb_alto about the bottoming out on the Figo with full load and lack of premium feel interior's even on the top end and the plum coloured dash is absolute put off. Sensible choices would be the Swift (waitlisted) or Ritz (off the shelf).I know you don't like Hyundai so have completely deleted the i20 from the list. Absolutely, agree with Rahul, that you should wait till the Auto Expo to throw up some fresh surprises and then decide; something like an upgraded diesel engine for the Polo and Fabia.Durango Dude2011-12-05 06:09:07
  23. To all those visit, kindly carry a good camera and give us an update. ACI would do the job but good to see forum members also contributing.
