  1. @rssh, i'll paya visit to the dealer tmr, will definately tell him to check th egear knob. and in case they ask me to change, will it be chargeable or it will be covered under waranty?
  2. @RKNG-i did as you suggested me to do, but the sound stil comes out (sometimes though). any idea what could have been wrong, is there a problem with my gear box?
  3. you are right rssh, the reverse gear didn't literally got engaged, ofcourse there is was a sound when my dad accidently pressed the gear knob into reverse gear grid, as i said on realising he corrected himself. i hope i am clear with my query here......any comments and suggestions plz?
  4. @sudeep- the sound is somewhat similar to what comes when the gear shift is not smooth n u get a feeling like something is getting in the way while making the shift, you need to put a liitle effort to push it in the reverse gear. PS-whole of this thing is experienced sometimes and not always.
  5. guys i am facing a problem with my car (i10); when i put reverse gear there is some creeking sound. i went to the dealer and he said press the clutch to the floor and you won't hear the sound. he also loosened up the clutch, but the problem hasn't been solved. act couple of weeks back my father accidently missed the 4th gear and went to the reverse gear on the move, but on realising he corrected himself.could this be the source of problem? what should i do?
  6. as per the comparo between the two,on papers and performance skoda have a slight edge over the japenese rival but on engine refinement accord still leads. also ASS of honda is way much better than skoda which probably is going to get a boost as per the comments given by fellow member SP1916. as per the price, honda has adapted a BAD HABBIT of charging a premium on there products and skoda has learned the same hard way just beause there brand value is a step lower than the Japs brand, so probably that makes Laura 1.8 TSI a better VFM.
  7. i actually liked the car as whole, specially the bike inspired speedo meter. i hope GM package it well for india with a good engine and price. DnDs2009-07-03 11:16:21
  8. @sgiitk-i20 doesn't come with an automatic trans....and i10's auto gear box is not that bad...or is it?
  9. car looks great man, seems it just fited in your driveway.BTW it looks great in black though i liked red the most. njoy your ride.
  10. launching swift sports/glam with a 1.6lt engine with a fine set of alloys and a few of accessories like body kit, TWIN Exhausts, etc. could have been a wrigth move to play.
  11. are they getting the car here as CBU or CKD?
  12. well i have i10 kappa and i am not facing any fuel effciency problems with my car, i am getting 14.5kmpl with 100% AC on(that too before the first service). What more are you expecting? there are always a case out so many cars sold, one od car manufatures has some defects which can cause the efficiency to drop, but that doesn;t mean the car in general is not an efficient car to run. No offence but KINDLY refrain yourself from commenting such comments. regards DnDs

    Car ergonomics

as per your list, i10 sports has c. Seat Position: It should be adjustable. D. Steering tilt:F: Auto Transmission as you don't have to bend to front again and again. (Not must but very helpful) as far as lumbar disc support on seat is concerned i cannot confirm. having said that , i suggested you i10 only because of it offers auto trans, other aspects are subjective to yout personal comfort. so the best way to judge is by having a LONG TD. If you find i10 uncomfortable then choose among the manual trans cars. P.S. auto trans is actually very important for people having disc problems, even doctors tell you to refrain from driving and riding two wheelers.
  14. as everyone has mentioned, DON'T use clutch while braking: -it wears off the clutch plates -increase the braking distance. so for more efficient braking, use clutch when the engine is about to stall.

with your kind of budget, i don't think fabia fits in. Also as you have mentioned you are suffering from slip disk, i would recommend you to go for automatic transmission. there are few choices in your budget that you can go for: 1.i10 2.santro 3.wangonR. Personal suggestion:go fo i10, it is the only car woth 4speed auto trans.
  16. nice choice.don't worry you are buying the best in the market. certainly you won't repend. congratulations
  17. i enquired from the dealer near my place, and asked him how many swift petrol they sell compared to diesel, his reply was ot of every 100 swifts 80-85 are diesel. on asking him why there is a waiting period of swift petro then....hey gave a very wage answers...something which wasn't relevant with the conversation. This a move to step up the petrol sales of swift....but i think MS has really bad taste when it compes to interiors of the car. still i don't understand why there is a waiting period of petrol version of this car. @ swiftvxi06, do have any details about the pricing of the car?
  18. they should have kept the upper portion of dash board black...as of now it is looking more of like "odd one out". any info on its pricing?
  19. 3 speed auto for WagonR is still available but only on demand...still check it woth your dealer. but i will not recommend you WagonR....hyundai's automatic transmission is the best available in its sengment, so i would preffer you Santro(if you are too much concerned about efficience). i10(for more pleasurable drive due to its 4 speed trans) if you go more on highways. Still expect almost same mielage in city drive, also as Lust for Merc has said, mielage is subjective to your driving style. P.S. i10's auto trans is caried forward from that of santro, its jsut tuned up for 4 speed auto trans.
  20. only if skoda phases out the existing 1.2 lt and re launch 1.4lt engine without changing the price(due to increases in localosation). else i think its an effort which will bore them no fruits.
  21. Hi chawla! reagrding your questions of Hyndai's A.S.S., as of now there are more than 3-4 dealerships in major cities of hyundai and atleast 2 dealerships in come of the small cities across india....as far as your city is concerned, there are around 4-5 i guess. but having said that, maruti is a market leader in terms of services as they have widest of the networks. But still i will say that you don't refrain yourself from buying hyundai because of after sales services. They offer pretty good services. regarding pricing of spares, bluesapphire has made an absolutely right comment here. Maruti's quality has been of concerned from the very begining, even in there most expensive car, GRAND VITARA, people complain of Rattling, whereas 6 years onld santro wont give such rattle as a swift does after 2-3 years. So what you will be paying is definately going to pay you of with peace from rattling and build quality. Regards DnDs
  22. hi chawla! some time back i had similar dilema over this very question.but eventually i bought hyundai i10. Space wise: ritz has more, but its mainly because of its head room(tall boy).though i10 has sufficient head room but it cannot be called a car with tall boy design. efficiency: both cars have somewhat similar fuel consumption, so don't bother much over it. and specially if you are driving mainly in city, expect almost similar mielage from cars across different segments.i am getting around 14.5kmpl with AC. comfort: i haven't driven ritzm but i10 has got very comfortable seats, but for a long drives its not that great....i guess ritz scores more here....stilll can't comment as i haven't driven it. build quality: forget about i10 or ritz....hyundai always scores more than maruti here....rather maruti has always been lacking in this area....this was one of the reason why i went for i10 over the other cars that i considered. quality of plastics: this is the one of te USP of i10, it has got the best interiors in the segment though ritz i claimed to have the best interiors what maruti has offered so far, but still it can't beat i10 here. Features:they are somewhat same, so you just check and compare which one appeals you more. happy shoping reagrds DnDs
  23. @rssh- well i didn't ask him about the life time of the tints, will do that the nest time. @nicesachin- the difference in more expensive tints is that they reflect more sun-rays in terms of percentage. for eg: the one i bought is 30% reflector the one costing 2500 was 40-50% reflector. So more the cost more will be the reflector percentage. Also it highly depends on the way these sunfilms are put on. if the job done is good, then the film wont come out soon. personal suggestion- go for certified tints as they give you peace of mind when you take your car to other states where there are different rules regarding transparency. regards DnDs
  24. thank you rssh. i enquired about the kind of brands available in the market, and the shopkeeper told me that there are three gareware brands he has pricing650,1500 and 3500. i'm opting for the 650 one and also he'll be providing me with the certificate so that i can take the car anywhere in india without any hasles. cheers regards DnDs
