  1. A little update from my side. I finally took the plunge and booked a Silver Laura 1.8 TSI. I will be getting the car delivered tomorrow. I am hoping to run the car on either 97 RON or 95 RON. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find it in Blore. I have heard that anything less than 95 RON is not good for the engine. The ECU senses lower RON and does not enter the Fuel Stratified mode. This reduces the milage and performance.
  2. I am getting a corporate discount of 50k on the Laura TSI.
  3. Thanks a lot for the pics! Waiting for the second set of pictures. Do you have any of the Laura on track?
  4. I was in a similar situation sometime back. I was waiting for the new civic to get launched before deciding between the altis and civic. Then one of my friends suggested?I test drive the Laura. I was immediately smitted by the engine. Its has direct pertol injection, which is supposed to be the most fuel efficient technology. The engine is extremely refined and its got 250Nm torque from a rediculously?low?1500rpm. Plus its got 160 horses?from 4500rpm all the way to 6200rpm. The acceleration is?phenominal, it litreally pins you?back into?the seat.? ? You should definitely test drive the Laura 1.8TSI before deciding on the other options. The petrol variant of the cruze may take a while to get launched. Sometime in Feb next year.CYRUS432009-09-11 17:38:18
  5. @insane I'm from bangalore. I like the black colour but its a strict no no at home. Both the dealers in blore dont have the cappuchino beige colour in stock. They are saying the waiting period is around 1 month. The silver is available and can be delivered in 6days. Planning to book the car on Monday. Please send me the pics of your car, would like to see how it looks with the 17" Alloys!!
  6. @insane Can you put up some pics of your car? Thanks!
  7. @insane Maybe I should run it on the stock wheels for a while and then go in for an upgrade. Which colour is your car? I am deciding between the cappuchino beige and the silver. @sgiitk & subzero Yes, It would be difficult to expect anything greater than 8kmpl from a turbo charged petrol engine. The six speed gear box should help help in highway fuel effiency. I suppose Xtra Premium would be the best trade off between cost and RON.
  8. @insane79 Thanks for the details. I am also contemplating upsizing the alloys and going in for low profile tyres. How much did the setup cost? Did you get it done at the dealer? I would love to see a pcitures of your car.
  9. @insane: What is the current milage that you are getting in city and highway driving? I am also planning to buy the Laura TSI, my only concern is milage. Thanks.
  10. I have been planning to buy a car for a while now. Initially I was deciding between the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda Civic. Then I heard about a refreshed civic being launched so I decided to wait. I was hoping that Honda would add a few goodies and the civic would be at least on par with the Altis, feature wise. In the meanwhile my friend suggested I test drive the new Laura 1.8TSI. I was extremely impressed with the engine. It was very refined and didn't break into a sweat even with speeds in excess of 180Kmph. The steering feedback was very reassuring and the car felt planted. I was instantly in love with the car. I am planning to book the car shortly and get delivery by the end of the month. I have a couple of questions and hopefully the knowledgeable sirs will be able to help. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 1. While driving in city traffic the car stalled a couple of times while crawling at 10kmph in second gear. It requires you to shift to 1st even when the car is above 10kmph. I have never experienced this in any other car. This has been reported in one of the magazines. Is this a known problem or is it related to the fuel quality. 2. I have read a lot of horror stories about Skoda a.s.s. however I am hoping things will change. Which is the better dealer in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Bangalore, Tafe Access or Vinayak Auto? 3. What is the fuel efficiency I can expect in city and highway driving?
  11. I hope they relaunch the SMT version. The VMT would make me stretch my budget..
  12. I suppose the sales of Altis is more than Civic because of the VFM factor and the fact that a Facelift Civic is around the corner.
  13. Is there any information on the release date? Also are there any changes to the rear suspension?
  14. I test drove the Laura 1.8TSI recently. What a gem of an engine that is! It accelerated effortlessly and the engine never felt stressed even till the redline. Even before I realised the car was doing 185kmph. Immediately after that I test drove the civic. Even with 132ps of power it didnt compare with the TSI. So I guess the more power we get, the more we want.
