  1. i20 is definitely a fine choice but you should be open to other options as well. considering only the hatchbacks , take a test drive of both polo and figo . Both are well sorted out cars . figo offers you a lot of features which are not available even in an i20 and at a much lower price. polo is again a very good car in practicality. It is solid built and a true german battletank. Build quality is top class and koreans just cant come close to that. Also try out Ford fiesta or Dzire if you are very keen for a sedan.
  2. let us leave this matter to be discussed when micra arrives in our market....
  3. rahul1810@ I agree with you on this that the Hondas i-vtec unit is in a complete different leaue altogether. comparing it with that of hyundais 1.2 kappa is a anyways no-match. In between Aqua@ same reply to you. It is a known fact that i-vtec is one of the finest engines available today and are a notch above either the 1.2 kappa or even the k-series. You could also find i20 being termed lathargic by many magazines.
  4. I don't think that VW has left any stone unturned in making it's run, here in India, a grand-success, which is very evident from the pricing of the newly launched POLO. So, it's time to see whether VW provides a equally good after-sales-service experience, as that of it's products.
  5. It's really good to hear that brands like ford and GM are gradually picking sales in the mass Indian market with their newest offerings i.e. figo and beat. VW...come on...it's time that Indian buyers should realize the true meaning of automotive engineering of which VW is a very renowned and glorious example as all other German marques....
  6. anshuman you got it right.. I referred to this link only before posting my comments earlier. Apart from that, nobody on this holy Earth could deny and argue with the laws of physics. Now, what I meant to say is that i20 has the same 1.2 puny kappa unit doing the duty as in the much smaller and moreover lighter car, with whatsoever no tuning being done to it's ECU module, thereby putting out same output figures. This translates into the fact that i20,being considerably more heavier is a slouch when compared to a swift or even it's own stablemate i10. Hence, a lot more amount of work is needed to be done by the engine to keep everything running. Here comes the key aspect, which is the AC unit. So, going by the facts, the same engine is running the wheels of a much heavier vehicle and the very same compressor unit being working to cool-off more roomier interiors. Thereby making the car a slouch. However, things would be better up in the diesel version. With the things shared above, I would just like to quote the very famous lines " Appearances are often Deceptive"..
  7. I strongly feel that Skoda as a brand is known for making utterly solid and well-built cars, which is actually true. Now,the thing is that the cars which are constructed outside India are having a completely different vendor base, which is very obvious. As for India, many parts are being supplied by local suppliers, which IMO are not maintaining a strict Quality-check on their supplies which in-turn is affecting the overall quality of the car, and hence the customers of such a Premium brand are facing niggling problems. This issue should be taken-in very seriously by Skoda-india,if it really intends to have a fortune-run here. As the number of dissatisfied customers are increasing, future does not seem to be very bright, if corrective measures are not taken immediately.
  8. hey, I think it's not really wise to go in for i20 at this point of time as multiple users are facing problems with it's air-conditioning unit. Many have claimed that it feels like there is no AC in the car and only blower is being running. In between you could try out the newly launched ford figo, which is clocking impressive numbers. Figo as a car is the best VFM package available today in the market, has loads of features, and great mileage for a diesel/petrol. It's AC unit is one of the best systems available as Ford has used a 154cc compressor motor to do the job. Don't take my word for it. Just go and have a TD to get a feel of things.....
  9. I think it's between figo and polo as both have arrived at the same time in the market. Swift and the likes are quite here fro some time now and is due for a complete revamp. Punto is a well-built machine but comes for a price and the dubious fiat's image which greatly affects the resale of the vehicle. So, basically the safest and most VFM bet here is the ford figo. People who can spend and are truly obsessed with the solid ride and brand image of a VW, could try out polo.
  10. hello latesh, At the mentioned budget you could also look at the ford figo. This is the latest machine in industry and promises to be the most VFM car in the segment. It has got features which are not on offer in some more expensive cars. FE is also brilliant for a diesel and would be decent enough for the petrol. just get a TD of the vehicle. It is far better than the likes of i10,swift,wagon-r or even a punto or an i20, when considered one on one in terms of features offered and the on-road price of the cars..
  11. Just close your eyes and go for the figo diesel exi variant which has got all the creature comforts of a premium hatch and more.. 1) punto : a very good all-rounder with good ride/handling combo, typical of italian cars. Fiat's a.s.s is improving but has still got to makeover it's image to improve the resale value of it's products which is really not something to talk about. 2) ritz/swift : Swift is a good overall package but is quite olsd now and is due for a change. As for the ritz the ride /handling combination of Japanese cars are not even near a match with the American/German rivals. So.Ritz is out of question. 3) Polo : fantastic car, superb ride and handling tune, actually ride of polo is plusher than that of Honda city but there is a price for that. Spares would also be on the expensive side. 4) i20 : A good car with really nice looks and build, but has got serious issues with it's AC. There are multiple complaints of the same. Now, Ford has put one of the best AC's in figo which is because it's compressor is 154cc, whereas other cars of this segment have only 80/90 cc compressors. As the facts go by, figo boasts of features which could put some of the higher strata cars to shame. To name a few, the stereo unit on offer has got bluetooth connectivity(ie. it could read your enitre phonebook, messages, recieve and make calls and could also stream music which works fantastically). Apart from that, figo is the latest kid on the block with an unbeatable VFM proposition, decent a.s.s which ford india is trying hard to improve and will achieve it and loads of features to top it all..!!! So, IMO going by the current state of affairs and bookings of figo, it seems ford has got a winner..
  12. Hi to everyone.. @bluesaphire : first of all, I completely agree with you on all counts except one which is that figo has too less features when compared to punto since it is the cheaper of the two. As the facts go by, figo boasts of features which could put some of the higher strata cars to shame. To name a few, the stereo unit on offer has got bluetooth connectivity(ie. it could read your enitre phonebook, messages, recieve and make calls and could also stream music which works fantastically). 13. hello preeks, Few days back I took my friend's i10 to pondicherry from chennai. I got an overall efficiency of 16kmpl with 90% time AC on, 5 people on board, and the drive was 300 km to-and-fro including around 60km of city ride. I think dat's a pretty good figure considering the car was relatively new with around 17k's on odo, which means it has just completed it's run-in period. I drove rather moderately, ie. with an avg speed of 90km/hr. I have got a feeling that you are riding clutch while driving. If you are into that habbit, improving on that will let you really get those FE figures increase considerably..
