  2. Hi, your requirements : Safety - High. ABS, airbags important!!! Prime requirement - Ride/ Handling/FE/Braking/Looks/AfSS/Passenger Comfort Your prime requirement says ride/handling and passenger comfort.I think VW Polo highline would completely satisfy your needs. It is a German car and hence built is ahead of the Korean counterparts. You can feel it from the time you open the heavily built doors of Polo as compared to any other car of the same class. Engine offers decent performance and mileage upwards of 16 Kmpl in diesel form. Ride is better than the rest and the feeling of confidence at high speeds is terrific. Your location says Bangalore and hence you will not be troubled in getting the car serviced.
  3. hi, Given your requirements, I would go in for Ford fiesta classic. It is the most fun to drive of the lot, is comfortable and parts are reasonably priced too. Ford's in India used to be expensive few years ago, but the spare prices have reduced a lot over the past five years with local manufacturing. Nissan sunny is also a good buy. It is modern, has the longest wheelbase but after sales service could be an issue with the limited dealer network. Fabia has the brilliant ride comfort but spares could be expensive. Posts Merged.
  4. hi, I didn't get exactly what are you referring to? can you please elaborate?
  5. I agree with you on the grill part of the Ikon. Yes, mine has been maintained very-well over the years. It has been more than 7 yrs. now and it still drives like a dream. People have this notion that Ford vehicles are expensive to run and keep. The idea was true, till a few years ago, but now with greater localization and child-part strategy, cost of spares have fallen down drastically and is in line with Hyundai and Marutis.

  7. hey all, It's been long since I have updated this report. I think some of the posts got deleted. Mods, please check.
  8. Hi, I would ask you the same : Please provide little more details in order to get a precise shortlist. Anyways, from the given options, you could very well wait for the upcoming Captiva, new Ford slated to be coming soon, or even the established players like Mitsubishi's Outlander or the latest koleos.
  9. Thanks for the acknowledgement. You have heard it correct. High air-pressure will surely give better FE figures and make handling more precise, but at the pretext of ride-comfort and safety. A little high pressure could be maintained in city use.
  10. Very true. This was the only way left to clear up the stock and make way for upcoming launch of Brio. Honda, however has cleared that this discount is offered by the dealer end, and not by Honda. So, it translates into the fact that honda dealers are working hard to get rid of their inventories before Brio make it's entry, as it will further deter the buyer of Jazz and make him go in for Brio.
  11. If you have made-up your mind on that, then for the hatchbacks : 1.) VW Polo : It makes up most sense. The product is very-well built, rides best and offers decent diesel economy. 2.) Skoda Fabia : This is another equally well-built car and is now even more attractive due to the Skoda Celebrations going on.This deal could be a steal. 3.) Hyundai i20 : Again a great car. It is not so well put together as their German counterparts, but still is good enough. Ride and handling are OK but safety is top-notch.
  12. You can choose from either of the above mentioned ones. They all offer quality products. You can get a Blaupunkt, sony, kenwood or pioneer head unit. The speakers can be from the same manufacturers depending on their prices. In speakers JBL, Blaupunkt, Rockford are the best in the industry but are expensive at the same time. First get a good head unit which satisfies your requirements and then go in for speakers.
  13. hi, On highways, IMO, the tyre pressure should be kept 1psi lower because : 1.) On highways, due to prolonged driving, tyres and the air inside becomes hot and expands. This would inflate the tyre by some degree. If the tyre is already over-inflated, it could lead to a tyre-burst. 2.) If the pressure is a little lower, vehicle would move with more stability and won't wobble as with higher air-pressure tyres.
  14. hey, Congrats on your new ride. Do post some pics and an initial ownership experience. Regarding your query, you can easily get a Blaupunkt ICE in 10,000.It is one of the best. Get one with the USB/AUX-in support.
  15. hi, Your first query got a very satisfying end in the form of ANHC with Autobox, and is the best of the lot given your particular requirements. Now,coming to your second query, I would say : 1.) i20 is a good car for city use and occasional highway runs. In your case, as you are doing primarily highway runs, a sedan becomes the safest bet. I think you should go in for a three-box car rather than a hatch. 2.) In sedans, you can consider : a.) Hyundai verna : A great diesel car, but is slightly out of budget. If you can stretch that much, I think it is worth it. b.)Fiat Linea : As you have owned a Fiat, you are very-well aware of the A.S.S provided, though they have improved a lot. Diesel variant would fit in your budget and product itself is great, save for some niggling issues, the ride and handling is best of the lot. c.) SX4 diesel : This version of SX4 is helping to sell in decent numbers. The product is quite old and is due for replacement, otherwise has proven engine and mechanicals, backed-up with ubiquitous Maruti support. d.) If you are going to purchase during the festive season, you can easily have a look at the New Ford Fiesta/,which is just round the corner (actually coming on 14th july). However, the pricing is to be seen.
  16. hi sathya, welcome to ACI forum. I am sure your journey here will enrich mutual knowledge of all.
  17. hi, Among the two cars you have mentioned, you yourself have made the correct distinctions. Vento stands for German engineering and solidity, while verna is the latest machine with great looks and loads of features. Upto you to decide what works for you..
  18. Hi, Given your budget and priorities : I think you should try going in for a sedan. The options include : 1.) VW vento : You won't get the highline at the specified budget, but still the car has a brilliant ride and is safest of the lot. 2.) Fiat Linea : Very-well built and has a great ride-handling combo. Falls in budget too. 3.) You could seriously wait for both the New Ford Fiesta and Hyundai RB saloon, which are just round the corner. Both the machines are latest in their design and has upgraded engines.
  19. Hey nfs123, Congrats on your latest acquisition. Cruze looks fantastic in White and has enormous road-presence. Good pics. Enjoy the Ride!!!
  20. Hi, Given your requirements of performance as well as efficiency I think : It should be a powerful diesel sedan. The options are: 1.) BMW-320d CE. It fits the bill, performs good and handling is best of the lot. 2.) BMW X1 : Again good diesel performance as well as FE. 3.) VW Passat : Has reasonable performance for an auto-box. Still, there's a sports mode, which could move you enthusiastically if you like. It also boasts of some latest gizmos like park-assist, air-conditioned seats and the like. But, if performance is really that matters to you most, nothing comes close to the 3-series. ( except Accord as it is a petrol unit, and fuel bills would be stupendous)
  21. Happy lohri to all our forum members...enjoy.!!!!rahulgupta31012011-01-13 16:29:45
