  1. Posting after a long time. My Verito has done 18000> and is still going strong. What I wrote earlier stands good. The car is good and FE is very good (At 46 degree outside, with full AC on, average is more than 21 Km/Ltr. Otherwise about 25 to 27 Km/Ltr) Not bad at all. The engine is a bit under powered, but I drive easy, no hurry on the road as I do not want to meet my maker before time. After 2000rpm, the car shows its teeth. Well, I tried upto 120 Km/Hr and there was no problem. At lower speeds, the car seems slow and overtaking is difficult, but after 100 Km/hr, no problem. Funny thing is this: When top speed limit is 90 Km/hr, then why to speed up. I have seen lots of accidents due to over speeding.

Well those who want a good, comfortable, economical and hardy car, Verito get the first place in its segment. Happy driving.

  2. Thanks. I am collecting relevant material from all knjown sources for the manual and I would like to send the draft to persons like you who are keen motorists for suggestions and comments. I wish that people will save fuel even if they are billionairs. After all oil is national property and we have to be careful how much we use and how much we waste. Hope you also agree with me.

  3. Thanks for the comment. Yes, the average is real good. I try to avoid excessive braking and drive at a moderate speed. If we all follow some basic principles of driving, we will get good average as well as peace of mind. Incidently, I have asked by a number of my friends to write a small book on Car Care. So I will be publishing a very practical manual entitled "Car Care Manual". I hope, even the experts will derive benefit from it.

Now about the photos. I have posted photos of my Verito at http://mahindralogan.forumotion.com/t814-at-last-photos-of-my-verito-d4-with-love-from-shimla. Kindly do visit and let me have your opinion. I will be posting some new photos soon. The car is three months old and has done about 4000 Kilometers.

When I go out on my lecture tour, I test the capacity of this car (not speed). And I always find that Verito is a good and economical family car. For me, looks are of no consequence. It is the safety and performance alongwith comfort, which are most important. Good Luck.

  4. Good to be back again. Immediately after purchasing my Verito, I installed a parking cam from Xenos as I am also not a very good parking expert. The camera helped somewhat but still I was not very confident while parking my car. So I am going in for sensors as well. I usually get the help of someone when I park the car as a friend is more useful than all the cams and sensors. I wish the car companies could find some viable solution to the problem of parking of sedans.

  5. Nice discussion. Here is my experience with Nilfisk Power Wash marketed by Eureka Forbes. The machine is very compact and veru efficient. Maximum pressure is 100Bar which is more than enough. This machine comes with in-line filter, a Tornado Nozzle for washing under carriage, a Powerspeed nozzle for washing the body, Foam Sprayer etc. I am using this machine every week to wash my two cars and the results are excellent. The pressure is good and the car is washed and cleaned in no time. One has to be careful with Tornado Nozzle as the pressure is extreme and one can cut one's fingers. This nozzle is not to be used for wasing the painted surface as it will damage the paint. Eureka people are good in arranging demonstration and after sales service.

I also use the machine for cleaning outer walls of mu house to remove dirt and other dirt. One has to take good care of this machine after use and store it peoperly. Good investment.

  6. Friends. I am happy that a number of readers of this forum and other have been soliciting my advice for buying Verito. Well! I tried to tender sane and objective suggestions and many have bought Verito. Good luck to them and congratulations.

Here is my latest experience with Verito. Four days ago, I travelled a distance of 600 kilometers in my Verito D4. I passed through hill track (180 Kilometers), very bad roads of Himachal and Uttarakhand (about 70 kilometers) and rest on good highways. The car gave no problem at all and absorbed the potholes very efficiently. The average consumption of fuel came out to be 24.50 Kms/litre which is real good keeping in view the condition of the roads. I do not push the car to its limits and drive with a moderate velocity of 70 to 80 Kms/ hour. The speed limit on National Highways is 90 Kms/hour. There is some logic behind it. There is no fun in driving like a mad man being chased by a demon. Driving should be fun and an enjoyable experience. As I have said in one of my posts and all of us know very well, high speed even on Freeways does not give any significant advantage in terms of time and fuel savings. But high speed driving increases our stress level and blood pressure leading to wrong judgement (latest unfortunate case of son of Mr. Azharudin) . So drive at a moderate speed and stay healthy.

  7. Dear rameshbabu.n. Thanks for the nice words. Yes, this car is a good car and as I have stated in my earlier posts, I tried many good cars by other reputed companies, but then this car stole my heart. It fulfilled many criteria and I hope with Mahindra's good service and help, I will definitely have a good time with it. I also had talks with other Logan owners and all of them were fully satisfied with the performance of this car. Verito is a bit more handsome than Logan and interiors are also good. What about your Xylo as I may buy one next year for family outings. Have a niceday. (I visited Tirupati twice lone long ago. God's place. You are lucky).

  8. I could not go out for snapping some good photographs of the car Verito as the weather is terrible here in Shimla. But tomorrow I have decided to go out upto Chandigarh (provided there are no land slides on Shimla-Kalka Highway). Let us see what God has kept for me in store.

I am going to order Wireless Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, for Rs.6000.00 each set, which is a good device found in high end vehicles. I saw one factory installed in Scorpio. I am going to install TPMS in both my cars and post my observations.

Pressure in my car after filling Nitrogen remained constant after more than 2 weeks.

The reverse camera is not all that useful, but with sensors, parking will be easier.

  9. Dear TSiVipul. Thanks for the praises. I Am happy that you have conferred on me the tilte Verito Man. And I am going to use it. In case M&M wants use my services, it will be nice. Now I can bring my Verito to your home provided you just let me have your address (But not beyond Delhi). I will be happy to meet you and take you on a drive (slow one). Get well soon.

  10. Dar TSiVipul. Thanks a lot for your regular comments. I am happy that you like my observations. I try to be objective so that readers may get an honest idea. Thanks again. Yes, I am going to snap a series of photographs of Verito along with a brief video and post here. But kindly let me know how to place photos and video here on this thread.

You better come here so that we may drive and have a nice time. Even at this age, I drive a lot. I have a travel bug and for the last 35 years, I have been roaming and roaming. This is most educative provided driving has some definite objective. I take my GPS, all my camera gear, refreshment etc. and I look out for interesting happenings on the road. I make friends with truck drivers, and others on the roads, even policemen and other strangers. I have this gift. For me friendship is more important than money. What do you say?

I will start a new thread on my favourate subject: Stress and Tension Management (I am an expert in these fields and help Indian Army and Police). I drive without any stress and tension and when I reach my destination after driving for many hours, I am almost fresh and ready to drive again. Youngmen travelling with me feel tired. This is due to my training in managing stress, not only on roads, but also in life. And I am happy to note that I have able to help tens of thousands of persons. Hope you will like the idea. Driving should be fun and not stain on our nerves and nerves of other road users.

    Have a good day.

  11. Dear dr_nishu. Many thanks for the nice words. At the outset I am unhappy that you came to Shimla but did not call me. Now dear sir, when ever you come do let me know. I live in a very nice place, Jatog Cantt. Yes, here are my numbers: 0177-2838156, 093185-33276 (HP), 098969-65937 (Haryana). email:drkeshav@sreit.org. I will be happy to meet you and discuss. I never left Shimla for all the money in the world. I left US in 1984 for Shimla for good. Shimla has become a not that clean and calm place as it was in 50s when I was a child. Still it is better than other cities. It is cold here and raining.

I wanted to snap a number of photographs of Verito but due to rains, I could not go out. Today I have decided to move out and photograph the car. Incidently photography is my hobby and I do it professionally as well. I will post photos along with the details of the places where the photogarphs are taken.

Yes, service is not a problem here in Shimla as there is a good famous dealer of Mahindra here and these people are nice. After sale service is the main consideration for me when I buy a car or a PC or Laptop or any other device.

For Samosa, my favourate place is Alfa on the Mall. I have been visiting this place for the last 30 years and I take my guests there for a treat. So when you come next time, we will go there and enjoy jumbo Samosa there.

I am preparing for the proposed fun rally of Logan and Verito. But I feel that other friends should also be included to participate. It will not be a Himalayan type rally, but a brief stint on busy roads. It will more of a fun to provide a meeting place to all of us. I am contacting M&M people for sponsorship. What do you say?

    May God bless you.

  12. Thanks Tejasmehta ji. I am happy that you also share my views. Need and price will determine our purchases not only of a car but perhaps evrything needed by us. We have to discriminate between need and desire. My Guru used to say "Fulfil your needs but not your desires". This is absolutely correct. Many a time people buy things which are never needed by them. They get them just for the sake of buying as they have spare cash. I hope the prospective buyers of cars will definitely derive some benefit from the discussion on this thread and take some sane decisions.

UNO was a real good car. One my fellow professors had it. And at that time I also wished for such a big car. But then I bought Alto. Looks of Verito will not win world beauty contest but handsome is he who handsome does. This car serves all my needs. Beauty lies in the eyes of beholders. Laila was dark, but in the eyes of Kais (Majnu) she was the most beautiful girl. I do not find ugliness in Verito. M&M has done done some small modifications. Fr space, some aerodynamics was ignored.

Linea is a very good looking car, but three adults cannot sit comfortably in the back. There is no fun of buying a car if we are uncomfortable.

Thanks again. Have a nice day. Shimla is wet and cold and I want to take Verito and paint the city RED. I am using room heater. Unbelievable.

  13. Dear Arun. Thanks for the response. I am happy that you are also one of those very few persons who truely understand the nature of cosmos. Nothing is inanimate. Everything has life. I am not a young person (body wise) and have three blockages in my heart. My doctor has advised me not even to sit in the front seat, what to talk of driving. But I drive, about 25000 Kilometers a year. And after a long drive my elder son becomes a bit tired but I am ready to drive again. How is this possible? Because I love my car and know it is alive. And I handover the charge of car and my body to my great guru, who is my driver. Well believe it or not, this is the truth.

Well if all of us who drive vehicles day in and day out and face stress and tension on the road, understand the nature of things and depend upon the divine consciousness, there will be no problem, no stress and the car as well as their lives will have a smooth drive. This is something which is beyond the comprehension of an ordinary person. But someday, most of us will realise it.

A car is for convenience and not for terrorising people on the road. A car is not a symbol of status, it is a means to some definite end. Young people have to realise that it is your character which matters and not the length of the car and their inflated ego. How one drives, is a very good measure of one's family background and character. Life is short, we are not to make it shorter by any measure.

Thanks a lot and kindly do post your opinion. For me hints of driving are not as important as how to be a good human being.

  14. I am reminded of my great teachers from whom I learnt the art of being humble and to be a learner throughout life. What I am writing is equally relevant to all the readers of this forum too.

My professor of Research ,Methodology, Prof. M.Verma (younger brother of famous Hindi poetess Mahadevi Verma). In 1973, he was staying in a room adjoining my room in H.P. University and I was given the assignment to look after him. He was 65 at that time. A great researcher and a great psychometrician. Once he asked me to play Sitar for him (I am a disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Ravi Shankar). After my performance was over, he started asking questions on Music and Sitar like a child. I was hesitant as he was a great scholar. Seeing my hesitation he told me that whenever he finds something new, he immediately tries to learn about that, even from a child. That was a lesson.

My other teacher was Dr. R.K.Singh, the then Vice-chancellor. He remained advisor to Government of India. He was 73 years. He was so humble that he would stop his car and ask me to sit. And he will drop me where I was to go. At night, when I was still working in my office, he used to come unannounced to take a cup of tea (I am a tea addict).

And out of so many, I can never forget the treatment given me by my Guru, Pt. Ravi Shankar. Whenever I visited his residence in Delhi, he never allowed me to go without eating some sweets which he used to bring personally for me. A Guru serving his disciple. Seeing that I was a senior person, he used to teach me in his bed room all alone.

Anyhow, what all of us has to learn to be simple and unassuming like an fully laden apple tree.

    May God bless you all.

  15. Many thanks for the nice words. Even an unattached person like me feels very happy. Thanks again. Age with experience plus a bubbling child inside makes all the difference. You are right. I have a gift which compels others to accept my views. It is a gift of true sincerity and objectivity. Being a professional counsellor, I have been able to set the life cars of thousands of my students and other persons.

Life and car share many things in common. Both are conceived by adults, delivered after a gestation period, tested, run on all types of roads with potholes, smooth and slippery, gradually age and mature. And when the time comes to relax, the contract is over. A new life and a new car take birth.

Good to read your words. Thanks.
