  1. I would look at the Altis Petrol AT as my first choice (I am a bit biased towards automatics). My second choice would be a Cruze AT. I would also TD a VW Jetta though I don't know if the OTR would be within your budget.

Thanks Sanjitchandran and rssh! Yes of course I know that the Honda City AT would be a great choice but I am not there at that price bracket. Neither am I going to spend 8.5 on i20. I will wait and hope for a correction in the i20 price or an AT Jazz maybe sometime in the future. I get a feeling that the i20 price correction could come earlier.

Dr.Nishu and Rahul1810 - thank you for your inputs. Somehow I am not a big fan of the SX4 (no offense meant) - the feedback on petrol generally has not been encouraging. Also ideally I do not want to spend more than 8 lacs and the SX 4 is in the 10 lac OTR range. I do not want to go in for pre-owned cars either. So I guess it means a wait till either the Jazz comes with an AT version - I did write to Honda and they replied saying there are no plans in the near future. Else wait for a price correction or introduction of the new i20. I see rapidly increasing numbers of the i10 AT in town here - easy to spot them with the 'Auto' badge on the rear. Sad but the other car manufacturers just don't see the trend/need to come out with AT variants in the hatches - or even diesel ATs below 10 lacs. I wish automobile companies could come out with monthly sales figures of AT versions.

    i20 AT

Thanks Durango Dude. Perhaps I should elaborate a bit more. I want something more spacious than an i10. My reason for not going in for the current City AT is that it is over 10 lacs OTR. The i20 is a nice size, has great safety features (has decent boot space too) but it is too expensive at the current levels (around 8.5)? And I am worried about potential low single digit FE figures. Are there any other large AT hatches scheduled to come soon?

    i20 AT

I am currently using a City CVT (2006) - good car - fair mileage of 8.5 to 9 in town and 12 to 13 on highway. The one big minus is the lack of safety features. I am now toying with the idea of downsizing to a spacious hatch and was hoping that the new Jazz would have an AT version. Since that has not happened, the only other choice for me seems to be the i20 AT. I am hesitant since there are so few user reviews on the car and the general perception that the FE is not up to the mark in both i10 & 20 AT versions and that the gearbox is dated. Would this car be a decent buy - is it overpriced - will there be downward price revision thanks to the Jazz effect? Would appreciate inputs from you all. Thanks in advance.
  6. Would this trigger off a kind of price war? Will Hyundai reduce prices for i20? They have an advantage of having more versions/features including an AT - so will they react? Durango Dude2011-08-19 01:50:14
