Here's a list of what to expect at the 12th edition of India's biggest auto exhibition.
With 2013 inching closer to an end, there is considerable excitement among the masses with to welcome the new year. For the entire automobile industry comprising of enthusiasts, prospective buyers, manufacturers and dealers, the excitement of 2014's arrival is much more. In February 2014 the gates to the 12th edition of the nation's biggest automobile exhibition will open and the best offerings of the auto industry will be on display.
The Auto Expo always gets tongues wagging about the motorcycles and cars expected to be display. Some purchase decisions are put on hold too in the interest of expected launches. There's not going to be any difference this time too. Since its inception, the Auto Expo had always been held at Pragati Maidan. The 2014 Auto Expo will be the first where there will be two separate venues for the motor show and component manufacturers.
The motor show will be held from 7th to 11th February at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. The components show will be held from 6th to 9th February at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Here is a preview of the cars and motorcycles comprising of existing products, expected new launches and concept creations that shall grace the 2014 Auto Expo.
Maruti Suzuki which occupies the biggest share of the Indian car market will showcase its compact SUV XA Alpha concept. It is yet to cash in on the hugely successful compact SUV segment in India. The XA Alpha will help the manufacturer gauge the public perception and hopefully boost their confidence to launch it soon. The replacement of its A-Star hatchback which didn't achieve the desired sales performance will be also on display. Their upcoming sedan car which will replace the SX4 and take on the Verna, Vento and City will also be showcased. The new SX4 hatchback too shall be revealed.
Honda will showcase their recently unveiled new sedan City, the all new Jazz, the Brio based compact MPV Mobilio and its compact SUV Vezel. The new City is expected to be launched in January. The new Jazz, Mobilio and Vezel will be displayed in flesh to the Indian audience for the first time.
Toyota will reveal the new Corolla at the 2014 Auto Expo. Nissan will have the Datsun Go and its compact MPV the Go+ on display. This will be the first time the public will be able to see the yet to be launched Datsun cars that have created a lot of buzz lately.
Some of the cars with cosmetic changes and minor upgrades that will be on display at the exhibition includes the Chevrolet Beat which will have a re designed front look. An updated version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift too shall be on display. The rejuvenated Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and Hyundai's i20, Verna and Elantra complete this list. Hyundai will showcase the new Santa Fe. Skoda is expected to reveal the redesigned Yeti and Superb.
Tata Motors is expecting to attract a fair share of visitors to its stall with their compact hatch codename 'Falcon 4' and compact sedan 'Falcon 5' that will be on display. Ford will showcase their new Figo to gauge market reaction. The Hyundai stall is expected to draw a significant amount of crowd for their compact SUV will be unveiled.
The manufacturers catering to the premium end of the car segment will be present in full force too. Mercedes Benz is expected to showcase the CLA compact luxury sedan and the GLA that were unveiled recently at an international auto show. BMW will show off the 3 Series GT that will be launched shortly in the Indian market and will be manufactured at their Chennai plant. The recently unveiled third generation X5 is expected to be parked alongside. Audi's compact premium sedan the A3 has already been caught by cameras while undergoing road tests in India. It will be on display and help Audi draw prospective buyers to its arena.
Land Rover is likely to exhibit their 2014 Range Rover Evoque. There is a possibility that Jaguar's stall might have the F Type Coupe and the C-X17 which were revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The motorcycle manufacturers will be revealing their products which are expected to be launched in the Indian market in 2014. KTM will reveal its fully faired RC200 and the RC390 motorcycles. Its stand is also expected to have of its motorcycles from its global product portfolio. Honda is likely to have the CBR300 parked at its stall. Bajaj's fully faired 200NS have been caught on camera and is expected to be revealed at the Auto Expo.
Hero MotoCorp has showcased its 2014 model range comprising of 15 new models and upgraded variants to the media. Their new line up is for sure going to occupy all the available space at their stall. During that unveiling Hero had stated that it will showcase a newer range of bikes at the 2014 Auto Expo.
