  1. Maruti Suzuki teases Celerio, highlights its EZ Drive transmission: In today's leading newspapers can be seen the teaser shots of Maruti Suzuki's upcoming latest hatchback, Celerio which is intended to replace Estilo, A-star & to fight with rivals like Hyundai Grand i10(probably). Highlighted bits include; Interiors shots: EZ Drive Automatic gearshifter Swift, DZire based Multi-function steering wheel with dedicated audio controls, Bluetooth telephony controls & SRS Airbag(on top-end ZXi variant probably) USB/Aux-In/CD/MP3/FM compatible music system with Bluetooth telephony connectivity 235 litres of boot space (Pics source: Indianautosblog.com) Maruti Suzuki has also launched the dedicated website to Celerio i.e http://www.marutisuzuki.com/celerio/.
  2. Mahindra updates Quanto with 'Yoga Seats' at Rear: Mahindra has tweaked the rear seats of its Quantocompact SUV. The sub-four-meter Quanto was the company's first offering in the Indian compact SUV segment. One of its biggest drawbacks, apart from the Quanto’s qurky styling, is its uncomfortable rear bench, plus, there's the third row, which is almost unusable. To accommodate two jump seats at the back in order to facilitate seating for seven, Mahindra used a fixed seat back for the middle-row, which was also thinner and couldn't be reclined, resulting in a very up-right, and uncomfortable, seating position. To address this drawback, Mahindra has replaced the Quanto’s middle row of seats with redesigned “Yoga Seats”. This is basically a new 60:40 split second row seating arrangement with better cushioning, a centre armrest and a reclining function. The Mahindra Quanto’s new second row of seats can now be folded twice, along with the folding third row, resulting in as many as 36 different seating configurations. According to Mahindra, no structural or mechanical changes have been made, and prices will continue as they were. (Source: Autocar India)
  3. Recently spied is the Suzuki's upcoming new offering in completely undisguised avatar. As per source & speculations it seems to be 150cc air cooled, naked bike to rival Yamaha FZ bike series & recently launched Honda CB Trigger. This bike sports completely all new naked bike based styling, 150cc engine(as claimed by information source) & many more. Hope it to be showcased at Auto Expo 2014 event & priced sensibly when launched. An excerpt from artice at Motorbeam, ..A bike has been spotted on the Noida expressway, en route to the 2014 Auto Expo where it will be displayed. Badged as the Suzuki Gixer, this motorcycle could change the fate of Suzuki in India, similar to what the FZ did to Yamaha’s balance sheet. Suzuki has been lacking a variety of products but the automaker is seriously looking at expanding its portfolio. Vaibhav who spotted the bike says he saw two Suzuki motorcycles although he has shared only one picture. We feel a full faired version of the above pictured bike could also be launched. A quick dive into the details reveals the Gixer to be a modern and attractive motorcycle. The bike features aggressive styling with the front headlight taking inspiration from the Pulsar 200 NS. Looking at the exhaust, we feel the Suzuki Gixer will be powered by a 150cc, 4-valve engine but the fins for air-cooling are very visible so this is most likely an update to the GS150R. What further amplifies this being another 150cc offering is the the lack of a rear disc brake, an unseen omission even on 150cc bikes these day. The rear sports a 130 section tyre. The bike also sports a monoshock rear suspension. (Source: xBHP via Motorbeam)
  4. Few days prior to Auto Expo 2014, new commuter oriented Gearless scooter by Yamaha, name YAMAHA CYGNUS alpha is spied undisguised, based on Yamaha RAY scooter. This scooter seems to be running on same underpinnings, chassis as Yamaha RAY, but with different & more mature styling this scooter seems to be family oriented & seems to challenge segment leader Honda Activa. An excerpt from source article, First and foremost this scooter looks strikingly similar to the Ray because the Alpha shares the same chassis but with a longer and muscular body. The side panels are new with a fresh design while the front gets drop design side indicators. The headlight is mounted on the handle, instead of the body like on the Ray, giving the Alpha a more mature look. The rear grab rail is made of aluminium while also being inspired from the Activa. Other Activa influence includes the seat, side indicators and tail lights. The switch gear and palm grips are the same as the Ray while the instrument cluster sees some changes in design. The Alpha does resemble the Aviator to quite an extent. What is powering this scooter? Either the same tried and tested 113cc engine or a new 125cc engine? Well the picture makes us believe it’s a 113cc engine, which is same as the Ray although the exhaust appears slightly longer than the Ray. The Yamaha Alpha will produce 7 BHP of power and 8.1 Nm of torque, being positioned above the Ray Z in Yamaha’s scooter portfolio. The company could have resolved the small niggles of the Ray in the Alpha like a bigger underseat storage and a more robust fuel filler cap. The model seen in the spy shot is the Cygnus Alpha. 5. This isn't a big issue with present day cars, specifically Maruti Suzuki, Honda & Toyota cars. Thinner to thinner(almost tin-can like), lighter to lighter parts are used at places which allow or withstand it, like boot-lid or tail-gate metal sheets or even side front fenders or even doors. Few Renault Duster owners also complain of such iss Yes you might have faced the problem based on that reason, as you operated its tail-gate from inappropriate place. Reason being Swift/Dzire(even both new & old) is built with too flimsy & lighter metal sheet as i stated above also. Sometimes you can come across similar kind of dents on its front bonnet also, as some people use thumb or hand force to silently close it. Don't try any other measures, like welding metal sheet as neither it can be done also reason being so thin metal sheets can be welded also, if welded from inside welding can spoil the metal sheet's other side & paint also. Best way is to operate its body parts from right places & for rectification of dent show this damage to Maruti Service center, they might correct it by hand or by any other available means.
  6. The later, the sweeter.. here it comes. Manza Hybrid displayed at Auto Expo 2012, was offered with facelifted All-new front for Indica Vista/Manza series and due to slightly smaller front overhang it was ideal for sub 4m Manza CS usage, as it saved few centimetres on its front which can be used at its rear for providing better & bigger boot space but sadly that things remained at idea or concept stage at that time due to unfavourable Market business conditions & similar conditions at manufacturer end. But came the TATA's HORIZONEXT project programe which dealt with the development of new Falcon 4 & 5 series sub 4m cars. Coming to these Manza CS or Falcon 5 spyshots, IMHO, it looked very good for a product of this segment, donor product & as an overall design which includes packaging also. Its boot section looks quite nice, well proportioned & well-integrated with large tail-lamp flanks reducing the visual metal bulk. More or less, it looks like Chevrolet SAIL notchback's tail-section when seen from side, which in turn is a good thing, Rear windscreen glass angle is also better. With already spied good looking interiors, overall it looks like this time TATA is now having a winner & what the market demands now, provided they provide us niggle-free products under this HORIZONEXT series.
  7. With winters going on at full pace, specifically in Northern & Central India regions, many of the car users are facing problems with Misting or Mist formation inside the window glass of their respective cars while driving. Which in turn gets quite distracting & risky for driving. Similar problem I'm facing with my Maruti Suzuki New Swift Dzire ZDi. With outside temp ranging from 6-18 deg C in our region, whenever i drive I'm facing the issue of sudden Misting of all windows in my car. For rear windscreen there's defogger but for front windscreen i need to switch its AC on all the time at 23 deg C setting. I don't want to use Heater for this purpose as it heats the cabin & creates discomfort while driving. However when i use Auto front defogger setting, it switches off the cabin re-circulation mode & makes the outside air to enter, mostly which is polluted or smells bad, which makes me to switch to re-circulation mode again. What could be another way to prevent Mist formation on front windscreen ? Please suggest & share your experiences/views
  8. +1 to this. But this might not gel well the universal variant theme for their whole range, atleast they should equip it with feature list as similar to Honda City's E, S, SV, V & VX. Hyundai too follow similar nomenclature theme with their cars within a segment.
  9. Congrats reddy for your new Kawasaki in advance. Do let us know about its other details getting its delivery, alongwith its pics.
  10. Honda Amaze SX Diesel priced at Rs.7.12 lacs & SX Petrol priced at Rs.6.22 lacs
  11. Hyundai In an attempt to product & variant portfolio to maintain the customers interest into the product & a bit of feeling the heat from competition(New Honda City), Hyundai is intending to launch the recent mid-spec variant of Verna Diesel, termed as Verna CX based on its 1.4, 89PS, 220Nm CRDi engine propelled with 6-speed Manual gearbox. This variant will serve as top-end variant of its 1.4 Diesel engine range & mid-spec variant across the whole variant portfolio of Verna. The CX is likely to be positioned between the EX and SX variants. The new diesel Verna will boast of features like; -Electro-chromatic IRVM mirror, -Rear parking camera with parking sensors, -2 DIN audio with bluetooth and steering controls, -Fully automatic temperature control, -Electrically adjustable and foldable outside mirror with turn indicators, -Anti-lock braking system and -Driver-side airbag. A quote from source article says, When contacted, Hyundai Motor India's spokesperson said: "At Hyundai , we continuously improve the price-value equations by refreshing all our existing models to offer modern premium image." Verna has sold more than 2.37-lakh units since its introduction in 2006. The car took the leadership position in the mid-size sedan segment post the launch of the Fluidic Verna in 2011. 12. Hi Prashantroxx, The steering wheel cover of your car seems to be a nice fit & of good quality. Can you please post the complete pic of the steering wheel of your DZire ? & share some details about the cover itself ?
  13. Cosmetically, the Tata Movus will come with refreshed interiors, which will include a slightly altered dashboard, and captain seats on the top variant. While the exteriors are expected to get ‘variCOR’ branding on the rear fenders. Mechanically, the Movus will employ the same 2.2-litre ‘VariCOR’ diesel engine that powers the Tata Safari Storme but, the motor will be detuned to make around 118bhp, compared to the Storme’s 138bhp. In the interest of saving costs, Tata Motors will fit the Movus with single-pot calipers instead of dual-pots and the MUV will run on smaller, 15-inch tyres. The Movus will be available in three variants, with the CX being the base, LX the middle and EX the top. The base CX trim will not be equipped with an air-conditioner for which, you will have to choose the LX trim. Both CX and LX trims will feature the old car’s dashboard design. The top EX variant gets a revised cabin, with refreshed air-con controls, dual-tone interiors and a new centre console. It will also be equipped with roof-mounted rear AC vents and will get a revised anti-roll bar too. There will be three seating configurations on offer. The base CX variant can be configured for 8, 9 or 10 seats, while the LX trim will feature optional captain seats, making it a seven-seater. The top EX variant gets captain seats as standard and can be configured as a seven or eight-seater. Tata Motors plans to introduce the Movus in the commercial segment first before offering it to private customers. Just like the recently launched Ashok Leyland Stile, the Movus MUV will be marketed primarily towards fleet operators rather than private individuals. Prices are expected to start at Rs 7.5 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi and go up to Rs 8.6 lakh for the top EX variant. (Source: Autocar India)
  14. Nice curvy looks & decent equipment seems to be on offer on its top-end variant shown above. Slightly simpler & less curvy design than Swift, means it might retain its charm longer with its owners.
  15. Maruti Suzuki Celerio spotted undisguised: Motorbeam spotted Celerio hatchback and posted details as, The soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki Celerio (codenamed YL7) has been caught undisguised in ZXi trim at the Buddh International Circuit. In terms of styling, the Maruti Celerio looks confident with its new design language derived from the Suzuki A-Wind Concept. The front fascia of the Maruti Celerio reveals a broad stance with a swept back design tone. The brawny wrap-around headlamps are neatly connected with two slats of chrome on the grille and there is a separate circular fog lamp housing up front. The side profile consists of a strong shoulder line emerging from the front fender that rises up to the hip of the Celerio. Another crease runs below to give the Maruti Celerio a good presence. The Maruti Celerio’s rear profile hints of the Maruti Alto 800 and somewhat Hyundai i20 with its tail lamps. The rear bumper is big and chunky and you can notice a roof integrated rear spoiler. Other noticeable bits are the 6-spoke alloy wheels and rear view mirror integrated blinkers. Expect the interiors to be roomy and fresh, having light colour trims. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be offered with the 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine initially. This engine produces 67 BHP of maximum power with 90 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car will rival the Hyundai Grand i10. Maruti Suzuki will also introduce an automatic manual transmission system with the Celerio, which is a clutch-less transmission that reduces stress while driving in congested traffic conditions and returns good fuel efficiency. The Maruti Celerio will also be offered with a new diesel engine that will be launched by the end of this year. It will be a 800cc, 2-cylinder unit. Maruti Suzuki will launch the Celerio at the 2014 Auto Expo and deliveries are expected to commence soon after the launch. The expected on-road Mumbai price of the Maruti Celerio is in the range of Rs. 4.60 – 5.95 lakhs for the petrol variants. Source: motorbeam.com
  16. SCOOP ! Undisguised Spy shots of TATA Vista TECH variant: As reported TATA to introduce Vista top-end fully loaded variant with body kit & other Manza sedan based features, New VISTA TECH variant is spotted recently by IAB reader, Changes expected/noticed are: Best in class rear legroom, head room and shoulder room. 6.7-inch touchscreen multimedia system with GPS, audio-video, Bluetooth, AUX, USB and DVD capabilities. Rear charging socket. Auto climate control system. Manza’s dashboard with instrument cluster located ahead of the driver. Driver information system borrowed from Manza. ABS with EBD. Dual front Airbags. (Info source: Indianautosblog) This variant will be going to replace the more powerful, expensive yet slow seller TATA Vista D90 which was powered with 90PS VGT Quadrajet/Diesel engine from Manza/Linea. This variant will be powered with same 75PS FGT Quadrajet engine which powers the rest of Vista Quadrajet range. Will see the launch of this car soon.. **EDIT** Pics uploading errors.
  17. SCOOP ! TATA Vista Tech coming soon: Tata Motors is working on a new variant of the Vista hatchback that will be called the Tata Vista Tech. The Vista Tech is essentially the Tata Vista D90 (production of which has recently stopped) but with a 74bhp FGT (fixed-geometry turbo) diesel engine, instead of the D90’s 89bhp VGT (variable-geometry turbo) motor. The Tata Vista Tech will retain the Vista D90’s interiors (which, like the Manza, slot the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel) and will be equipped similarly too. This means the Vista Tech will get a touchscreen audio system with voice-guided navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and an input for all popular media sources (USB, aux-in, SD card and DVD). There’s climate control too, but rear parking sensors have been left off the list. (Pic of Vista D90 interiors used above for illustrative purpose as upcoming Vista tech interiors will be more or less the same from the same source itself as article). Launched last year, the Tata Vista D90 hatchback received a tepid response, prompting the company to stop production within just under a year of its introduction (dealers still have stocks and the Tata Vista D90 presently carries a discount of about Rs 75,000). Using the lower-powered, 74bhp motor will help Tata Motors price the Vista Tech more competitively, offering consumers a well-equipped, large hatchback at a reasonable price. However, this variant may just be a stop-gap solution, until Tata Motors' new hatchback, codenamed Falcon, replaces it in late 2014. (Source: Autocar India) **EDIT** Post title posting
  18. TATA 1.2 Turbo Petrol engine details revealed, generates 80PS & good fuel economy expected Autocar India revealed the details of 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine which is going to power upcoming TATA Falcon range of cars. As per ACI, 'Enthusiasts will be disappointed to learn that this new 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor will produce only about 80bhp – a figure that is bettered by most similar sized, naturally aspirated engines (the 1.2-litre petrol Swift makes 84bhp). However, our sources reveal that the company’s prime focus is on reducing fuel consumption and delivering better drivability, rather than outright performance. In fact, Tata Motors is confident about achieving a very high fuel economy figure in the official Indian Driving Cycle (IDC). Though the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine has its roots in the cast-iron cylinder block of the 1.2 Xeta Motor, it is, for all practical purposes, an all-new motor. The block has been redesigned for better stiffness and balance, weight has been significantly reduced and the cylinder head is all-new as well. The new engine will be launched with a two-valve-per-cylinder head but a four-valve head is also being developed. The company’s long-standing TA65 gearbox will be mated to the new engine but again, it has been significantly improved with a smoother shift.' (Source of news: Autocar India)
  19. This is not all needed in India, nor it'll work. Looks like a baby car developed into SUV in a hurry. Instead a simple Punto with refined & retuned 1.3 Multijet Diesel & 1.4 T-jet with body cladding all-around & sporty facelifted front bumper plus reworked tail-lights can give Punto cross a distinct identity & serve the cheap & best purpose to fight on growing Cross-hatchback category.
  20. Quite a good idea, indeed. TKIL, why not to try this idea i.e painting all the side cladding & in body color leaving its few bits uncolored or matte grey finish, it'll definitely give a grown up feel to this hatchback. Can definitely give a serious competition to VW Polo cross & other similar rivals. BTW, have anybody remembered FIAT gave such treatment to their cars a decade back with Palio statioon wagon as Palio Adventure & everybody overlooked their efforts but a decade later similar trend in evoking again. 21. Scoop ! Undisguised spy shots of TATA Nano Twist: Recently seen at TATA dealership is New Revamped 2014 TATA Nano 'twist' i.e TATA Nano with EPS(Electronic Power steering). As reported & posted on Cartoq website, The Nano Twist has already begun arriving at Tata dealerships. The car will be sold in XC and XT variants, which will sit above the CX and LX variants respectively. Both the XC and XT variants are likely to carry a near 15,000 rupee price increase for the extra features added. The Nano will retain its 623 cc, twin cylinder petrol engine that outputs 37 Bhp-51 Nm. This engine, sourced from Kirloskar, drives the rear wheels of the Nano by means of a 4 speed gearbox sourced from Kinetic Engineering. (Source: cartoq.com) It also features New Instrumentation with LED telltale indication signals(like Hyundai EON) & 'Distance to empty' indication. Driver stalks are also separated for Wiper & Headlamps-Indicator operation. But an Opening practical feature i.e Opening tailgate or atleast tail-glass is still missed for this 2014 major upgrade. It would've definitely added more practicality to Nano.
  22. BTW, Toyota India; Way back in 2012 for a hunt for a Diesel hatchback, Etios Liva Diesel was the strong contender in my options list but i left it just because of its missing fully loaded top-end variants & later on booked Swift ZDi & bought Dzire ZDi.
  23. It took more than a while longer, when Toyota India realized that they're missing something very crucial in their portfolio which we Indian car buyers always look while purchasing a new car i.e: A top-end variant & what does it offers ? Yes, I'm referring here to Toyota Etios Liva hatchback, which was having top-end V & VX/V-SP variants lacking in their portfolio for Etios Liva Diesel hatchback, while they're having it for Petrol ones. While their initial excuses might be like 'Production constraints' or maybe to promote the petrol variants by offering top-end loaded variants in it only but now Toyota India realized & silently introduced its V-D & VD-SP variants to Liva diesel range. An excerpt from info source, team-bhp, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has silently introduced two new variants of the Liva diesel - VD and VDSP, which will sit at the top of the range. While the Liva petrol was available in J, G and V trims, the diesel was sold only in JD and GD variants till now. Like their petrol siblings, the VD and VDSP will feature higer levels of equipment to distinguish them from the JD and GD. The exterior of the VD and VDSP will get features like a double chrome front grille, front fog lamps, rear wiper and washer, 12-spoke alloy wheels, chrome garnish on the boot and turn indicators on the ORVMs. On the inside, the VD and VDSP will be given a tachometer, dual-tone interiors, wood grain finished door armrests, a chrome gearshift knob and a bluetooth-compatible audio system. A rear defogger will also be provided. Addtionally, the VDSP variant will sport a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls. Safety features like dual airbags and ABS with EBD will be available as well. Mechanically, the new variants are identical to the JD and GD and will continue to use the same 1364 cc, 4-cylinder D-4D engine, which outputs 68 PS and 170 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The VD and VDSP trim the car will cost Rs. 6,72,000 and Rs. 7,12,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. This might be the due to revive sales numbers for their Etios Liva range, before its all-new next-gen Etios twins arrive in upcoming couple of years. **EDIT** Pic source: toyotaetiosliva.in
  24. Wait for Honda City Diesel to arrive at dealerships. Although a bit lesser on acceleration runs but City diesel will definitely win in Reliability, Ownership-maintenance costs in long term plus Honda City has better Prestige value than Verna.
  25. Skipping these features in terms of auto manufacturers is called 'Value Engineering'. You need not to wait further to see such kind of vehicles on our roads. Opel cars initially came with such filters & hi-tech bits except LEDs(which were not prevalent at that time in India) & they fizzled badly here in our country then came Chevrolet branded cars featuring value engineering & they succeeded upto some extent.
