  1. As can be speculated from the pics, this time it's going to be a major facelift for Mahindra Scorpio which includes almost all the plastic/vinyl/fibre parts reworked & facelifted, like; -All new front bumper with new Airdam & redesigned headlamps. IMHO, this time there would an addition of LED parking lamps & projector headlamps. -Highly reworked & redesigned dashboard with all new meter console(including LCD display MID) & new center console with all-new music system. -Reworked Tail-gate with prominent central curvy element, similar to XUV500. This time tail-lights also seems to be redesigned with re-arranged indicator elements. Probably to hide these new designed bodypart lines, manufacturers test this way. This reworked elements needs testing just to check their reliability so that they don't fall apart while in real world working.
  2. Long awaited Suzuki's 200cc+ sports bike is finally going to be launched next month, Jan 2014 at Auto expo probably. Its a naked Twin cylinder, Liquid cooled 248cc, twin exhaust bike from Suzuki. An excerpts from Autocar India, Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd (SMIL) plans to launch its naked street bike, the GW250 (also called Inazuma 250), in January 2014. The company plans to bring the 248cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke motorcycle through the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route and will be assembled at SMIL’s Gurgaon plant. Meanwhile, the company is also gearing up to ready at least one new product for its scooter as well as its commuter bike portfolio. SMIL’s current scooter portfolio includes the Access 125 and Swish 125, while the company sells one commuter motorcycle in each 110cc (Hayate), 125cc (Slingshot) and 150cc (GS150R) categories. Speaking exclusively to Autocar Professional, Atul Gupta, executive vice-president, SMIL, confirmed that “we are going to launch the 250cc motorcycle next month (January 2014) and new products to expand our current portfolio in the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. We are equally focussing on the scooters and the motorcycles.”
  3. The middle and top end variants of the Nano Twist will get the ZF-sourced electric power steering system. The middle variant of the Nano Twist, equivalent to the existing CX, will become the XE, while the top variant of the Nano Twist, equivalent to the current LX, will become the XT model. The Tata Nano Twist is expected to be launched on January 15, 2014. The Nano Twist will also be offered in a purple paint shade option for the first time and the EPS version will be approximately around Rs 15,000 more expensive than the equivalent non-power steering Nano (which is expected to be sold alongside the EPS version). The biggest grouse against the Tata Nano has been its heavy steering, the result of a flawed steering geometry that Tata hasn't quite got right on this 630kg, rear-wheel drive car. Now, the Tata Nano Twist could overcome one of the car's major drawbacks. The ZF electric power steering has taken about a year-and-a-half in development and Tata engineers have fine-tuned the calibration of the hatchback to give a good balance between low effort and road feel, according to company sources. Since its launch in 2009, sales of the Tata Nano have been a fraction of what Tata Motors hoped for. Although Tata has upgraded the interiors and exteriors of the Nano in a bid to entice buyers, the stigma of the world's cheapest car has kept many buyers away. The ZF-sourced electric power steering system on the Nano Twist marks the first mechanical upgrade for the Nano since its launch. This upgrade is a part of Tata Motors' new Horizonext strategy which seeks to improve existing products, sales and service to combat the recent slump in sales. (Autocar India)
  4. Yes, it's a mobile phone holder, with Music system nearby it to feed it with USB/Aux-in output. It's a handbrake/parking brake lever.
  5. IMHO, Datsun is planning it with petrol engine option only, But a sensible diesel engine option like 1.5 K9K or even smaller than it will make this car even more irresistible, considering the price point at which this car is projected. How much they can deny but as per the car market dynamics they'll definitely feel its absence, much sooner than expected, like Toyota felt for Etios & Liva twins. Haha.. I was waiting for this thread initiation from you being an eye witness of the event but in late afternoon i posted it. Regarding GO, A sub 4-lacs pricing for i20 sized & Alto k10 like fuel efficiency giving hatchback is great. Base variant for something like Rs.3.20-3.30 lacs would be too lucrative to lure buyers for car standing in Nissan dealership. They're expanding on their dealer & service network also before the launch of Datsun sub-brand & this car.
  6. Will be really a nice looking & interesting addition to Indian car scene. From the exclusive side rear shot, this car looks really good almost symmetric proportions. Rear looks really good with new Santa-fe like tail-lamps & angled tail-gate.
  7. From the picture you can tell that the car doesn’t seem very large and looks almost like a stretched Grand i10. It isn’t very tall either but close impression will show that the side window line has a deviation to mask the length of the body. The car features regular doors unlike the sliding type and it doesn’t look quite as large as the Ertiga. The design itself is very smart with large tail lamps and plenty of curves qualifying to the company’s current design philosophy. While we couldn’t get a picture we did see the front of the car and it follows the family face with a large hexagonal grille taking the centre stage. It’s very early in the day and there are absolutely no concrete details but we assume that it will run the 1.4-litre diesel engine from the Verna. The bigger 1.6-litre may be excessive for a car like this while the new 1.1-litre three cylinder that does a great job in the Grand i10 might be out of its element given the MPV’s larger dimensions. Hyundai might also bring in a petrol but it’s safe to assume they will be focusing largely on diesel power. The MPV isn’t slated to make an appearance at the 2014 Auto Expo but it could be revealed some time later in the year. We do believe that it will most probably go on sale later next year for a price that could hover between Rs 6.5 and 8 lakh. -Overdrive.in
  8. Space, comfort & functionality will be the key elements here for this car. i10 Grand is already good on space in its segment to which it belongs plus it has got the features which are not only first for hatchbacks instead they'll be exclusive for compact sedan segment as well like Rear Seat AC vents, Start Stop-button with Smart key, Cooled glove-box and many more will make it standout there also. However, i'll reserve my comments regarding its styling also till the original design has to be unveiled, but from external dimensions as visible in pics, i expect external stubby boot size in between Dzire & Amaze.
  9. Datsun to display Go hatchback in 90 cities Buyers across India can now see, touch and feel of the yet-to-be launched Datsun Go. Since it was officially revealed in July, the general public has only seen Datsun’s Go hatchback only in pictures and online videos. Now, they will be able to see, touch and get a feel of the yet-to-be-launched Go hatchback. Datsun will be showcasing its Go in more than 90 cities across the country as a part of its pan-India road show. The ‘Datsun Go Roadshow’ will kick off on 14th December, 2014 in Mumbai, Chennai and New Delhi and will eventually spread across other major cities in India. The pan-India roadshow will help Datsun take the Go hatchback closer to its customer base before its launch, thereby generating interest among prospective buyers. And it will also help the carmaker gauge public response across cities and get feedback from prospective buyers. "Dream, Access and Trust constitute the three pillars of the Datsun brand and we wish to highlight each one of them by showcasing the all-new Go to our customers. The Go promises to fulfill the aspirations of the Indian car buyers with its attractive price proposition. We wish to become a household name in India and reaching out to our customers is the first step towards it," said Kenichiro Yomura, president of Nissan’s India operations. (Autocar India)
  10. Datsun GO+ brochure unveiled: Recently seen is the brochure scans of 7-seater Datsun GO+ MPV, across the web. One of the best thing is that the production car is almost same as the concept car revealed few months back. Brochure highlights some of the great insights of this car; -Length: Impressively this car ducks itself under sub 4m mark & measures 3995mm, a great advantage in India to avail excise benefits. -Weight: 794kgs, it's much lower than even 5-seater conventional hatchbacks like Swift, ritz or even i20. Its weight is more in the league of Alto or Eon which weighs around 720-730kgs, thus translating into healthy performance & better fuel economy but raising a few doubts about crash safety aspects. -Engine: It's powered by same HR12DE 1.2l petrol engine powering Micra/Pulse petrol albeit in lower state of tune generating 68PS power, translating good fuel economy. -Wheels & Tyres: featuring of size 155/70 R13 in that market just identical to Hyundai Santro, are quite skinny for the load duties it's going to haul on our roads. **EDIT** Source: Indianautosblog.com
  11. If you're already having a Swift in your garage, i'd suggest you VW Polo 1.6 petrol. Though it's not available in showrooms as a new car but you can try for a used one at VW Daswelt(used cars) showroom or can find out at any buying/selling website. But if you're keen on buying a new car only then you can have a test drive & look at Polo 1.2 highline also. It's adequately powerful, loaded with features & can easily fetch good re-sale value at the end.
  12. A concept car undergoing rigorous on-road thorough testing as a full production mule even before its unveiling ! wow indeed a great thing from India's no.1 car manufacturer indicating their way ahead approach in designing & fastly realizing the concept into production cars. Hope this design won't lose too much of it while melting itself into production car.
  13. @Anveshak & rssh; Do post the pics of these discussed air filters of car ACs, as i haven't seen it earlier yet not even at service centres. All i knew about this is it's necessary to get car AC serviced after every 2-3 years. However condenser coil next to car radiator can be pressure cleaned every time during the car wash time.
  14. This is going to be a direct rival to New fludic Verna & New Honda City and will probably replace SX4 sedan.
  15. It came no surprise that this car is based on existing platform & it has to be also reason being no platform or body layout gets obsolete in 4-5 years span of time instead it brings another opportunity to evolve it further. Many global giants do it like Ford, GM, etc. so what's harm if honda uses it, maybe it's forced by market conditions like Diesel buying trends, etc. Since it was having too much juice left in it so Honda tried to extract from it albeit with refining it further. So regarding exteriors i think these are conservatively designed & his city looks resembles to its predecessor like initial type-I & II did. Coming to interiors, I think still Honda lacked behind interms of plastics texture i'd say specially when the spy shots of Maruti Suzuki YL-1/new SX4 sedan are across the web with its interior shots revealing its Skoda/VW inspired dashboard. I reserve my opinion about Touch screen HVAC controls also as i don't think they're safe enough to be used while driving as they need more attention to operate than rotary or knob like controls. Rear legroom & sholder room is improved & class topping i'd say. BTW, Nice to see conventional yet modern sedans(new city & maruti YL-1 sedan) have started taking shape again instead of cab forward or of other different bodystyles.
  16. Try 'elf yourself' app from apple app store. Quite a good fun filled app.
  17. Skoda Yeti facelift for China will sport a tailgate-mounted spare. Indian Autos Blog spotted this refreshed Yeti Long Wheelbase at the ongoing Guangzhou Motor Show. The spare wheel is mounted on a separate metal arm which swings to the left-hand side and enables access to the boot. The same sort of mechanism is seen on VW’s CrossFox in Brazil as well. We also notice that Skoda has shifted the position of the registration plate enclosure from the bootlid to the rear bumper. The Yeti shown at Guangzhou was the Outdoor variant which sports a few visual features such as silver skid plates and plastic body cladding. It remains unclear whether Skoda would also introduce the Yeti Style in China, and if they do, whether a similar arrangement for the spare wheel would be followed. The Yeti which you see here is a stretched version sporting a 2,638 mm wheelbase (as compared to the standard Yeti’s 2,578 mm). Overall length has increased from 4,223 mm to 4,275 mm while the height has reduced from 1,691 mm to 1,682 mm. (Source: Indianautosblog.com) Do you think it'll work for India ? Will it give VW-Skoda much needed SUV in 15-20 lacs price range to rival on Toyota Fortuner, Nissan upcoming X-Trail or Qashqai & Renault koleos ! Well i think, it can work well here.
  18. Tata Motors has launched two new CNG models, the Indigo emax and Indica emax. These two models have been introduced in six markets across India – Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura. Tata claims a mileage figure of 23.7km/kg for the Indica emax and 24.6km/kg for the Indigo emax. Announcing the launch, Ankush Arora, senior vice president, passenger vehicle business unit (Commercial), Tata Motors, said, “CNG is gaining momentum in the Indian automobile market and we are happy to announce the expansion of our CNG portfolio. The introduction of the new variants comes as an essential step that underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player. At Tata Motors, the core philosophy behind the launch of every new vehicle is anticipating what our customers need and blending it with the best-in-class technology and design engineering. Besides offering exciting new features, these cars will be backed by an engaging purchase experience and advanced technology to be an economic, friendly choice for consumers. This helps us arrive at an end product that suits the inherent automotive needs of our customers in a holistic way.” The Tata Indigo emax starts at Rs 4.99 lakh for the GLS trim, going up to Rs 5.27 lakh for the top-spec GLX trim. Its petrol-CNG engine churns out 64.1bhp at 5000rpm. Tata claims the Indigo emax has a range of up to 230km in CNG mode and over 650km in petrol mode. The Indica emax comes with a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh for the GLS trim, while the GLX trim costs Rs 4.26 lakh. Tata claims a similar 230km range in CNG mode and over 600km in petrol mode. All price are ex-showroom, Delhi. -Autocar India
  19. Confirmed by Nissan dealer itself, not my speculation alone. Hope they engine it right, I expect refined 1.5 K9K Diesel -85PS from Sunny/Evalia or 75PS version(AL Stile based) for their new CS car, not their crude, old, too noisy 64PS version from Micra/Pulse/Logan/Verito.
  20. OMG ! How closely the pics of the car, termed as New Honda city resembles to this MG550 car. Even the logo position on both of these cars are quite same & are of same shape. So, this car is MG550 for sure. So, fingers crossed till 25th of Nov for All-new Honda City unveiling. What's next ! maybe a CRIDER as new Honda City or twist in the story again !
  21. Yes, i wrote it intentionally. Plan to Book your Auto expo 2014 tickets to know more by TATA for India, not concepts though.
  22. Could be on a drive for any internal reasons of the company, else these German cars aren't value engineered, as needed to be successful in market like ours. Else same chapter will begin for Opel where it left, years ago. But still, i'm wondering why Opel Astra 1.7 TurboDiesel fizzled in India !
  23. Stingray is basically a facelifted wagon R, again which is also a good city car for singles. But for the somewhat higher price you can also buy more spacious cars like Ritz or Dzire petrol. Have a look at them also & also other cars falling in your budget.
  24. Stay away from Non-japanese 2nd hand cars. Reliability & maintenance costs crop ups as a main issue in them, which ultimately proves them costly than even newly bought cars. Go for used Honda City i-VTEC as you can easily get a good condition car at that price or go for Honda Amaze petrol, if considering a new car.
  25. Going as per thread title, this car can never be a Swift killer or a threat to Swift, considering both the cars possess different DNA, where swift is a sporty hatchback for singles focusing on looks & feel, while Jazz is a different game altogether as it's more MPV-based & focuses more on functionality than form. Lets see how it'll fare again in India in its new-gen & with diesel engine option.
