  1. Guys I started the Safari Vs. Scorpio debate in Feb-08 and after much discussion on this forum, opted for Scorpio CRDe (unfortunately, couldn't afford M-Hawk as recommended by FRG)! Having driven the Scorpio for over an year and having observed the Safari as well, my take is as follows: 1. City Driving: Scorpio wins hands down; have seen Safari-ites struggling in the traffic! 2. Maintenance: Scorpio seems to be better and less costly to maintain; Safari has a very off-putting rattling noise all the time! Except to change a fused headlight bulb, have never had to go to a service station out of turn in the last 13 months! 3. Comfort: Safari scores over Scorpio I reckon; Scorpio indeed is very bumpy especially on the speed breakers / rough roads. Safari seats are better as well I believe. Plus it has more legroom than Scorpio. 4. Highway Driving: Haven't driven the Safari on highways but did a 1700 km trip in Himachal hills on Scorpio during winters and it was fairly comfortable. Would you believe that the alignment was perfect when I came back and got it checked! Do feel though that Safari's seats will make it a more comfortable drive on longish journeys. 5. Steering: Somehow, a lighter steering (if it is) of the Scorpio works fine for me! Don't feel that its going out of control even on highways. All in all, to each his own but i'm happy with my final choice and Scorpio indeed works for me!! Regards Nitin
  2. This thread was started when I had put a question to FRG regarding which one (Safari Vs. Scorpio) to choose back in January. Having bought the Scorpio finally and having driven it for the last 5 months, I have to concede that I agree with your comment. It's indeed "to each his own". I love my Scorpio not only because its technically perhaps a superior vehicle than Safari but also "it's my car". I brush aside comments (which may be true in a lot of cases) such as "bad handling", "needs better suspension", "poor man's SUV", "loose steering wheel" etc. and love the damn vehicle coz I have bought it with my hard earned money and it's my first new vehicle!! (have owned and driven 2nd hand cars earlier). So while the debate may rage on - the fact of the matter is that I love being the king of the road with a mileage of approx. 11 kms per litre in city traffic conditions!
  3. Thanks anjan_c2007 , viktheram and katalysm76 for your comments. I have pretty much made up my mind on the Scorpio and completely agree on the secondary market bit - Scorpio indeed is not sold like junk there. Perhaps will not be able to wait for Sumo Grande coz somehow I'm not convinced with any of the Tata SUVs till date. But thanks for sparing your time and responding to my mail - it helps to have some kind of reassurance when one is spending a decent amount of money!
  4. Guys I had made up my mind to book Scorpio CRDe DX model until I read the safari vs scorpio thread and damn there goes my mind all over the place again! Honestly I had not even considered Safari until today. I compared Scorpio with Innova and chose Scorpio because I can't afford a chaueffer and with Inoova you definitely need one, thats for sure. I understand that Innova perhaps has better technology compared to both Scorpio and Safari but somehow its not an SUV - its more of a family car! I also agree with the statement on different individual annd different needs therefore had chosen Scorpio over anything else. But I'm confused now - why is everyone so negative about the Scorpio!!??!! Help please! FuelRunGod2008-01-30 13:15:05
