1. I have just come across some new images of the upcoming, all-new 2020 Mahindra Thar off-roader. Although the car in the images is still sporting some exterior camouflage, we get a pretty good look at the many exterior elements, especially the rear bumper, taillight, rear glass house and ORVMs. We also get to see the interiors of the off-roader, in what appears to be close to production guise, with its 4 forward facing seats, touchscreen infotainment system in the centre of the dashboard, new steering wheel and more. What do you guys think of the all-new Mahindra Thar and are you looking forward to its full unveil, which will take place on August 15, 2020? You can read more bout it here - https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/next-gen-mahindra-thar-to-debut-on-august-15-418210
2. I came across this video that walks you through the basics of off-roading for beginners. This will help new comers to this hobby get initiated fast and teach the best practices for getting started with off-roaders. Hope you all find this useful and it gets you all motivated to go and give off-roading a shot.
3. Here is the new Mahindra Armored Light Specialist Vehicle (ALSV) which has been built for use by military and defense forces. It’s designed to be a modular type vehicle allowing for efficient maintenance and it can be upgraded or configured in the field for a wide variety of operational roles. The ALSV offers ballistic protection up to B7, STANAG Level II. It can carry four crew members and up to 400kg of cargo. The Mahindra ASLV uses a 3.2-litre, multi-fuel diesel engine which is good for 215hp/ 500Nm and comes with a 4/6 speed automatic transmission, 4X4 with front and rear differential locks, 1,000 Kgs payload capacity, self-recovery winch, and high travel all-wheel independent suspension with central type inflation system. The vehicle has a top speed of over 120kph and the 0-100kph time is 12 seconds. The ALSV's tyres can run flat for up to 50km as well. What do you guys think of it? IMAGE SOURCE
4. Laffite Supercars is a company that has been created by Bruno Laffite, who is the nephew of six-time Formula One race winner, Jacques Laffite. The company has introduced the new Laffite G-Tec X-Road, which is essentially an off-roader with supercar levels of performance. It uses a 720hp, 6.2-litre V8 and it sends power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The model weighs only 1,300kg and it comes equipped with specially tuned off-road suspension. Only 30 units of the G-Tec X-Road will be produced, with the company claiming an electric version of the off-roader will also be available later on. What do you guys think of this crazy off-road supercar? Image source
5. So you thought off roading was just for the Jeeps and big 4x4s? Well looks like someone thinks others. I just happened to find this video online where a Phantom is taken on an off roading excursion. Quite gutsy of the driver to do this and he even does a drift. He definitely has some skills because taking this luxo barge sideways is not an easy task. What do you think? Here is the video
