  2. I am really confused by the launch of compass. Yes,I know Jeep is "the brand" and what its known for. Initially I was so much excited with the news that Compass will be launched around the price of Fortuners and all. But I am definitely disappointed with the power they have given in variants. What do you suggest if I should go for the range of 15 to 18 lacs, Creta or Compass? And what if I go up to 22 to 25 lacs, Fortuner or compass top model?
  3. SAIC will soon come to India. There are talks that it will bring the MG-Motor brand to our market first. But they also have this butch LDV 90 SUV in their line-up which is also sold in Australia. This means, they have a RHD version too. I think this can be a good rival to the Compass, Fortuner and the likes if priced aggressively.
  4. Hello guys some of you may remember me from my Audi A6 thread , the car now has long joined the family and is doing well . Now that being said i want to purchase an SUV that can do long highway trips without much problem , i have shortlisted the Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubushi Pjero Sports . I have test driven the pajero sports and loved its ride and steering , i loved the way you sit having a clear view of the road , i even liked the interiors which are much more better than the Toyota Fortuner . Now for the downside it does not have an AT transmission , iam not so sure about mitsubushi either , if they will operate or leave in the distant future Now for the Fortuner it looks good no doubt IMO better than the pajero , its a bit wide as well , it has an AT transmission . I know for sure Toyota is here to stay , though the ride is not that accurate and is bumpy . I for one wont be doing serious off roading , but it should be able to withstand our highways without much trouble Now for the main thing . When will the new Toyota Fortuner come into india ? is Mitsubushi planing to introduce a new Pajero Sport if so when ? I dont want to be stuck with an SUV that will have a new model within two years my deciding factor is this Please give your valued inputs on this matter and help me chose Thank You
  5. Hi, we recently bought a Toyota Fortuner 2.5 AT 4x2. It had completed 2300kms on the odo and I think its the right time to review my car. Ride and Handling – The ride is very smooth and it takes the big potholes with ease. The handling of the car i feel is very good and i feel comfortable when taking big turns. The steering feels very light in city and when its crosses 70-80 the steering weights up nicely. Space – When you step on the car it feels you are on a 5star hotel. Its legroom is pretty large and the seats are well cushioned. It is a very comfortable car. It can take 7-8 passengers at a time with ease. Looks – From the outside it looks like muscular. The bumper is well lined and the light are pretty good. And the sliding roof is just good to see from the sides. From the back its the Toyota land cruiser. Overall from outside its great looking. FE – It gives a mileage of 8-9kmpl in city and 10-12kmpl on highways. Worst FE i got 6kmpl on a very heavy traffic and best 13kmpl. Check out some pics of the car.
  6. Kindly advice, my cousin wants to buy a new suv in a couple of months in 20-30lakhs range. His requirements are 4x4, diesel, auto transmission and at least 550lt. Trunk volume. He is keen on a japanese make suv as he owned a forester and was really happy with the overall experince except for the chevrolet service which was bad due to the non availability of spares. His choices as in preferance are as follows: 1.fortuner but no auto in awd. but no diesel. 3.pajero sport but again no auto. 4.captiva, it has all the required features but spending money on something which is your last option doesn't make you feel all that great. Counting out santa fe because new one's coming next year and he doesn't like rexton's looks. So friends please advice which feature he should sacrifice among the first three and is captiva good enough among the competition or should he wait till one of the above models are launched with the missing feature. He likes to go off road and will be driving approx 20000kms annually. Thanks.
  7. Hyundai is working hard to get the new Santa Fe here in 2013. The current car, priced at Rs 23-26 lakh, is very important to the brand, and the Korean company is keen to build on its success. The new third-generation Santa Fe is the latest Hyundai to adopt the company’s now infamous ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language, but it also gets its own new design dialect, called ‘Storm Edge’. The company says it “captures dynamic forms created by nature during a storm”. The new Santa Fe is clearly more attractive than the current model sold in India; testament to this is the sharper headlight design, the huge front grille and plenty of design flourishes. Internationally, two versions of the new Santa Fe exist. There’s the normal 4689mm (2700mm wheelbase) version for markets where urban agility is more important, and a longer, 4905mm (2800mm wheelbase) version that replaces the Veracruz in the USA. Despite the Indian infatuation with imposing road presence and acres of cabin space when it comes to SUVs, we are likely to get the shorter version, currently being produced in the USA. Step inside and you are greeted by a cabin swathed in a continuation of Hyundai’s new design philosophy. Blue lighting lends a futuristic touch; there’s the layered dashboard design and a classy blend of wood trim and leather abounds. International markets will get both five- and seven-seat versions, although it’s the latter that Hyundai will bring to India. The current SUV suffers slightly from a shortage of head- and knee-room in the third row of seats, and Hyundai says it’s made some improvements in this area (the wheelbase of the car is the same, but the car is longer, especially the rear overhang). In time-honoured fashion, the Korean manufacturer will brim the India-spec car with features. The current-gen SUV already has no dearth of features, and it will be interesting to see what new features Hyundai can add. Overseas, the fully loaded car comes with a self-parking system, a tyre-pressure monitor and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, and some of these could certainly come here. Under the hood, Hyundai has updated the same 2.2-litre diesel that powers the current car, but has made improvements mostly geared at better economy and lower emissions. Power and torque figures are identical to the current car (194bhp, 42.9kgm) and still class-leading, and that means it is likely to be extremely tractable, with plenty of pulling power. Hyundai also has a smaller 2.0-litre ‘R’ diesel on offer now, and would do well to introduce this engine option in India for a more competitive price point, similar to what Chevrolet has done with the Captiva. A big SUV though it may be, the car-like driving manners of the current model are one reason for its success. The new car also rides on an independent suspension, with a new sub-frame providing additional insulation from the road. These two factors are vital in helping Hyundai find an ideal balance between ride and handling, just like it is on the current car. An interesting fact is that the new Santa Fe’s body shell is built from technology used on the European-market i40, recipient of the EuroCarBody award in 2011. The new Santa Fe’s primary competition in India will come in the form of the Renault Koleos and the recently updated Chevrolet Captiva. Despite being plagued by a dated dashboard design, inferior material quality and ageing looks compared to the other two, the current Santa Fe still manages to hold its spot as the best car in the segment, thanks to its tough build, decent ride and handling, and superior engine and gearbox combination. The ‘Fluidic’ Santa Fe, expected sometime in mid-2013 at an estimated price of Rs 24-25 lakh, could take Hyundai’s success in the SUV segment to the next level.
  8. Toyota has launched the Fortuner with a 5 Speed autobox as opposed to the 4 speed box it had earlier. This variant is available in 2WD only. Toyota claims this new box will provide better comfort and driveability. Bookings for this model start from 18th January 2013. Additionally, the limited edition TRD Sportivo Fortuner trim has now been incorporated as a regular trim level to its line-up.The TRD Sportivo trim comes with additional features such as front and rear bumper spoilers, a rear roof spoiler, and a TRD Sportivo emblem. The Fortuner TRD Sportivo trim is available in three dual tone colours - Super White and Grey, Silver and Grey and White Pearl Mica and Grey. An all-new Pearl White Mica colour is also available in all trim levels. The new introductions are priced at: 4x2 AT (with five-speed auto transmission) - Rs 22,33,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) 4x2 AT TRD Sportivo (with five-speed auto transmission) - Rs 22,93,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) 4x2 MT TRD Sportivo - Rs 21,96,668 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Owners got to experience what their cars are capable of since most of the times their SUVs are most of the time driven in urban traffic conditions.
