I have found some images of the new Suzuki Jimny standing besides the previous generation Mahindra Thar. It is quite interesting to see just how compact the Jimny's dimensions are, compared to even the previous-gen Thar, keeping in mind the all-new Thar has significantly grown in size. With Maruti slated to launch the Jimny off-roader in our market sometime next year, it will be very intriguing to see how it performs in our market and whether it can draw buyer's away from the extremely popular Thar. Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the Gypsy in India, and it has no plans to launch the Jimny right now as a replacement. The confirmation of the Jimny not coming to India comes from Maruti Suzuki’s senior director of engineering, CV Raman. In a recent interaction with V3Cars, Raman clarified that Maruti Suzuki has no plans to introduce the Jimny, or any of its derivative, in India in 2019. Source - V3Cars Insider sources, however, maintain that Jimny might come to India in the future, but it’s still at least a couple of years away. So we expect the Jimny to be introduced in India not before 2021.

Here is picture posted on suzukifan.com of what could be the Jimny replacement in Japan. The render seems like ques have been taken from the Maruti XA Alpha concept. Maruti had showcased the XA Alpha at the 2012 Auto Expo. It is said that a shrter version of the XA Alpha chassis will be used for the new Jimny. If this is possible could it be that Maruti could do the same thing here in India and give the Gypsy a new life altogether? Here is the pic and attaching the xA Alpha concept pic below as well Pic source: suzukifan.com
