  9. Mahindra and Ford have announced their partnership a few months ago. According to that partnership, the two firms will co-develop a mid-size C-segment SUV for which the platform and powertrain will be provided by Mahindra. 13. Its nice to see Mahindra going all out to bring green vehicles onto our roads. Following the launch of the e2o electric car, Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the electric version of its entry-level saloon, the Verito, within a year. It will be powered by Reva’s electric powertrain, and will produce 29 kW (38.9bhp). The battery pack will around take six hours for a full charge, which will give a claimed range of 100km. A quick charge can also be done in a little over an hour. M&M is investing about Rs 150 crore to develop electric versions of two of its other vehicles, the Gio and Maxximo, as well. While this is good news for the environment do we really have the infra in place for such cars. For these cars to work properly and make sense there need to be charging points at all places. In my opinion points should be made available in all mall parking lots and other pay and park facilities as well. Apart from that, the cost of replacing the battery packs is a lot. I feel Mahindra should work with the Govt. to get these things in place first and at the same time try to get tax reliefs for electric cars, thereby making them more affordable If that comes through, it will be the next thing to own a green car and I for one would love to drive one as a daily driver. What do you think?

The Mojo is expected to be launched later this year. Here are the pics: Source: IndianAutosBlog
  17. We were the first to tell you about Mahindra developing a range of new SUVs, including sub-compact models, and now here are the first ever pictures of one such model undergoing testing. This new baby SUV (codenamed S101) will be the second offering from Mahindra in the sub-four-metre SUV segment and will sit below the Quanto. Mahindra plans to aim the S101 at the likes of sportier mini-SUVs like the Ford EcoSport. As you can see from the photo, this heavily camouflaged test mule is at a very early stage of development, and features dummy head- and tail-lamps. The car’s profile reveals a sporty, crossover-like stance with high ground clearance and a slightly raked rear windscreen. Mahindra is reportedly planning to share interior components with its other models to keep costs down. What’s more, seeing as how it managed to squeeze seven seats into a sub-four-metre footprint with the Quanto, the company could pitch this new SUV as a six- or even an eight-seater. The carmaker is also reportedly considering developing an upmarket version of the S101 that will be codenamed S102. I personally think this could be a segment changer if positioned below or on par with the EcoSport. High time for Tata and Maruti to jump into this segment.
  18. The Scorpio has been around for long time and has undergone quite a few changes including engines. Since Mahindra said there will be no new vehicle to hit the market before 2016, looks like they will be giving existing products a makeover. Here are a couple of pis of a Scorpio testing with camo. The front seems to be disguised as well as the tail gate. Looks like the significant changes would be happening in these two areas. Would be interesting to know what improvents would go into the facelifted Scorpio. Here are the pics Source: Team BHP
  19. The soon to be launched Quanto from Mahindra has created quite a huge buzz right from the time the first test mules appeared to the more recent undisguised photos. Mahindra is looking at opening up a whole new segment with this launch. There has been a lot of speculation on the price and if at all it is a true 7 seater. Coming back to the point. Do you think the Quanto will be a success? Will it prove to be a good alternative to premium hatches? Lets hear your opinion guys
  20. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will be launching a low spec W4 variant of the XUV500 within the next few months. We all know that the XUV has been crippled with niggling issues and sales have dropped in recent times. Plus the Renaut Duster has made life difficult for the XUV and the soon to launch Ford Ecosport could dent the XUV further. I think this could be a good move since a low spec model with have less electronic gadgetry and a price similar to the Duster could to well to help the XUV climb up the sales charts again What do you think? 22. Keeping its worst ever pace, Indian car market in June 2013 dropped 5.2% from last year ending an awful first half down 10.1%. Launching the locally produced SUV Ecosport, Ford finally attacked this market, almost doubling share.
  23. Here are spy pics of the Mahindra Quanto 4x4. Looks like Mahindra plans to take on the upcoming Duster 4x4 which was also seen testing recently. This test vehicle was spotted around the Pune bypass road and it was accompanied by a BS3 Mahindra Bolero. If you could not locate the give-away still, just gaze at the front wheel hubs (pic below) which read a pronounced ‘4WD‘ (4 wheel Drive).Another thing to note is was that this Quanto appeared to be a 5-seater and was devoid of the rearmost jump seats. Hence, there is no foot step at the back to climb up. There is a possibility of this Quanto carrying the bigger 4 cylinder motor from the Xylo as well. Pics & Source: Motorbash
  24. A while ago, many Mahindra dealers across India stopped taking bookings for the automatic gearbox equipped Scorpio SUV. The pause in bookings reflected the trouble that Mahindra was facing when it came to sourcing the automatic gearbox from Drivetrain Systems International(DSI) Australia, an transmission maker from whom Mahindra used to source the 6 speed automatic gearbox for the Scorpio Automatic. DSI has now been acquired by Geely, a Chinese automaker. Mahindra, for its part, has turned to German auto parts giant Bosch, for sourcing an automatic transmission for the Scorpio. With the 6 speed automatic transmission’s sourcing from Bosch secured, the Scorpio Automatic once again becomes the only affordable automatic SUV to be sold in India. The Mahindra Scorpio SUV, in automatic guise, comes in two wheel drive and four wheel drive guises. The two wheel drive model of the Scorpio Automatic is priced at 11.47 lakh rupees while the four wheel drive version of the Scorpio Automatic is priced at 12.5 lakh rupees, both prices reflecting ex-showroom Delhi figures. The engine of the Scorpio is a 2.2 Liter mHawk turbo diesel motor that outputs a peak power of 120 Bhp while peak torque is rated at 290 Nm. The Scorpio Automatic is available in VLX trim, a fully loaded trim level of this SUV. Source:indiancarbikes.in
