Meeting to discuss proposed amendments for inclusion of Quadricycle 'The provisions of these notifications will come into effect from 1st October 2014' In a letter to SIAM and to heads of various industry verticals including the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has called for a meeting to be held on 11th March 2014 at 10:00 am to discuss proposed amendments to various AIS/IS for inclusion of Quadricycle in the Scope Ministry has issued GSR 99 (E) dated 19th February 2014 regarding implementation of CMVR rules for quadricycle. Further, another S.O. notification related to applicability of several safety standards AIS/ IS under Rule 124 is in process and expected to be released soon. The provisions of these notifications will come into effect from 1st October 2014. In view of these changes in CMVR, there is a need to examine various related standards (AIS/ IS/ TAP document, etc.) in order to propose amendments therein. While it will take considerable time to process those amendments in the respective committees, Ministry desires that a panel should work out summary of changes required and bring up the proposal/ recommendations to CMVR-TSC so that the subject could be taken forward. In consultation with MoRTH a small working group of concerned stake holders is formed for this purpose. Meeting of this working group will be held on 11th March 2014 at 10.00 am at ARAI which is expected to continue for full day. Nominations from Industry Associations has been restricted to two or three representatives.The provisions of these notifications will come into effect from 1st October 2014.   2. Car sales at 11-yr low ,

    SIAM CUTS CAR SALES TARGET TO 1-3% FROM 9-11% Domestic passenger car sales in September grew the slowest in 11 years. Though Utility Vehicle sales continued to zoom, sales of hatchbacks and sedans were in a slow lane. In September, domestic sales fell 5.4%, the second consecutive monthly decline, while motorcycle segment dipped 18.85%. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) cuts future targets drastically. Now, passenger cars would grow by as low as 1-3%, a huge drop from July's forecast of 9-11% and the total market growth is pegged at 8-10% as against previous forecast of 11-13%.
