  1. The facelift for the Kia Picanto (or Morning as it is known in some markets) has just been revealed. The Picanto is the sister car to the previous-gen Hyundai i10 sold in the international market (not to be confused with the India-spec Grand i10, which had different engines and was a bit larger). This update has brought with it some design changes mainly on the front and rear bumpers as well as headlights and taillights. What do you guys think of the hatchback and do you think it would make for a good addition to the brand's India line-up? Read more -
  2. Bajaj has just brought back the Chetak name after a 14-year break. The Chetak is an electric scooter that has a 4kW electric motor and the scooter will sport an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack. Other technical details are yet to be revealed. The electric scooter will, however, have two riding modes - Eco and Sport which provide a claimed range of 95km and 85km respectively. What do you guys think of the new electric Bajaj Chetak? You can read more about the electric scooter here -
  3. After the Supersport, I never thought that Jaguar would come up with an R version for the current XJ but I have been proved wrong. The XJR is coming and will be showcased at the New York Motor Show 2013. Power for the XJR comes from Jaguar’s famed supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine. In the XJR, it produces 542bhp, the same power output as the recently unveiled XFR-S. Jaguar hasn’t confirmed any performance figures for its new rear-wheel drive saloon, but a 0-100kph time close to 5.0sec would be expected. Jaguar has promised “supercar performance” for the new model. Darkened mesh is used for the front grille and air intakes, a front lip spoiler is added, and chrome trim contrasts against the gun metal grey paint finish. Large five-spoke alloys wrapped in low-profile tyres are further additions to the most potent XJ ever. Jaguar hasn’t gone into detail on the “bespoke chassis and aerodynamic developments” the XJR has compared to the standard XJ. Full details will be confirmed at the New York motor show. As a big Jaguar fan I am extremely excited about this. Hope to see this hit Indian shores soon
  4. Hyundai has revealed and launched the i20 sedan in Brazil. It has been named the HB20 S.. At first glance, the Fluidic design philosophy is evident and it does look good for sure. It looks like a proper sedan and not a boot paste job. While the wheelbase remains identical, the boot is massive at 450 litres. Should it come to India? I dont think so and for the reasons Its not a sub 4 meter car and will not gain from excise benefits. If there are no price benefits, it will eat into the sales of the Verna. Hyundai cant have two cars in the same price range else one would canabalize the sales of the other. Seeing everyone going for sub 4 meter cars now, Hyundai should prob think of a sub 4 meter Verna
  5. Here is the picture of the Cherokee that is the first model will be produced after the alliance of Chrysler and Fiat. It is slated to be officially unveiled at the New York motor show in March, and will replace the company’s smaller SUV, the Liberty, internationally. Mind you this is not the Big Daddy Grand Cherokee but more of an entry level crossover, which could be priced in the Honda CR-V range. The new Jeep Cherokee is based on a version of Fiat’s ‘Compact Wide’ platform, which underpins the US-market Dodge Dart saloon, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Fiat Viaggio. The platform is capable of accommodating a four-wheel-drive system, V6 engines and diesels, all of which will be available in the new Jeep. The petrol V6, which is unlikely to make it to India, will be a 3.2-litre version of Chrysler’s 3.6-litre unit. It will also be the first Fiat-Chrysler vehicle to get a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. This transmission is said to be “the future of the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive world of Chrysler”, according to CEO Sergio Marchionne. Read more here:,india-bound-jeep-cherokee-revealed.aspx What do you think? I feel it looks like just any other small SUV and somehow it is lacking the character of its bigger brother. Looks weird from the front
  6. Jaguar has taken the covers of the most fastest saloon it has ever produced. Say hello to the XFR-S. With 5.0 liter Supercharged engine belting out 550 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. The car demolishes the 0 to 100 kph in 4.4 seconds and does a top wack of 300 kph. And boy does it look gorgeous. This French Racing Blue colour is out of this world. Pictures source:
