  2. Skoda has flown a bunch of journalists to Portugal and handed them camouflaged test vehicles of the next generation Skoda Octavia for a preview drive. Members Auto.cz were in that group and they’ve returned with a rich purchase of photographs and specifications. Auto.cz were shown the car without masking but were not allowed to click photographs. But when the journalists were flipping through the infotainment system of the smartly cloaked test mules which they drove up to a top speed of 170kph, they came across this digital image of the car, that gives away its side profile. The new Octavia is based on the MQB Platform. When Skoda introduces this model in India, hopefully next year, it’ll also launch the MQB Platform in India which will underpin 40 models from the VW Group till about 2018. The new Octavia is just weeks away from its public unveil. Features and thrills in the 2013 Skoda Octavia It has a 590L boot, just 5L short of the Superb’s, and is a massive 4.65m long. The wheelbase is stretched by a significant 10.8 cm compared to the outgoing model, improving space at the rear. Turbocharged petrol engines displace 1.2-, 1.4- and 1.8 liters, while the two diesel motors displace 1.6L and 2.0L. Their outputs extend from 84hp to 177hp and each engine has lower fuel consumption. There’s a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DSG based on the variant you choose. Some of the features summarized in this preview drive report are 17-inch wheels, driver fatigue detection system, steering mounted controls and 3D color graphics on the LCD infotainment system. A lot of inspiration and soft components have come from the European Rapid. Check the steering wheel, central console and the doors to find traces of the Rapid’s parts inventory. The new Octavia will reach the Czech market (home market) by February 2013 and Skoda hopes to make it one of the top 10 best sellers in the world one day soon. Can the new Laura pull a fast one on the Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra by playing the value card? Source - Auto.cz, Auto.cz
  3. Mitsubishi launched the third iteration of the Outlander SUV in Japan. The SUV has already been launched in Russia and some European countries, and the crucial difference here is that the vehicle is in RHD format & according to rummors it'll make it's way to india by mid-2013. The looks of the SUV has less aggression than the model it replaces. The angry looking face is toned down and the way the front fenders flow into the bumper is unique. The headlamps, grill and lines on the bonnet add to the looks. On the side, the shape of the roof line is same as the previous Outlander while the rear quarter glass and the D pillar have different shapes. The shoulder crease is now accentuated and sharp. The rear of the car looks wider than before and the rear windscreen is now slightly tapered. The interconnected tail lamp cluster is an interesting touch. The revised interiors look better and is finished in matte and glossy black and silver. The new Outlander comes loaded with safety features like forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control, active stability control and seven airbags. The car is packed till the brim with features such as keyless entry and go, start/stop system, hill start assist, dual zone climate control, multimedia system with navigation. The Mitsubishi Outlander is powered by either a 148 bhp 2.0 litre or a 170 bhp 2.4 litre MIEV petrol engine which are very fuel efficient, thanks to the Outlander’s low drag coefficient of 0.33. Both the engines are mated to a CVT gearbox with six pre-fixed ratios. The new Mitsubishi Outlander retails in four variants with a price range of 2.4 million Yen (around Rs. 16.21 lakhs to 3.1 million Yen (around Rs. 20.93 lakhs). Slipping in the Pajero Sport’s diesel engine will make the new Mitsubishi Outlander a very competitive car! Share your views about it! Source: (http://indianautosblog.com/)
  4. When MSI launched limited edition Wagon R Pro, it was clear that maruti is getting ready to lock horns with Hyundai & GM, by making space in werehouses for a new feighter & as expected, here is a preview of 2013 Suzuki Wagon R that made its debut in Tokyo this week: They also unveiled was a sportier edition of Wagon R called Stingray (Red one) which may not find its way into India. This new version carries it's traditional tall-boy design philosophy. The front looks new but one can easily identify it as a Wagon R. The larger headlamps are stretched back; the rectangular grill bears three thick strips and is finished in silver color. Interestingly there is no provision for fog lamps, perhaps they may be integrated in the future? On the rear, the bumper feels a little bulky making it look taller than it actually is. The tail lamps have undergone subtle changes. Coming to the interiors, the new dashboard is finished in dual tone. The steering is new and the gear knob is now mounted on the dashboard, freeing up the space between the driver and passenger seats for storage..At 3.39 metre the car is shorter than the outgoing model but the wheelbase remains same at 2.4 metre, which means there won’t be any skimping on the legroom. The 660cc 3 cylinder, petrol motor makes 52 bhp and 64 bhp in normally aspirated and turbocharged versions respectively. However, if the new Wagon R comes to India, the K10 motor powering the current Wagon R will take charge & The new Wagon R weighs between 780 Kg – 870 Kg; so it'll be adequate. Though this will be lesser than it's competition, but added FE will be it's major selling point! Do share your openions about it!
