Hi guys

am planning to buy a used car. This is my first car & I am not too adept at driving yet. I have narrowed down to a couple of Wagon Rs. One is a 2007 1.1l petrol and the other a 2008 Lpg duo model. They have done 27000km & 65000km respectively and both are in fairly good condition & with the same accessories. The price difference is about 20000Inr. My office run is about 25 km total but I won't take the car to office initially till I get the confidence. Otherwise weekly usage will be 40-50km. Which car should I prefer?

I own a 06 Wagon R Duo. And i run it on petrol 95% of the times!!

Reason being that LPG isn't as reasonable as it once used to be, plus when you drive it on LPG you'll straightaway notice a big drop in the car's pick up. So driving it on highways and making quick overtaking manoeuvres becomes a bit difficult.

Moreover i did not notice any major amount of my money being saved while running on LPG.

Where as, on petrol mode the car is an absolute delight to drive!! Very zippy and responsive!!

I am a driving enthusiast and i love the way my car responds when running on Petrol.

I would suggest you to go for the 07 petrol model. There is no point in paying extra for a LPG kitted car that has done almost 40,000 kms more!!

these are certified cars I am looking at. Since this is my first car, I would like to have the peace of mind that a certified car provides. With buying directly from a owner, there is always the possibility of having to spend later to fix any issues or unpleasant expensive surprises

Isn't 2.3lakhs too much for an 07 WagonR? Which varient is it lxi/vxi? I won't pay anything more than 2 lakhs for a 6 year old petrol car, WagonR depreciates more than 50% in approx 4 years and ideally you should pay only 40% on the new wagonR cost for any car under 50k kms.

You should go for Petrol model. There is no added advantage of LPG car these days.

Within that, I hav again two options_ there is the 07 24000km one & there is a 05 one that has done 67000km. Obviously the 05 one is cheaper at 1.9l. But the 07 offers better value for money at 2.3L, won't you agree?

it is fairly clear that it has to be 2007 model, 24K done wagon-r but price wise, try more to bring down the price as it should be around 2.10 max, however, I can understand some people won't sell their product easily as they maintain them very carefully. So if this car is very very well maintained. then I would not mind paying a little extra for a superbly maintained car which low on ODO as well.

well, I lost out ont the 2007. We tested the 2005 but it requires steering, suspension & brake work. I told them to fix things and then call me. Otherwise they have 2008 lpg duo and a 2010 petrol which at over 3L is quite steep. Meantime I was offered a 2007 Zen with a cng kit at 1.3L and 72000 km. Not sure what to do
