Nice work gto and prashant

The Ciaz is a looker for sure, hope it does not suffer the fate of Kizashi. The styling is like that of an Audi and a BMW, hoping they arent foolish enough to price it like one of them.

The S-Cross is a step in the right direction , better late than never. Though major market has already been captured by other manufacturers.

Price them well to make your sales ticking.

Thanks, Librankur!!

Well yes, i too hope that Ciaz doesn't meet the same fate as the Kizashi! I guess it Maruti will price it sensibly!!

S-Cross.. Hmmm!! 15 lakh might be a bit too much for a vehicle like that!! 10 to 12 should be a better range!!

Bajaj has launched the Pulsar SS 400 and Pulsar CS 400.

Oh thank you soo much Librankur. The Kizashi wasn't a hit just because of the lack of Diesel engine. And this will be replacing the SX4, so you can expect it to be a good product.

Yaa GTO. The CS 400 is a naked bike whereas the SS 400 is a Faired out version. But i like the SS 400 more :D . They are powered by the Duke 390's engine and the Pulsar name is more familiar in our market.

Audi has launched the A3 and the A3 Cabriolet. The A3 Cabriolet will be powered by the 1.8l TSi engine and will be a CBU. Thus expect it to cost around 40Lakhs. Still i will say it is a better deal than the BMW 330D convertible.

Priyanka Chopra unveiled the new Land Rover LWB!!

post-50246-0-40945700-1391670996.jpg

As Land Rover puts it, the Range Rover Long Wheel Base was built because the customers asked for it. It was in China that the demand was high for this car but Land Rover decided to bring it to India too and in fact make it its flagship most expensive offering.

With an increase of nearly 186mm, the Long Wheel Base model is all about luxury and that is exactly what this Range Rover has to offer. Besides more legroom, the Range Rover LWB offers executive class seats that recline 17 degrees (8 degrees in the standard version). The pampering continues with the 10.2 inch screens at the rear and deployable tables.

Under the hood, the Range Rover gets a 503bhp and 625Nm churning 5.0-litre engine. And is priced at nearly Rs. 3.5 crores!!

Mahindra & Mahindra is going all out with their leap into hi-tech. The homegrown auto major unveiled its concept electric sports car 'Halo' at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The Mahindra Halo is a two-door, two-seater electric sports car concept. Powering the Halo is an electric motor developing approximately 105 KW (140 bhp). The production spec Halo might boast of a power source similar to the one in the Tesla.

The high capacity battery will help the Halo hit 100kmph from standstill in less than 8 seconds with claimed top-speed to be in excess of 200kmph with a range of 200 kms on full recharge.

The car can be fully recharged in one hour, while a recharge of 15 minutes will give a range of 25 kms.

Mahindra says that the concept will see the light of production and from what we can see of the car it looks absolutely terrific. It's stylish and the designers from Pininfarina and Bertone, who are a part of Mahindra Reva's in-house design team, have done an exceptional job to make it look radical and give it that sports car feel.

The company said depending on the support from the Indian government for electric vehicle, Halo will be introduced in the country but it could very well hit overseas markets first. The company will be conducting several market research studies in India and Europe to check customer reactions for an all-electric sports car.

The Halo will go up on sale in 2015-16 and will be sold both in India and in international markets. And will reportedly be priced between Rs.30 to 35 lakhs.

Mahindra showcased the new Mojo at the Auto Expo 2014. The bike for looks much better than it did the last time. It still retains the twin headlamp configuration but there are a few other cosmetic changes especially to the front assembly. The Mojo will be powered by a 295cc single cylinder engine making 27bhp of power and 25Nm of torque. The engine is built and manufactured by Mahindra along with the chassis. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and it will even get a 21-litre fuel tank so it is safe to say that the Mahindra could be used for touring as well. In addition it will also sport upside down front forks and disc brakes up front and at the rear.

The motorcycle is definitely an improvement over the last one.

At the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo DC Design showcased a new compact car and crossover, but also sharing the design firm’s stand were two Avanti sports cars.

The Avanti actually made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo last year, but now development is complete and production ready to get underway in the third quarter of the year.

None of the specs have changed during the past year, which means the Avanti will still sport a turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mid-mounted in a tubular steel chassis and drive is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

The last we heard, DC Design was planning to limit production to 3,500 examples and pricing would be set at somewhere between 25-30 lakh rupees.

Prashant i would disagree on that!

The Toyota Etios Cross is basically a crossover!! Just like the Ford EcoSport.. Coz if you look at it technically, the EcoSport ain't an SUV either!!

The term 'Crossover' isn't so popular in India and hence the the word 'SUV' is used!!

If you still disagree, check out the following links where the word 'SUV' has been used to describe the vehicle!!

Links:

1. Motor Beam (http://www.motorbeam.com/cars/toyota-etios/toyota-india-to-launch-etios-based-compact-suv/)

2. India Today (http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/auto-expo-2014-toyota-etios-cross-is-a-brave-new-suv/1/342065.html)

3. Economic Times (http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/auto/automobiles/auto-expo-2014-toyota-kirloskar-unveils-its-first-crossover-etios-cross/articleshow/29953781.cms)

That being said, i would like to mention that we, the members of ACI Forum, should start using the term 'Crossover' instead of 'SUV' for vehicles like the Etios Cross, EcoSport, etc.

And not just us, even our automotive journalists should make an attempt to make this term more popular.

Do you agree?

The price of the model, which has the design appeal of an SUV, will be revealed in May.

Other than the production ready version of the Avanti, DC Design showcased the two-seater Tia small car and the Eleron SUV. These are concepts and will reach production stage by 2016! DC Design intends to sell 1000 units of Tia and 500 units of Eleron per year.

post-50246-0-61099400-1391747975.jpg

The Tia has a space frame chassis with carbon-composite bodywork and a roll-cage. The mid-engined rear-wheel driven car is powered by a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine and is less then 4-metres long. Peak power stands at 122 PS and peak torque is 190 Nm. The Tia gets a 4-speed automatic gearbox, McPherson struts up front and trailing arm suspension at the rear.

It measures a 2550mm x 1688mm x 1406mm (LxWxH) and has a wheelbase of 1620mm. Its compact dimensions give it a turning radius of 4 metres. It is priced at 18 lakh, which seems quite steep for a car with these specifications.

post-50246-0-63249300-1391747984.jpg

The Eleron is a two-door targa-topped SUV which really isn’t a logical concept to enter into production but outrageous concepts are what define the popular automotive design company so the concept is line with DC’s radical approach.

It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine developing 269 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. The Eleron has a claimed top-speed of 200 Kmph and hits 100 Kmph from standstill in just 9 seconds. The engine is mated to a five speed automatic gearbox and will be available as an all-wheel drive. It gets double wishbone front suspension and air suspension for the rear wheels.

The SUV measures at 5.05 metres in length, 1.95 metres in width and 1.71 metres in height and the wheelbase stands at 3.09 metres. The car sports large 22 inch rims and has a ground clearance of 240mm. DC has priced it at Rs 35 lakh.

Honda debuted the XS-1, a compact SUV concept. This concept is built on Honda’s new 2GA platform.

The stylish crossover comes with sliding doors with large openings on both sides which enable an easy entrance into the spacious cabin. Despite having compact dimensions, the XS-1 concept can host up to seven people thanks to the three-row seating arrangement of the cabin which as you can see lacks a B-pillar to better accommodate the entry and exit.

It is based on Honda's M/M (man maximum, machine minimum) concept, which refers to maximizing the available space for people while at the same time minimizing the space necessary for all the car's mechanical parts. The interesting and futuristic styling is one of the first representatives of Honda's recently introduced "Exciting H Design" philosophy. The Honda XS-1 exhibits the carmaker’s prowess in delivering fantastic interior space in a compact body.

DSK Hyosung is looking at expanding its product range. And how!!

At the Expo DSK Hyosung launched the Aquila 250 at Rs.2.69 lakhs. This Aquila is powered by a 249cc, oil cooled, V-twin that puts out 26bhp and 22Nm torques. Based on its older sibling the 650cc cruiser, the Aquila 250 uses a regular cradle type frame suspended on telescopic forks upfront and regular coil dampers at the rear.

The large single disc brakes on the front and a drum at the rear take care of the braking duties. The Aquila 250 receives the typically cruiser treatment and will come with high handlebars, low seat height and a forward set of foot-pegs.

There's a lot of chrome too!! Just like its older sibling.. But still manages to look the part of a typical cruiser. Bookings for the Aquila 250 are now open.

DSK Hyonsung also showcased the RT125D and the GD250N performance bikes from their range.

post-50246-0-11584000-1391752417.jpg

The RT125D is a dual purpose motorcycle and has been showcased in order to gauge public reaction. The RT125D is essentially an Enduro and is powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 13.5 PS of power. The bike is based on a cradle frame and uses a monoshock. Unlike the other 125cc bikes that are available in India right now, the RT125D is significantly better equipped and potent.

Hyosung has shown no interests in launching the bike as of now and is currently studying the feasibility and the market demand for a product like this.

Hyosung is generating a response for the RT125D, which will decide whether it is feasible to launch the bike in India or not. Considering it is underpowered, it might just make way for the RT250D to be launched in the future.

post-50246-0-85083500-1391752404.jpg

The GD250N is a highly anticipated bike. Its a naked street-fighter motorcycle with a striking resemblance to the Duke 200 in terms of looks and dimensions. Powering the GD250N is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine producing 28 BHP of power and 24 Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Hyosung GD250N uses 37 mm inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Stopping power comes from petal disc brakes on the front and rear wheels. You also get an underbelly exhaust, while a total weight of 145 kgs on the bike provides an excellent power to weight ratio.

Hyosung has high hopes from the GD250N and it will hit the market in the later half of 2014. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroon, Delhi) when launched and will be competing with the Duke 200 in terms of specs and the 390 in terms of price!!
