freakyskull 66 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 The Maruti Celerio diesel has been spotted testing up north near the Maruti factory . The source says that the car spied is the Zdi variant. Maruti will apparently power the car with an 800cc diesel motor and it seems will be here by the festive season. Here are pics and a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EQW2V6eSyQ Source
Neelftakon 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 According to the company the car will feature a 800 cc engine with 35 bhp.............which is quite low...over the NVH will be an issue with such a small engine...............maruti should look at the fiat sourced diesel engines and probably give the car a 1 litre fiat diesel engine that also does the duty in the Chevrolet Beat. motorj3di 1 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 Yes, how do we know that is the diesel version?
rameshbabu.n 6 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 Yes, how do we know that is the diesel version? Simple and time tested. Elimination process. 1 When the car is already launched in petrol version, why MS would continue to test a petrol car? So, it must be diesel. 2 Instead of conducting more tests on petrol variant, which already got a huge waiting list, MS would be happy to allott and deliver these test mules to the waiting lot, had these mules were petrol. So, logically, this must be diesel. What say ?
MAYUR JAIN 0 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 zdi mark also not marked on it it should be automatic + abs verint
neerajd 7 Report post Posted July 30, 2014 @Mayur, Maruti will not put on the DDiS and the the ZDi labels on the car if it is supposed to test it out in open. This is the best way they can camouflage it... going unnoticed. Hope this one comes with a 3 cyl version of the 1.3 fiat sourced. Its quite proven on the Beat and should offer good kms to a liter. I don't think Maruti will think of a 2 cyl 800 cc in house engine here since that will have a lot of bad NVH. And a cyl engine will be louder than the 1.5 iDTEC from Honda
LeoRahi 31 Report post Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) Silly posters there Just kidding ! On topic, Agree with Neeraj, Dont think Maruti is working a 800cc 2 cylinder, expect this to be with around 1000cc and 3 cylinder engine. Maruti ain't that silly Lets wait and watch ! GuruGautham 2 Report post Posted August 24, 2014 Actually, I think Maruti has been working on an 800cc diesel for some time now. It was supposed to be fitted in suzuki's first commercial vehicle which they have been planning to launch. However if they manage to make it refined enough for private car buyers then we could see diesel versions of the Alto and WagonR. Right now the only competition is the outdated Indica and the slow selling Beat
