Vento facelift Automatic DSG?

Recommended Posts

Usually what I hear is, with these semi-automatic gears, the fuel efficiency goes down and the pick up isn't affected. In delhi, I have seen very few semi-automatic cars. Don't know if these cars don't suit for indian condition?

But how is this Automatic DSG different from the semi-automatic gears? What they claim over here is it really true?

Does this Automatic DSG really improves the fuel efficiency and overall performance? Is this the same technology which revolutionary Suzuki Celereo braught last year in India?

Hi Mav

There is a difference between DSG and AMT. The Celerio has the AMT tech which is essentially a manual gearbox but controlled via a different module. So in short its not an auto box per se

The DSG is a proper automatic gearbox with manual tip tronic function. The DSG box come with two clutches. While one gear is engaged, the second clutch is already waiting to engage the second gear and so on. This reduces shift times and helps increase fuel efficiency.

Infact even CVT boxes are fuel efficient. Gone are the days when automatics were considered fuel guzzlers.

So buying an Vento DSG is worth? Will I be able to enjoy the luxaries and ride quality more with this Automatic DSG?

A DSG system is a dual clutch automatic and there are 2 types of variant of the same. The one in vento is a dry type unit which has a constraint of 250Kgm torque level.

DSG are generally not that response when starting from a standstill, here the torque converter are still better but on the move the DSG box was the next gear already ready to engage for upshifts.

The technology is nect gen but is complex and it is worth the additional expense over the other automatic gearboxes, but do take additional warranty if you are buying the Vento.
