Black Plastics - Need a piano finish

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

I'm a little inclined towards getting the external black plastic parts, at least the grill and air intake parts of my Ford Classic painted black.

Those are the bits which actually start showing age immediately and require a special spray to get those shining.. only to get the same white deposits a few days later.

Know of any paint treatment to get those gleaming black?

Piano finish will make it look amazing... if not, I'm going to get it painted panther black from Ford.

Any ideas, suggestions?

I Would suggest going in for a primer, then a coat of gloss black paint, and finish it up with 2 sprays of clear coat, and ask someone to polish it with wax and 2 coats of automotive polish, and if you're budget permits and want to go that extra mile you can end up putting a Teflon spray over them. I'm pretty sure after these you're plastic parts will get a magnificent lustre and also age well.

Thanks Diptanshu. That process really helps.

I was considering getting a metallic black spray can and do the job myself.

Is a primer necessary before I can put on any paint?
